Watashi wa . . . ^^

Konnichiwa minna-san! Thank you for taking your time to read about me, a new member of CAA. Please feel free to ask me any questions or comment on the following tidbits. Enjoy! ^_^

Name: teepanee *hint*

School: Biola
It is a private Christian liberal arts university. Biola stood for "Bible Institute of Los Angeles."

Major: Elementary Education

*I'm a second violinist in the symphonic orchestra. Go music!

Myers-Briggs: ESFJ
E: Draws energy from being with people. S: Practical. F: Makes decisions mostly based on feelings. J: Organized, methodical.

Ethnicity: Chinese-American (My Japanese friends say I look Japanese!)

Church: Home of Christians, non-denomination

*I was baptized as a ninth-grader. I come from a non-believing family, rooted in Buddhism and Confucius.
*I'm involved with the worship team (sometimes leading, playing the piano, or singing).
*I teach Sunday School, 2-4th graders.

An Ambition: To create a Christian-themed manga. I look forward to c+c's of my ideas and sketches.

A Few Favorite Verses: Romans 12:1-2, Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 40:30-31, Matthew 6:33

A Few Favorite Hymns: Be Thou My Vision, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Come Thou Fount

A Few Favorite Worship Songs: Not To Us, Blessed Be The Name

First Anime: Dragonball

Animes/Manga I Enjoy: Naruto, Prince of Tennis, Hunter x Hunter (for character development)

Games: Although the time I spent playing RPGs should have been spent more wisely, I loved the computer graphics, character designs, character developments and soundtracks of FFVII-X.

Music: These days I mostly listen to Anime soundtracks and the good classical music (i.e. Enigma Variations, The Planets, Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto). A few songs by the string quartet Turtle Island are really good!

Books: Other than the Bible (of course), I do love reading comics (^_^), manga, and anything else I could get my hands on. I used to read a lot of fantasy-fiction (Riftwar Saga by Robert E. Feist, Redwall Series by Brian Jacques, etc.) I enjoy graphic novels like "Maus I & II" by Art Spiegelman. I've read Christian books on various topics from apologetics to teenage issues, from A.W. Tozer to Janette Oke. =) Eclectic? Yea, I think.

*I love playing the piano.
*I have a fetish for stationery and bookstores.
*I love writing and receiving letters/messages of any form.
*I shy away from any jewelry or make-up (nothing against it). It's just my personality/preference for some reason. =P
*I tried AFROTC for one semester.
*My basic testimony consists of God's faithfulness and my mustard-seed faith, from baptism to Biola.
*In high school I was involved with the newspaper, yearbook, tennis team, and orchestra.
* I love visiting Little Tokyo.
* Pocky rocks!

Why I Joined CAA: I loved anime (and a lil' bit of furry) before I was born again. Five years ago I struggled with growing in my faith and enjoying anime/furry. My interest fluctuated and my faith (with its own ups and downs) steadily matured. Now, I want to use my drawing talent and use it to glorify His name through manga, and I am SO glad to have found such a forum where such topics are discussed by other brothers and sisters. ^_^

AIM SN: Hane no Hikari (literally, feather of light) refers to an analogy told by a visiting pastor. Basically, there is a person (God) on a balcony with many people below (us). He lets a feather float toward a particular person. The feather represents the opportunities He gives us to do His will. But as the feather falls, the person blows it away to another, and others do the same until one person accepts it and lets it land on him/her. So, my SN (like a feather from God) reminds me to recognize and take advantages of the opportunities the Lord decides to give me and instead of just giving them up to others with the mentality of "Oh, I'll do it next time. Let so-and-so do it now."

---

Wow, you've made it! Arigato gozaimas!

Hey, Biola! An acquiantance of mine used to go there, and there's a Biola alumnus at my parents' little fellowship in San Diego.

It's cool to see others' MBTI types. I'm an ENFJ myself. :)

Hi! Welcome to CAA, I hope you like it here! ^-^You might have to get used to the strange people. *lol* Oh, I play violin, too! I play other instruments, and I think violin is definitely the hardest. Maybe I'm just not much for string instruments. I dunno. So, you played tennis in high school? Any other sports? I play basketball and run track, but I wish they had tennis at our school! Or even soccer for that matter...anyway, I'm done ranting I guess.

Thanks haru_bay_nay! I played basketball in junior high. ^_^ I don't really play sports for a hobby, but in the fall I will be taking a soccer PE class and might be a part of a intramural team! I enjoy running -- my personal record is 3 miles non-stop! ;D

The violin is definitely one of the hardest instruments to excel in. Come on. First you have the bow, which concerns 1) bow hand position, 2) keeping it in place while you bow, 3) fluid flexibility while transitioning going up and down, 4) keeping the hair flat and wood a lil' forward, etc. Second, you have your left fingers, which concern 1) firm press on the fingerboard, 2) proximity to the fingerboard while playing, 3) anchoring the side of your index finger, 4) vibrato, 5) shifting to X positions, etc. Yes, CAA, you now know more about the complexities of the violin than you ever wanted to know. O;-D

I enjoyed reading your bio. You do seem eclectic - I can relate to that. *hehe*

I honestly look forward to seeing any art you place here.

I'm with you on these ones, and I think I remember visiting Little Tokyo. Have you ever been to Gardena?

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I know several people who are currently at Biola, and I visited there before I went to college as one of my possibilities for schooling. Man, this is wild. Cool to have you here! I play piano also, and love Prince of Tennis! See ya around the forums...
