Poetry Mine

Postby The-Case » Mon Sep 13, 2004 7:56 am

I wasn't sure if this is the right place to post this or even if this should be posted at all. I'm still new, so if I make a mistake, please correct me; I'm always trying to be a more constructive member of the community. ^_^

Here is some of my shorter poetry. Tell me what you like about it or don't like about it or whether or not you think it's appropriate for the forum. I used to have art that went with most of these, but it was lost in a tragic reformatting accident...
-------------------------

Away-man

There's something special in the eyes
Of a lamb who's ostracized.
It dulls his longing face of clay
To mark that man a man away.

--------------------------

A Memorial Stone

A statue cannot move, you see.
'Tis always still and meek.
The stone is always hard and grey;
'Tis numb and cannot speak.

So why, then, does this statue move?
It makes me sad and weak.
Perhaps it is this pearl of rain
That trickles down her cheek.

--------------------------

An Angel's Tear

How hard to see an Angel's tear
Among and through the clear night's sky?
I like to think it's just as bright
As the stars it is among.
But how sad it is to know
That the Angel can't be seen,
And we may never comfort it
Or find out why it cries.
But if the Angel could be seen
As it perches sad and weeping,
Then I would have to also cry.
For a creature such of love and light
To cry is such a hurtful shame.
How hard to see an angel cry!
And worse to know the reason why.
How hard to see an Angel's tear
Among and through the clear night's sky
Hey it's me,

I think that they were all very well-written. Out of the three, I think that 'A Memorial Stone' was my favorite. I thought your descriptions were great, and it just flowed so well. I hope you post more of your work. I look forward to reading. :)

Life is not about us using God for our purposes, but about Him using us for His purposes.

Faith is not creating a false reality, but acknowledging God's promises for us.

The dreams I dream for you
Are deeper than the ones your clinging to
Let the old dreams die
Like stars that fade from view
And take the cup I offer
And drink deeply of the dreams I dream for you

Man... I haven't added anything to this in a long, long time. ^^; Well, here is another poem from a long time ago. It's my favorite of the one's I've written, not because I think it is the most tactfully written, but because it holds a lot meaning for me. Maybe it will for you.

-------------------------

Black Roses

Never once a traveled eye
Has ere seen where black roses lie.

Under rainbows they are sown
In perfect weather, where they're grown.

A seedling sprouts from dimming glow
With secrets only light can know,

And as the stem grows thick and strong
Thorns grow razor-sharp and long.

When flower bursts from bondage kept
Will show the darkness of years that prepped

And retracts within the darkest cave
To live the life of a worker's slave

Where always there but never seen.
It grows dispising, large, and mean.

Will never stop and never sleep
Until the walls that held cannot keep

Will split the rock and shift the stone
To break away and make itself known.

Though never seen by traveled eye
Where on the Earth black roses lie,

I have seen with dreaming eye
Where in the soul, Black Roses lie.
Hey it's me,

look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!â€

If any of you have seen my artwork posted in the gallery, you may remember Tree-Man. I recently wrote this peice to acompany it. The origonal picture is attaced below, as well. Enjoy. ^^

---------------------

[color=Red]Tree-Man

They make their way, the Trees, the trees
The twain of them, the trees.
Creeping down the rocky beach
To sanctuary seas.

And ‘til the day they make their way
On this rocky beach I stand
A slender giant, grey and stable.
Standing on the land.

A guardian I am, I am.
A guardian I am.
For Mine’ers wish to have their wood
And spill a sappy lamb

But I’m a patient man, I am.
I am a patient man.

But slowly do the twain trees move--
How tardily their stances yield!
Very long it’s been, it’s been
Since last my mouth has mealed

But I’m a patient man, I am
I am a patient man.

How many months? The awkward boughs
Of the trees seem stiff and strong,
Moving surely as they are
Toward the sea. The twain a throng.

The boughs are surely thick and strong.
And to the tiny Mine’ers, throngs.

I left to feed but for a day.
Never I should leave the twain!
For on my fill I came to find
The Mine’ers one had slain.

A sappy stump is what remained.

O! The tree who has no eyes
Could shed no tears on her behalf!
But I will shed his share and mine
In morning of this horrid gaffe.

“You will make it to the sea.â€
