Hi, welcome. I'm glad you decided to join us. 
Is this what you are looking for as an avatar?
You can shrink a picture by copying it and pasting it in paint. Then under Image, select stretch and skew. You can select less than 100% and the picture will shrink accordingly. If it won't paste in paint, you might be able to paste it in word, then select copy from there and post in paint. That is what I did, then I saved it in paint as a jpg.
