Is the third season/arc of Sailor Moon good for christians to watch?

I've recently started liking Sailor Moon again however... Should I. I know Sailor Moon seems pretty much clean but that whole messiah thing in Super/Infinity arc. Seems to go against our religion you know. I mean I love the movies but the series and the manga. That one thing seems to spoil it. Let me here your opinions.

I really don't have a problem with it. It's just fiction and for entertainment. So as long as you don't buy into it and believe that kind of thing I don't have a problem with it. Now, if it's slandering Christians or God or that kind of thing then I think it should be off limits.

Hmmm, I have seen it dubbed and it doesn't seem too bad . . . the whole messiah and grail thing is a little weird, but I think Naoko is just into mixing religions and thought it would sound cool . . . I don't watch SM anymore after that series cause I felt R was the best, but also the 3rd, Super S, did get a little wierd in many ways . . . the only thing I liked about it was Saturn and Pluto! Theyre so cool! ^^

Sailor Moon is pure fantasy, and isn't to be taken seriously. Keep the right perspective on things. I think you'll be all right.

I'm not really into Sailor Moon...but prayer is probably your best option when it comes to deciding whether something is good for you to watch. And like Shao Feng-Li said, make sure you keep it in perspective.

Third season....aka S season. Unedited, the lesbian couple come in and there's some of that. Edited, clean as a whistle. It's by far not the best season, the first two are so much better. Super S isn't terrible. I wish Stars would come out.
Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

If you're worried about the content of S, Stars maybe even tougher for you what with the gender bending and all. The Stars are male when not transformed, but become female Sailor Scouts. Ranma fans shouldn't be to shocked, but others may. I read once that the delay in producing the final season for the US market is being held up by the Japanese rights holders, who are afraid that that season may ruin Sailor Moon's rep over here.

Anyway, I use this rule of thumb to gauge what I am watching:

1st - Understand that most anime (even those set in the modern world) take place in a fantasy version of the world we know. The laws and mores as we know them can be changed in that world. In other words, the way God is manifest in that world may not be the same way He is manifest in ours, so just because they do something that we would not doesn't automatically make them wrong. If it did, I would not even recommend Lord of the Rings or the Chronicles of Narnia to anyone.

2nd - Know the difference between right and wrong. Regardless of the changes made to the fantasy world, right and wrong don't change. We learn right and wrong from our Lord through His Word. If the show is telling us that what we know is wrong is instead right, than I have a problem with the show. If we are to accept a hero of a show who lies, cheats, and murders his way through an enemy who does not do these things, than he is no hero of mine.

3rd - How do you feel when you watch the show. No God's Word and His will. Talk to Him. If you have a relationship with the Savior, knowing right from wrong is easier (although still not necessarily easy). If you feel uncomfortable watching the show because it's content just doesn't feel right, you should really consider whether you personally should be watching it.

If it fails the first two conditions, it's bad anime and should be avoided. If it passes the first two conditions, but you still just don't feel right about it, then it is probably good for you to avoid it, but it may be OK for others.

First of all great responses termyt and Master Kenzo. (No offense to you others). I want to thank you all for your advice. And after some prayer and thinking heres what I have decided. I will never watch S again! However I will keep reading the manga books I have of Sailor Moon (which is surprisingly the entire Infinity arc). Though that may change. I still will watch the movies and the only anime seasons of sailor Moon I'll watch are SuperS (my personal fav.) and Season 1. I plan on ordering a volume of SuperS soon. Well thank you for your support fellow christians you really helped me. I praise God for this too.

Hmm... I consider all the catholic images in the S season (and that's what the grail and the other relics are... Catholic) to be nothing but window dressing, and the messiah to be "small m" as it were (though, technically, messiah means "annointed one" and not "savior" but I seriously doubt that Naoko knows that...) but you follow the lead you get from Prayer and not my opinion, and things will go well for you...

Personally, the S season is my second favorite season (Stars is my favorite) but it is a matter of conviction as well as taste. As for Haruka and Michiru, the first season has stronger homosexual "hints" than this one does (between Zoicite and Kunzite) though they are "villains" so I suppose that's easier for some to accept... i don't like the 3 adult outer senshi at all... They're just rude, and
In stars, Uranus and Neptune (the lesbian ones) turn on Sailormoon to prevent being separated... They aren't really loyal characters, are they?
Their only saving grace is legitimately caring about Chibi Usa, but that is easily overshadowed considering ALL of them care about her and watch out for her. I don't mind Hotaru, though.

I know this may not be the right thread, but there are no other open discussions of the show, so...
O

the seasons in my prefference

6. The "Doom Tree" arc of R
5. SuperS
4. R
3. Classic
2. S
1. Stars

I put the Doom Tree arc in a different category than just the R season because it was just filler episodes that Toei made until Naoko wrote more of the Manga... It was the absolute worst part of the show, with no tension, crappy lines and characters, and a lot of plot holes and problems and I don't even consider it SM canon...
