Super late response because I just got around to watching this episode.
SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Maybe I haven't mentioned this before, but from the beginning, I've disliked Aika. Something about her personality just really annoys me. XD; Though, I'm satisfied with how things ended up this episode, despite Aika being stronger than Hakaze (which makes sense). So the whole "must keep the past the same, etc." was fine. Coming from the character of Aika, it's not weird that she would do the whole suicide thing. Even she was doubting her own humanity.

BUT, what I'm worried about is next episode. THAT PREVIEW, WHAT WAS THAT???

Prediction: Aika faked her own death and is actually still alive and we are all freaking screwed. I hope Hakaze makes it back to the future soon. 8(

Part of me doesn't agree with the logic of Aika faking her death (why would Hanemura attain the power of Exodus?), but part of me wants to see Mahiro and Yoshino's (and Samon's) reactions to knowing she's alive.

I also have this weird theory that they could avoid disturbing the ships by going into space and destroying the tree from there. Given that we've had magic, alchemy, giant flaming swords, time travel, and alien theories, I think it's a valid option. Maybe.
