hmm hellsing? some of the guys in the church i go watch it, guess the thing that gives the jitters is the way potray the catholics and the vatican not too mention the people always praying before killing the vampires was a bit well comedic at best ^.^ll

Perhaps it would help if you were to detail why not to see Legend of the Overfiend. I am not familiar with it myself, and I thank you for your advice, but it is still helpful to understand why. In particular this applies when giving your rationale to others.

This might have been mentioned before, but maybe not.

Anyone seen "Ninja Resurection"? It's a anime TV series that I watched with my brother. Supposedly a sequel to "Ninja Scroll" (although that status is apparently dubious) I watched one episode and could not finish it. I can stand violence, I can stand pornography, but I can't stand blasphemy.

The story starts during the last stand of the Christian Japanese during the rule of the Tokugawa. If you've read "Silence" by Shusaku Endo you'd know that this depiction of the Christians persecutuions are not historic correct, but never mind. Basically the story is about (more knowledgable members might know more about this) the Japanese Messiah, a legendary character in Japan who is not looked upon a good guy by the non-Christians, and his quest for vengeance on Jubei (apparently not the one from Ninja Scroll) for killing innocent children. It's starts out so epic and stirringly as the Christians prepare to make their last stand and from there everything just goes haywire. This character (I forgot his name) was manipulated by some Satan worshippers who wish to mold him into the anti-christ or something like that. Then there's inconsistancies; at one point they point out that Christians don't kill themselves like non-Christians Japanese, and then you see one character preparing to commit ritualstic suicide. And it gets sort of worse, but I don't want to go into that. My brother, who loved "Ninja Scroll," hated "Resurection" for several reasons which gives me the impression that it's a waste even if you're not bothered by the content.

For the record, Ninja Ressurection was not a sequel to Ninja Scroll. It is drawn from the same legend, and happens to share similar traits, but is not a sequel. Actually, I have not seen either title, so I have little more to say.

I have not seen either title either but I have heard that Ninja Ressurection was absolutely terrible from a technical/literary standpoint as well.

Wow, two from me! Again, I watched all the episodes and not the manga (which has a drastically different plot from what I hear).

Excel Saga the anime is--whacked.

It's basically a spoof of nearly every genre of anime from sci-fi, horror, shoujo, shonen, sports, action, drama and even spoofing dating simulation games with the characters from the Excel Saga manga.

It's one of those animes that you have to keep your eyes glue to the screen unless you miss a joke and if you're watching the subs--a skill to read VERY fast is needed since the main char, Excel, has this rapid-fire non-stop way of rambling contiously. I praise her seiyuu for being able to spout PARAGRAPHS in ONE breath O_O

The anime has no point really, just pure, undiluted humor. At first the humor is clean and just insanely funny (I laughed to that point where you CAN'T laugh anymore). Whatever violence is either overly exaggerated to a point that it takes on a "Tom and Jerry" effect or made so--so--stupid that there's isn't time to object to it since you're probably rolling around on the floor in tears.

But be warned, it seems that the director (Shinichi Watanabe--who cameo himself in every episode as Nabeshin along with the original manga author, Rikudo) got more "brave" in the later episodes and the humor ended up with more and more sexual material.

Also, if you managed to get hold of the true last episode special--don't watch. It's basically an episode where the makers stuff anything they weren't allowed to put in on television. They purposely made it EXTREMELY gorey (they even spoofed their own opening sequence by adding blood here and there), much nudity, and much adult situations (which includes a distasteful scene between a girl and a pedophile scientist). Think something on the lines of the South Park movie.

Excel Saga is a must for those who like a good laugh but I recommend you only watch it if you're okay with ceasing to watch after the episodes take a turn for the worse.

Or better, don't watch at all less you fall into temptation to keep watching

In the first manga volume of Excel Saga, the character Illpalzo (sp?) goes and bashes Christmas for it religious means, just another reason to stay away from it completely.

Also.. It's because of the fact that there really isn't a Christian based anime/manga out there that this one wants to strive to make one, if not the first one...

I am sketchy on the details as I have not/nor intentd to see it but Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend, is classified as a hentai series. Specifically, from the Erotic Horror Hentai genre, which means Lots of rape.
