Trigun morals

Hearing all of this good stuff about Trigun has helped me out alot in justifying it to the point that it's not really offending, and that the morals and such are good and positive at times. I know, because I've been reading the manga recently. So let's see if I got this correct: [spoiler]Vash was some super-duper gunslinger dude that killed any that opposed him or w/e. But then after his girlfriend died, he realized just how important life is and how wrong it is to try and take the life of another. So now he's still that skilled, wanted gunslinger, but he's not trying to kill anyone or cause trouble. [/spoiler] Correct? It really amazes me (even more because it's an anime) that he's not just some dude(like say, Spike from Cowboy Bebop) who's runnin all over the place TRYING to kill for money and stuff and not showing any remorse or mercy. He's the complete opposite, and I think that's a rare and great thing in it's type of media. I mean, somebody will most likely be drawn to it because of the gunfights and revolver duels and such, but it's ministering in a way that's not shown in todays media. Vash is like the even better version of Samurai Jack or Rurouni kenshin, I think. What are other good morals and themes you've noticed in this amazing series? I really want to know.

I've discussed this enough that I no longer wish to add new things. However, allow me to correct one point, at least as far as the anime goes.

[spoiler=Trigun]Rem wasn't really Vash's girlfriend. More of a mother-figure. But yes, when she died it impressed heavily upon his mind the importance of non-violence. Hence, he uses his naturally impressive abilities and gun-slinging in positive and unharmful methods.[/spoiler]

I really love trigun and agree that it teaches you things.IT really teaches you about forgivenes and grace and mercy.It may sound a little childish but I learned some lessons from the whole thing.If I had time I would elaborate a lot more.I could go through each episode and say something i learned.I haven't seen many animes but I know that trigun will always stay my favorite anime.Feel free to pm me if you want to talk about it more.I can't get enough of trigun!!!!

Hmm... Should I say what I think... Probably not, it would probably start a fight. Let me just say I don't think the message of Trigun is all that good, at the very least it's a bit too simplistic.

Morals aside, there were some technical and artistic issues I had with it... Particularly in some of Vash's enemies... *shiver* (lest someone DARE to point out my avatar, I could dare to point out that Sailormoon was made for kids, is about 8 years older than Trigun, and I never once said it didn't have artistic and technical problems... just CMB here)

No flames here, Bobtheduck, but sometimes simple is good. Gunsmoke is a pretty complex place, but Vash simplifies it with his altruistic white and black world view. That's what separates him from the rest of the characters in the series and does, IMHO, make it a good moral comparison. I don't think Vash is the best of examples for us real folk here on Earth, but on the planet Gunsmoke, he's the best there is.

Anyway, I haven't read the manga, but to my knowledge,

[SPOILER] Vash never killed anyone by the beginning of the series. Rem's influence on him came well before the Gunsmoke days. His gunslinging skills come in part from the fact he is a plant.[/SPOILER]
