Chronicles of the Lame

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Tue Sep 21, 2004 3:05 pm

hi, I'm Mr. SmartyPants! err, my real name is Ryan Kim. I was born on May 30th, 1989, and I've been a born-again Christian since... lets say.... ohhh.... hmmmmm, october 2003. When I witnessed baptism of the holy spirit, and seen people speak in tongues. It changed me so much, and I accepted Christ.

I'm currently a sophomore at Calvert Hall college (actually a prepatory highschool)... and this school is lame. Actually the kids are. Many of em tease, and insult me, especially racial slurs. casue I'm asian, or because I know a lot about computers.(Usually correcting people when they talk about computers... ESPECIALLY debating with 8000 people on why mozilla firefox is better than IE) Or they claim that i'm "soo smart" or "geeky" or whatever. But I do have quite a few friends there. And althought they are not true Christians, they are fun to talk to in school. But it's all right. I got God by my side, so insults can't really hurt me. I just counter-attack with them, by poking. Or speaking in l33t (kinda weird, but it's fun) and they just go "what???" and it makes me happy. I'm weird lol.

I am in the Anime club, It's Academic, the video games club, and the computer club, which hasn't started yet.

I also have obsessive-compulsive behavoir, as well as some ticcing (http://www.webmd.com if you don't know what those are ^_^) and it can be bothering many times. But it's okay. Since God is in control.

aaannndddd I LOVE ANIME AND STARWARS! They are so awesome! My favorite movie is the return of the jedi. The battle of endor is omgishes so amazing!

well, that is all ^_^

Wow, it's cool to learn more about you! I really wish I was considered a geek because maybe that way I could be smarter. lol.
You believe in speaking in tongues? Cool! Unfortunately, not all Christians do.

...you know what's funny? I just figured out what the bunny in your avatar is doing...boy do I feel weird! -.- It's dancing--I thought it was shuffling papers or something (eh heh, don't ask) anyway.....

you're a geek? *moves Mr. SmartyPants up on list of cool people* Geeks are cool! I am, uh, *draws a blank* *goes off to find a how geeky are you type of online quiz*

My brother Kaligraphic is a CIS major. I never understood how knowledge of programming was then applied onto the computer and thus failed to develop much interest in it. Which do you like best, programming, or fancy new high-tech stuff?

I actually used to wish I was Asian because I like the eyes. I'm basic boring white American. White people have no sense of culture-*recalls Scandinavian festival*-most of the time.

Ya know, when you debate with 8000 people on why mozilla firefox is better than IE, you're bound to be pegged as a geek. It's unavoidable. I realized a long time ago that I was, in fact, a geek and have since moved on to better things.

Hang in there, Mr. SmartyPants.

hehe. nice to meet you Mr. SmartyPants.

i admire people who can work with computers beyond typical operational functions, mostly because computers and i only get along well enough for me to type a paper or use the internet. if i try anything beyond that... it just doesn't work out. ^^

Hey MrSP.

Thanks for sharing a little bit about your self with everyone.

A Geek eh? My wife and I joke around that if we had gone to High School together we would have hated each other. She would have probably tried to beat me up for being to nerdy (or something like that).

Eventually, every one else will grow out of using cheesy stereotypes like geek, nerd, dork ect and just realize people are different. (hopefully) ;)

Cool!!! Your family traces its roots to Korea eh? I would have never known if you had not shared. How many generations have been born in the US? I know relatively nothing about my families origins. :(
I’m really sorry about the retards who mock you because of your ancestry. I would knock their heads around if I was there. Serious. That kind of stuff just crawls right under my patience…

Another StarWars fan? Great!!! There are never to many, and always to few. ;)
Though I do like the battle for Endor (and the second DeathStar) in ROTJ, my favorite SW movie is still TESB!!! And my favorite SW game is still Tie-Fighter. ^_^

Later,

-kaji
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

You are indeed a kewl person to know. By the way, I speak l337 too, so you're in good company. And you're talking to a guy who's a fan of anime, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Dungeons and Dragons. I am very familiar with the world of geekdom. Geeks rule!

And Empire was definitely the best Star Wars movie (watch Clerks for the reason why).

"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things... hey... the good things don't always soften the bad things; but vice-versa the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant." -11th Doctor

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close
