ok well [spoiler] zeriam absorbing her brother gren is pretty crazy just makes you want to kill it (come on who doesnt hate a parisite that takes over a living and thinking host. that and how stinking powerfull the thing is makes it in my oppionion one of the strongest most evilist villians of all time [/spoiler]

most evil: Orochimaru from Naruto

coolest: Vicious from Cowboy Bebop and Uchiha Itachi from Naruto

deserving of most sympathy: Edward the Tyrant from Final Fantasy: Unlimited. What made him the bad guy, anyway? was he even evil? geez.

[spoiler] He's only a girl/guy in the series. In the movie he's 100% mano.

Personally, the entire girl thingy got him extra brownie points from me. I mean, not only is he a pyro, a great foil to Van, and witty, but he has the most out there 'Luke, I'm not your father, I'm your sister' background that I've ever seen in anime, and they pulled it off so you could believe it. So, anyway, my favs are Vegeta--when he was bad--from DBZ.
Knives and Legato from Trigun.
Soujiro when he was with Shishio in Rurouni Kenshin.

Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho

Knives from Trigun

Master Asia from G Gundam

Raven from Zoids CC/GF

Shishio from Rurouni Kenshin

I would list Saitou from RK as well, but I'm not sure if he qualifies as a villain. Hiei would be on that list but I don't like him for his villainous qualities. Vegeta/Vejita from DBZ is a pretty cool villain as well.

Talking Naruto, I am a major Orochimaru fan (though I love Itachi and Gaara and Kimimaro and Haku and just about anyone who even seemed like an antagonist at one point...but not Neji or Kisame much).

Shaman King: I adore Hao to bits and pieces. And his crazy outfit. I want those earrings.

DNAngel: Krad is just horribly prettyful...

Ashram and Pirotess from Record of the Lodoss War. They were, hands down, the coolest pair of villians I've ever not hated in an anime. ^^

My only complaint about them is that Pirotess' role was so short in the OVA and she didn't do anything very cool in the T.V. series. She and Deedlit needed to have a big fight. That would have been cool.

Yes, it would have been very cool. And while I like Deed, Pirotess would have stomped her into the ground ... Sadly, the only thing Pirotess does in the "Chronicles" manga is provide fanservice.
