I associate Bandai with Power Rangers, too. LOL
Anyways, I'm glad they're cracking down. I just wish the American companies wouldn't play the ugly American act, and leave the shows in their original form. Obviously the people who buy anime and have supported anime through the years enjoy it for what it is. They don't need an Americanized watered-down version. What would help is if you guys wrote to these companies and let them know that you want your anime uncut and uncensored. And if you don't, then I'd suggest not watching it in the first place. You do have that right you know. I believe they have released many good PBS shows for purchase.
I own a few HK DVD titles that I'm glad I have because the rights were bought by 4Kids, and we know what they do to anime. I also, have recently paid for the entire licensed anime and manga in the states single-handedly. LOL, I'm joking, but I own quite a bit of the products, as Mave will attest. We need to support the ones who bring out the product.
But, I've noticed recently with my local anime store that the gentleman who owns it is really trying to get rid of the rest of his stock of bootlegs. We've discussed this before, and I don't mean I went in there with a bazooka and told him not to sell it. That would have been pretty dumb and judgmental, and a lousy Christian witness to boot. I wanted to find out from a knowledgeable viewpoint of what he thought of the Hong Kong DVDs he sold and downloads. He said actually, it wasn't illegal what he was doing, as long as they weren't licensed. Please nobody jump down my throat for what he said. -__- He wisely told me that if the bottleg market would shut down and the downloading would slow up, then anime would be able to come out here sooner if the buyers see it will be profitable. He said, all the kids who are getting their freebie stuff is hurting it for us to get anime out here. Like he said, once something is licensed, it goes off the shelf and people should respect that. I do respect when something is actually licensed and I think others should as well. If you don't though - you won't hear me complaining - that's your option. I'm not here to judge you, and I sure wish others would realize that we're not here to judge what others do, just to glory in the fact we are brothers and sisters in Christ (I Corinthians 4:1-5, and I John 4)
So, the reason not to buy bootleg is so that we can get our anime licenses and produced out here quicker. Yeah, that's the fix for you anime addicts! Also, if you want to watch a show on download that's between you and God.
I certainly hope some individuals here understand the fact that God didn't place a special sign on them and on it written, "you will be the judge for this section of the Law, now go forth and make sure everyone follows what you say." Because that's an awfully big cross to bear, judge of the world - wait, didn't Christ carry that cross? 0_o Beware of logs falling out of your eye.
[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE
You see into the deepest part of me ---
beyond the fog I hide behind.
You cast your light upon the shadows
that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.
You ease the pain when I am hurting,
and morbid visions from my past
pierce into the realm of Reason
as though I danced on blades of glass.
You grant me strength when I have fallen
and, once again, I've lost my way.
You take my hand in Yours and lead me
into the promise of a brand new day.
You bring order to all my chaos,
yet set my well-laid plans awry.
You place me on a firm foundation ---
then give me wings so I can fly.
You sand away my roughened edges
and polish all the dullest parts
until I stand before Your presence...
a newly-sculpted work of art.
You see into the heart within me,
right through my motives and selfish will.
And yet, in spite of all You see
You say You love me even still.
