"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things... hey... the good things don't always soften the bad things; but vice-versa the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant." -11th Doctor

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close

I like the Dragonball manga much better than DBZ or GT.

I like the characters (esp. Piccolo and Vegeta), but I can't stand the show 'cause the fight scenes are mostly two muscle-y guys yelling taunts at each other.

ok.... interesting replies.... DBZ is about goku being an adult. DbGt is about goku being small again. And DB is about goku as a child.

Dragonball was my favorite. I have the first four manga, and a DVD containing the entire Fourtune Teller Baba Saga.
Think happy thoughts.

Actually, there have been four or five threads about it. It isn't that popular here, though there are some fans who will gladly post in a topic.

Myself, I like the manga far more than the anime, and Dragonball Z best of the three. Were it less stretched, I would like it even more. I will explain this in greater detail in the subsequent paragraph.

I really don't find Toriyama funny. At all. Hence, Dragonball I found terribly dull and Dragonball GT was merely trying to attain a bad thing. However, I appreciated the serious focus of Dragonball Z, as well as its characters. If we are to use anime divisions, I would say this portion had the best general character designs and development.

Dragonball was boring and DBGT discusts me, but I really like DBZ! Perfect Cell is my absolute favorite character. Also, Gotenks and Buu are fun to watch.

I'm not impressed with the series' art style (muscles, spiky hair, and oh, look, more muscles) or its plot (or glaring lack thereof).

I'm a die hard fan. I've been watching them like a year before they came on cartoon network. The art isn't the best, but it's got good fighting. Some may see the plot as lacking but it's enough to keep my interest. Though, I really wish that Cartoon network would show more from the first series Dragon ball. It might not be everyone's type of anime, but it's a classic.

Do give Toriyama a break regarding the art style. It's a very old anime.

As for the plot: I liked it around the Cell Saga, when there was actually a lot going on. But I'll admit, this is the series greatest weak point (not counting being stretched).

Yes, it is from the Dragonball plot line. In the manga, there was no break between Dragonball and Dragonball Z. But Piccolo was the previous villain. Goku defeated him, but just barely, and didn't kill him.

I guess you can't have a DBZ thread without people coming along and posting why it sucks.

Anyway, die-hard fan here as well. I'm not up to digging up old posts and copy-pasting my reasons why it is one of my favorite but it is.

I actually kinda like Dragonball Z, but I like the original Dragonball better. However I wish there was more action and less taunting. My only complaint about GT is that they had a perfectly serviceable character to star in it, Goten, but NO, they had to bring Goku back. Ugh. Plus they cut out like twenty-some episodes from the beginning of GT when they aired it on TV. They're now releasing them as the "lost episodes." They weren't lost! You just refused to air them!

And I wish the games were a bit better too. The only DB game that was really good was Budokai 2.

I'm still into DBZ. GT wasn't as great as I was hoping for. -.- but oh well. Dragon Ball was somewhat funny, yet still not as good as DBZ.

Vegeta rules!! And I also like Piccolo ^_^
ya'know what's funny about Piccolo? He's green and he wears purple pants--like the Hulk. Whatever, I just thought that was interesting.

I'm not too certain about the EBay deal... I've heard about it for quite some time now, from a great many different people. If it was legitimate it would be excellant, but...

I...am so jealous! :waah!: ...Okay, I'm over it now. *is dying to have all the Perfect Cell and Cell Games Saga episodes on DVD* Heh, I taped most of Gohan vs. Cell and a few Goku vs. Cell about five years ago *tried to estimate how long ago it was*, but 1: I want to relive the rest, and 2: I want better quality than something taped five years ago. Though, I am surprised how the quality in the tape has either deteriorated only a little or not at all (meaning not enough to see a difference). That's probably because I've kept the tape fairly active. I can almost quote anything they say in the episodes I taped. ^_^ Hey, I'm rambling, aren't I? (Did you know that "aren't I" is actually improper grammar? It just sounds so right to use, though!) Right...I'll shut up, now.
