the END of Inuyasha...

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Wed Sep 22, 2004 2:20 pm

After sitting around and watching the first ep from my new lovely boxset, I decided to watch eps 166-167 to see the finale.... and here's the biggest spoiler of all if you dare to read (and really, it's not surprising, nor was it expected)
Seriously, there is NO "official" ending! I'll explain: after this big dramtic climax that the series seemed to be coming to, it just.... ended! The gang was stuck in a giant youkai's stomach and Inuyasha used Kagome's shard to blast it out. Looking at the time, the ep was almost over! I thought the blast hit Naraku and it didn't. The show ends with the song Dream, and shows images of popular characters from the show on their journies. And what kind of ending line did they have: "We will keep pursuing Naraku forever!" -_-' Seriously, I've seen bad endings before, but NEVER did I have one that didn't even close! Grr... have to read the manga to see how they really beat him, what a gip! I was expecting some huge dramtic ending.... But noooooo! It just... ended! I was still blinking through the end credits because I just couldn't beleive the show ended like THAT! *sigh* And yes, that is how the entire series ends.... Well, there's still the new movie coming out, but it doesn't seem to have much to do with the series. No loose ends tied...
And... that's what really happened.

It ended? It seemed like it would go on forever. O_o. I read the spoiler (because I'm that kind of person.) and that ending sounds like one of the worst ever. Weaksauce! O_o. (It doesn't really sound like an ending though....maybe they'll come out with one more movie....)

The terrifying moldy bread incident! In elementary school, Yomi's leftover bread started rotting inside her desk! you can't imagine what happened! Not only that, but the mold had a will of its own, it was terrible! Barricading ourselves in the science prep room, we used spirit lamps and engaged in combat! Then I realized it!! If we only had the bottle of mildew remover from the bathroom, we could destroy them!!

Well, I do know what's happening in the most current of Inuyasha manga chapters, and I can tell you, that "last" part in the anime isn't really too far from where the manga is now... well, maybe it is a bit far. But since the manga hasn't ended yet (though it really really seems like it's close due to the recent death of one main character), Naraku's defeat is still uncertain.

It's kinda like what they did with Furuba since the anime ends before the manga does XD But I believe they'll continue the Inuyasha anime when they have the episodes ready.

Edited it after and pointed out the 4th movie. It involves some girl named Ai and Kikyou, but that's about it. Another one of those "drift off from the storyline" movies, once again.

I somehow doubt that for the fact that they announced at the end "Thanks for watching and supporting Inuyasha for the past four years! But remember to read Shonen Weekly Sunday!"

Yeah, they pulled the same stunt with the Ranma TV series -- although the "end" did appear, sort of, in the manga. (That never did get into the anime, even the OAVs, and it probably won't ever be.)

Gaaaah! To read or not to read?

And that Ranma ending for the anime really bugged me. I can't wait to finish the manga.

Nothing but good business. They have to leave the fans desiring a better closure which leaves room for at least 2 more movies and maybe even several OAVs.

READ. The manga DOES go farther than the anime. And some really interesting things happen! I can't believe they ended it there!!!
If you want to read the manga translated into English from what they have in Japana now, go to google and search inuyasha manga transcripts. I won't put the site here because when the dude translates it, there's really bad language. But if you just read from where the anime ended(that would be 355) to where it is now(377), the language isn't AS bad, but still bad.

The manga isn't done yet? That's news to me (it really is; I am not claiming that I knew any different). How many volumes is it to now? Has it ever really changed its premise?

Meanwhile, I know the same person did Ranma 1/2, and several other series. Someone who has seen those other series, do they all have similar "endings?" Or has she just been continually short-changed in the anime department?

I haven't gotten all the way to the end of Urusei Yatsura (Enthralled has, but domestically AnimEigo hasn't gotten done translating all of them yet), but Maison Ikkoku does have a proper "ending" (or so I am told, because Viz hasn't finished the DVD issues ;) ).

I was actually refering to the spoiler.

I don't really enjoy Maison Ikkoku though. I forced myself just to get through the first fifty episodes, and I don't think I could do that for the whole thing.

Oh, what a lousy ending. I'm glad I'm not an Inuyasha fan girl, or I would be VERY disappointed.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.
Well when it says same soul it means they have the same goal. Its just not correct to translate it that way.

From the translation notes of Ear-tweak:

"MIDORIKO'S INTENTION - (page 4) Perhaps this is what clarifies Kikyou's tie to Midoriko. I got several questions about this over the week, although things are still not clear. As Kikyou had said in the previous chapter, it seemed that she and Midoriko carried the same soul ("Iwaba... watashi to Midoriko wa onajii tamashii o motosu monodoushi.") Whether or not she meant that literally was a bit ambiguous, but here it seems to say that she and Midoriko are sharing the "same soul" through having the same intentions, and, as noted in previous chapters, also through having the same kind of destiny and backstory.

When Midoriko was first introduced (WAAAY back then...), it was always hinted that she and Kikyou were "kindrid spirits," in both the sense that they were powerful miko who had dedicated their lives to fighting youkai. And as Kikyou had been lusted after by Onigumo, Midoriko also had a man with eyes set on her.

Purely speculative on my part, but I think Kikyou may be hinting here that she had been given the power of Midoriko's soul because they had the same intent of defeating forces like Naraku. But again, that's just what seems to be what Kikyou is saying."
Use the spoiler tags. Those are pretty big spoilers.

I actually prefer ear-tweak's translations to wot's... theres less cussing. I suggest everyone catch up to the recent chapters then read the scanlations on ear-tweak as they come out.

As for the the anime series, its been hinted that IY will be continued somehow, whether it be in another series or ovas. I doubt they'll do it in movies. Logically though, Inuyasha is a money making show and no one in their right mind wouldn't continue leeching off it as far as it can go. <_<

btw pm me if you want links to the translation sites

I will spoilerize those before someone who cares greatly about Inuyasha has quite it bit ruined for them. For the record, spoiler tags are

[ spoiler = topic] spoilerized content [ /spoiler]

but without spaces.

SaraInu wrote:The anime has ended, at episode 166-167, it was rather good. But there wasn't really a conclusion, Naraku didn't die, and it was kind of a "Well tommorow is another day!" thing, and the official Japanese site for the Inuyasha TV series, Sunrise, has hinted that there may be another series of Inuyasha.

But you really should read the manga, the anime ended right when things started to twist and get intresting, like *spoiler*
Hakudoushi dieing, and then Sango and Kohaku get reunited, and then in the next chapter Kagura gets her heart back by Naraku, but also gets poisened and lands in a field of flowers, where Sesshoumaru shows up, and is about to revive her, but can't, so she dies.
And also that it is discovered Kikyou and Midoriko have the "same soul" or "alike souls"
Soo...my guess might be right....my guess was that they might have a nether seires of inu yasha..just ask C-Girl..
