*Pulls out a moderator-proof shield* Hold your fire!! I know there are other Last Exile threads, but I have some very specific questions that I didn't think I could just tack onto the end of another thread. So please, withhold your wrath.
Okee dookey! So here's the set up. . . My mother's not exactly thrilled about me liking anime. She never really has been. I think it's probably because she gets that "Anime in nothing but perverted Asian cartoon porn" story from most places. So I was thinking about buying Last Exile to prove that it's not what everybody says. From what I understand it would be a very good candidate for my "anime is not porn" campaign.
So, can anyone who's seen the whole thing tell/confirm A) If there's any sex or nudity in it B)If there's any GROTESQUE violence in this show. We're big LOTR fans, so you know we can swallow alot of stuff, but if there were some really extruciating and brutal torture sequence or something-- well, I'd like to be forewarned. C) What would you say in the language level in this anime. We have a TVGuardian but I dont' think it works with any anime studio releases.
If you haven't seen't he whole series, feel free to respond as well as you can, but if you've seen it all I more zealously covet your complete opinion.
Thanks oooodles for any help anyone can offer.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill.
Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.
Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.
But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality,
