Movies everyone else loves and you hate

I know everyone's going to hate me for this, but..... The Dark Knight.

Before I hear nerd rage, let me explain. I am very used to the Joker being obviously sadistic in more ways then one, but yet actually being funny in a very dark sort of way. (Referring to the Batman the Animated Series Joker) The Joker in that movie was just not really at all funny, he was just brutal, and did a lot of stuff like that. Two Face wasn't really done well either IMHO. He just felt flat, and not very deep.

I don't hate you for that either haha, it is my least favorite batman movie ever made, I don't care to watch it really ever again, for different reasons than you though, but I think that's a really good reason to not like it, it makes a lot of sense!

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
I don't exactly hate it, but as a fan of the books, I was disappointed. Yes, I know Fox didn't have much to work with from the book and had to practically create their own storyline but even knowing that, I was disappointed. The majority hated Prince Caspian for some reason and loved Dawn Treader the most. It's the complete opposite for me. Disney did the books justice.

I agree with you guys on The Dark Knight. I didn't see it, but my dad told me how gruesome it was and that the Joker used to be cool and funny. :/

I just rescanned the thread and I just realized there is a HUGE one. A HUGE one that (I believe) nobody has mentioned and it is, to me, one of the most overrated films of ALL TIME.

I hate all those reality comedies, like RV and Elf. My family loves them, so I always end up closing my eyes when they watch them on camping trips. I also hate chick flicks. In short, I hate anything that doesn't have a substantial story line, and relies on cheap jokes and cute guys.
I also hate movies that have characters that creep me out, like Golem in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Sue me if you like, but that character creeps me out.

You're also not into slice-of-life anime, are you? I don't think that something has to have substance to be good, but relying on cheap jokes is irritating. I also find Elf to be annoying. Actually, I dislike most Will Ferrel movies. They all rely on a certain amount of stupidity-comedy that I just can't stand.

Golem is supposed to creep you out. BUT Tolkien made a point of including him, because he's the reference to what could (would) happen to Frodo if he didn't destroy the Ring. You have to have some real reference to how evil is corrupting. Golem made it up-close-and-personal.

Even though I know what Golem exsists to show us, he's still creepy to me. Which is funny, since the rest of my family likes him so much that they all learned to imitate his voice really well, which annoys me to no end.

Secondly, I can understand hating him- but the whole trillogy due to one character?

Also I kinda hate the James Bond movies they have never done it for me (at least the ones i've seen and i dont plan on watching anymore)

Anyway, I am usually the guy who loves the movies people hate (Speed Racer, Sucker Punch, The Green Hornet, etc.) BUT, I do hate the last Harry Potter movie with a burning passion. It is so over the top ridiculous it might as well be self parody--I laughed and face palmed through the whole movie. I can't wait when people are able to look back at it without the "IT'S THE LAST ONE!!!11!!" syndrome and see how terrible it is.

@Crossfire, haha I have seen all the Pierce Brosnan ones ughh they were the worst, they bored me to death, hes so dull. Then I saw one with Daniel Craig (better but still boring), and one with Roger Moore. So yeah I haven't seen any with Sean Connery maybe that is the problem.

Meet the Spartans (Come on, there were literally only two somewhat funny scenes)

Hanna (Had a lot of potential at the start but got worse and worse as the "story" progressed)

Casino Royale (don't like Daniel Craig)

Anger Management. [I predicted the ending half way through the film. It still kind of bugs me because I saw it in the theater and I paid good money to see it! ;( ]

The Indiana Jones trilogy. Raiders of the Lost Arc is a pretty good movie, but it's placement among the top movies of all time makes absolutely no sense. Then the sequel, The Temple of Doom, is pure garbage. Terrible movie. I have no idea how people can pretend like the trilogy is so good when #2 is so awful.

I'd suggest watching one of Connery's movies then. Perhaps start with You Only Live Twice, since it's based in Japan and all.

IMO, Sean Connery is the best Bond of the franchise.

Also adding Hunger Games...The Entire Series is all hype and nothing more. I thought that it will be fun with all the stupid marketing and it was completely boring with wrongfully presented drama. Battle Royale was 100 times more entertaining.

Ocean's Eleven & Ocean's Twelve

I honestly don't know why everyone loves these films. I haven't seen the third one. I found both films to be boring. For good heist films, I recommend Inside Man.

Hmmm... Well, I remember a lot of people raved about The Last Unicorn. So I watched it. It bored me, to be honest... I really don't see why everybody loved it so much. I didn't *HATE* it, but it was just really boring in my opinion. Good potential, but the potential definitely wasn't used.

The Dark Knight.

I don't hate Dark Knight. I think it's a well-made movie. However everyone seems to think it's fantastic and the best Batman movie, and I definitely don't agree.

In fact I'd go so far as to say the two Nolan Batman films I've seen (Batman Begins and Dark Knight) are probably two of my least favorite movies. Again, I don't think they're bad movies. Not particularly. I just don't care for them. They're not really for me, I guess. This is why I didn't go see Dark Knight Rises. I was going to, until I realized I wasn't planning to go see the movie because I wanted to, but because "Well it's the last film in the trilogy so I guess I should." Honestly I'm fine with how Dark Knight ended and have no problem seeing that as the finale of Nolan's Batman films.

But I think the heavy requirement on realism in the films is what did it in for me. I'm not saying goofy is necessary for Batman, but I think TAS is probably the ultimate in what Batman should be. It was interesting, and knew not to take itself too seriously. Because strict adherence to realism was not followed, we got interesting characters like Mr. Freeze.

I also feel that Heath Ledger's Joker, while very well acted and written, was too far of a departure from how the Joker should be. Even in darker Batman stories like The Killing Joke, the Joker was still a clown. He was a Joker. Ledger's Joker, aside from the pencil scene, never gave off the act of a clown. He was basically just another run of the mill anarchist with some makeup on. That was my biggest problem was that Ledger's Joker, if you had removed the face paint, would literally be nothing like the iconic version of the Joker. And that's not always a bad thing. For example, before TAS, Mr. Freeze was just another two-bit villain who made ice puns and froze things. Giving him a tragic backstory was a major departure from how the character had previously been...but it still worked. It also helped that he still made ice puns and froze things too. But Ledger's Joker retained none of the characteristic qualities of the Joker, and that made his portrayal my least favorite. So the movie was not as interesting to me because of this.

Hmm...this is a toughy...a few of you said names of movies I actually liked. (I have seen both the movie and read the book of Howl's Moving Castle and loved them both! )

Um...I guess I'm gonna go with anything with Tom and Jerry. I honestly never liked a whole lot of slapstick humor. My sibs like it...I just don't find seeing other people in pain funny.

Most Disney Channel Movies.....they're so...campy. :/

I would have put Fifth Element on here...but I don't hate that movie. I kinda like it, but not as much as I like something like....Christopher Nolan's work.

The first Spiderman movies.....I used to like them a lot, but as I got older I've lost the taste for them I guess. :/ But hey, it'll hold special memories in my heart. XD

Y'know...I've felt certain ways about certain Christian movies for awhile...like Fireproof or Facing the Giants. I don't hate them....just not as in to them. I think they have good intentions....they're just not the greatest movies out there. Besides, there are better movies that talk about similar subjects....
