Economics

Postby Jaltus-bot » Sat Sep 04, 2004 11:05 am

I'm in college. I went to one college for the last two years. I started as a journalism major, thought of changing to the not-for-profit option of management and human resources, was scared off by a law class, was and environmental biology major. I didn't get the on campus job where I would get free room and board and with the fee increases and not being sure of my major, I am now attending our local community college. I was thinking of changing to business again because I could se myself working in business, but I wasn't quite certain of the major. I don't want to work in exactly what I study in school-that seems a bit limited.

Currantly I am going to do something with business and office technology at my school so that I can get some job skills because I will need a fulltime job in a couple of years to get my own medical insurance. After that I will get my B.S. in economics. I was considering it this summer although I didn't mention it much to my parents because having already been so uncertain about what to major in, I didn't want to tell them again that wasn't sure of my major. I did some research on the major and what can be done with it and I was looking at this managerial economics book that I bought from the school's library and thought that I could see taking class after class in stuff like that. It just sort of struck me the next night when I was brushing my teeth that I really should major in economics.

I figure economics could give me a lot of job areas that I could go into-good for a historically indecisive person like me. I can try calculus (I want to know if I can do it.) with it, take environmental economics, and learn to understand financial decision making. I hope to eventually do something in some kind of financial organization eventually because it would be good experience, then I want to work for some kind of environmental organization. I'm interested in environmental issues because of the health effects like asthema.

I am in the pre-economics stage. My parents do not have a problem with economics, just make that clear.

Dogs

Postby Jaltus-bot » Sat Sep 04, 2004 11:12 am

I don't know when I might want a dod later, but right now I can't say that I do. I hold wht happened to the twogdogs that my family has had agaist them. One was a skinny dachsound who had a seven lb tumor in because she had undiagnosed cushings disease for years. Typically, vets just wrote it off as overfeeding. The other saw a vet and around a week later died. She had something like she was pre-diabetic, had mild pancreitis or something and died of a heart attack or stroke. I'm still working on the whole trusting good vets. Our dog Foxy (she looked like a fox) didn't have to die like that.

important

Postby Jaltus-bot » Sun Sep 05, 2004 11:03 pm

The early in my brother's and the beginning of my formal education involved certain issues with the public school and with safety. This is why we started homeschooling. We moved at the beginning of 7th grade and my mom got really sick She was sent home to die in 1996. Although she is alive and almost as healthy as I expect her to ever get, I have never told anyone the whole story of that; I've only simply said she got really sick or medical problems or something like that. Both medical expenses and homeschooling have cost my family a lot of money. Every member of my immediate family is asthematic and takes medicine for it. I take 5 prescription, medicines for ADD, asthema, and allergies. That is why I will need my own medical insurance in a couple of years.

We finally moved to a nice area, where life could have been more like of should be and my mom got really sick. She would fall asleep every afternoon and was almost down to 50% lung function. No one I knew at least of my peers or the people I would think should be my friends seemed to be really interested in understanding what was going on. I mean the aquaintences i had at church, like from youth group. I only had one person I considered kind of close friend. The rest were more like aquaintences. I think 'cause I didn't feel like I had someone to do that, I just bottled up some of the emotions. But I never really told anyone much about that. What else could I do?

This is now in a thread called "stuff" in the general forum.
