Bort bort bort!

Postby Nate » Thu Sep 02, 2004 7:57 am

Yeah, okay, so I'm new...never been a member of a internet group or whatever...but of all the groups I've seen, this one looked the best. People that are interested in the same stuff I am! Well, sorta, at least.
So I guess I'll put just a little bit of info...don't want to go too long...I'm 23, and I just got out of the Navy after doing a looooong six years (BTW don't sign up, you will regret it!). I am currently seeking a college where I can use the 90 college credits I obtained in the service to get a nuclear engineering degree. I grew up in a Christian household, so I've been a believer since I was like six or so, but I wasn't really seriously into it (c'mon, I was a kid) until I hit about 14 or 15. And that is about it. I must go play Wild ARMs 3 now, so I shall depart.

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close[/color]

Welcome to Mad Hatter's retirement home, where we provide for all of your elderly needs.

I'm kidding, I'm kidding...

Yo, kaemmerite. Hmm... you know, actually, I was kind of considering joining the Navy before I go to college, but my parents jumped in and talked me out of it when I mentioned it to them. Glad you got back safely, and have fun here in the forums.

*Snif* Thanx everyone for being so nice! I'm kinda quiet in real life (though that has changed since being in the Navy) but it's nice to let loose here a little bit. And I didn't mean to completely and totally trash the Navy. It just isn't for me, that's all. I did do kewl stuff. I got to see Ephesus and Rome! I also went to Thessaloniki (I don't know how to spell it) but we weren't allowed off the pier there because of terrorist stuff. Also been to three places in Spain, Croatia, and Malta, as well as St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. And I got to see the Temple of Artemis! What's left of it anyway. Heh.
When they heard this, they were furious and began shouting: "Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!" - Acts 19:28
It wasn't all bad, it was just mostly bad. For me. Everyone can make their own decisions about the military (especially after they spend nine months at sea with only 14 days in port, nine of those days being in Bahrain and surrounded by 2,000 Marines the whole time! ARRGH!).

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.
