Has anyone else seen this?

I haven't seen all of it, yet. But I have fell in love with this anime.

I know most that don't like it, because they think its American Idol meets anime.

It's a really good anime. My daughter and I watched it together and she really liked it. Bring along some tissues for the ride though, you're going to need them. At only 3 volumes for the whole series it's well worth the buy.

I know Gypsy is a big fan of the series, and when she finds this thread she'll go nuts.

American Idol meets Anime? That isn't possible. ANYTHING like that must stink.

Oh, I don't know--I've seen more than a few musical animes and they've all come out quite nicely. *cough FMS cough*

Well, that is what some people think that CoS is. But its more then just a singing anime.

Yes, I liked Chance Pop Session very much. The animation style nearly drove me nuts, but the story ended up conquering my picky tastes. ;) If anyone is interested, there's a review for it in the database.

I saw an episode of it from a dvd that fell out of an issue of newtype I got from going to Anime Expo this year. I didn't really like it. It was pretty boring but you can't really judge a series by one episode. I can't really give my full opinion till a see more of it.

Well, Benu, to tell you the truth - although that first episode is rather slow, if you didn't like it then chances are you're not going to care for the rest of the series. You may just want to skip over it and go straight to something with a little more pace to it. ^^ Hey, I haven't seen you around lately. Where have you been hiding?

This title is definately more of a "slice of life" type anime. I have found this not to be very popular among many, but to tell you the truth, it's one of my favorite types because more than any others it helps you to understand the Japanese culture which is one of the reasons I enjoy watching anime.

Nice point, Rev. It's nice to get away from sparkling transformation sequences, screaming out your current attack at the top of your lungs, and explosions in general.

Even the art style of CPS steps out of the norm. While I did't care for the style it much, it was still an interesting change.

I will have to agree with you on that point. It is definately not the animation that holds your attention in the story. It is, in fact, the story itself which is the draw of this title. As you noted it doesn't have the flash or in your face action that other series have, but it's the down to earth feel and the message of reconciliation at the end which makes it a favorite for me.

I think this is one of those anime that most will not like. Its one of those that if you see one of the eps and don't like it, then you will not like it at all.

I know the art style wasn't as flashy as other animes, but I really didn't have a problem with it. I thought of it as a water color art style.

I guess that's true if nothing much changes in the series. I do like to see at least four episodes of an anime though before making an opinion on it. I thought I was gonna like this one though because I do like slower paced animes and ones that really don't follow the rules of traditional animes. But just something about this one that just felt very dull and plain to me for some reason. Oh and about where I've been for awhile.

It's just so much stuff has been going on with me for the past couple of months I just kinda forgot about CAA. Rushing to graduate from High School on time, moving from a church I've been at all my life to a new one, and getting into college just really did a number on my mind. It just came to me finally that I had not been to CAA in a really long time. But I'm back! :thumb:

Wow - glad to see you back! By all means, give Chance Pop Session another chance (heh, a pun) but I don't think your opinion of it will change much. Although, I have been wrong in the past ... once or twice. ;)
