But none the less, I loved the action scenes they had. I almost find it suprising they didn't rate part 2 "TV-Y7-FV" You know, because of all the fantasy violence. It wasn't that realestic, but it was almost equal to certain episodes of the 4kids dub of Sonic X, and that was ALWAYS rated TV-Y7-FV. Any comments on that?

4Kids was always picky with violence, I'm surprised they didn't just remove everything. But yeah, the second part should have had a higher rating.

I didn't find the actions scenes really that violent. Their opponents were depicted as cute and funny, rather than evil. Two of the most 'violent' scenes came after two of the most funniest and the main 6 was never at a loss or showed fear. It all makes the epic battle feel almost playful while still keeping the greater sense of desperation. Prove that you can have epic battles like this without losing the charm and feel of the show. It shows just how good the creators are at making this show and how much they put into it.

No, I would say it was made pretty clear early on that tehy were evil. They added some playfulness to it when they shapshifted into the Mane Six, but violence is violence, whether done in a playful silly manner, or in a serious tone.

Either way, I agree with your assesments on the battle, however. I do commend the creators on the battle.

Rating systems are strange. One reason the fight scene might not have gotten a higher rating is something commonly called 'replicatability', AKA 'can a kid attempt this at home'. I havn't seen the Sonic X episode(s) in question, but sonic characters are anthromorphic usually, and the fights are often laser gun or fist fights if I remember from what I've seen of the Sonic branded cartoons, and there are humans in some of the shows. They fight with fists and feet a lot, in a manner that a kid could easily copy.

The ponies fight scene, while probably exhibiting the same amount of impacts, featured unicorn magic (and oh how I loved the unicorn machinegun scene), the party cannon, and a lot of bucking and kicks that replicate what a horse does. Much of the onscreen fighting was magical in nature, or just not something a kid could probably do, at least in the eyes of the ratings board, which probably earned them the lower rating.

Okay, I see what you mean. That explaination does explain what I was wondering.

But to change the subject, what was all of your favorite songs from The Royal Wedding?

My favorite of the three? Has to be 'Love is in Bloom', I'm so sure Daniel Ingram is hiding a full version of that song somewhere it's just a matter of how they're going to release it.

This Day Aria. Hands down. They were all great songs though.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I liked "Big Brother Best Friend for Life" the best, actually. It really highlighted what a fantastic singer Twilight's VA is.

Yeah, her singing VA is a really good singer, she just doesn't always do a good job of imitating Tara Strong's voice.

SO late to the party! I watched the first three episodes today, and this show is my new pick-me-up! I was utterly depressed, but this was funny and cute, and I really think it's a great show. Can't wait to see the rest!

So I've listened to "This Day Aria." probably 20 times. I love it. Hands down the best of the season. (Smile is a close second for me)

But as I was listening to this song, I got a funny feeling like I had heard Cadence's singing voice before....

Guys, she's Darla Dimple from Cats Don't Dance

PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one here that's seen that movie and knows about that character.

Because it's PERFECT.

I'm a huge fan of Cats Don't Dance. Darla's butler was epic and loved Scott Bakula from Quantum Leap as Danny's VO. Haven't watched it in a long time though, but now I have even more to look forward to when I do. :)

Season 2 is over and it's little sad. But while s2 is still fresh in our memories let's discuss our favorite quotes from the season. I've done this before and it was a lot of fun and a nice little trip down memory lane. Your highlights of the season and what stood out for you and maybe remember something you forgot. I was going to say 3 quotes, but hey, it doesn't really matter. Let's try not to quote a whole episode though. :P

Well my favorite still has to be the one below my avatar. “Rarity, catch me!” in 'Last roundup'. That was just such a sudden and cute gag and it really took me by surprise.

Not really a quote, but Pinkie Pie's sneeze in 'A Canterlot Wedding' just embodies everything I like about the character.

“Get in the back of the line where you belong!” from 'Putting your hoof down.' Cute rage, we don't get to see enough of that.

And I also have to point out Discord's exploding glass. That was the epitome of his character.

EDIT:
I was right about 'Love is in Bloom', there is a full version. Alright so the news is eons old, but I just found out and it's great to now, I'm looking forward to it.

Pretty much every line when Cherilee and Big Mac said when under the love poison's spell made me crack up.

But, let's see specificially my favorite quotes...

1. Pinkie Pie: Wow, he said 4 evers, that means like FOREVER!

2.Spike: .5? Isn't that, like, less than 1? *Bonk.*

3.Luna: HOW IS THIS? Fluttershy: Okay, perfect, goodbye! *Runs for door, Twilight slams it first, hits door.*

4. Pinkie: YOU BROKE A PINKIE PROMISE!!!!

Yeah, so those were some of my favorite quotes from this season, but there are probably more I can't remember off the top of my head.

My personal standouts for this season were the finale, obviously, the season premire, Secret to my Excess, Hearts and Hooves Day, and Putting Your Hoof down. Secret to My Excess is just one of my personal favorites because I felt the writers really were able to sit down, and write the whole thing well, and not rush anything that was in there. The animation was also really good, and I don't know if the fact that Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie screamed the exact same way was an inside joke or not.

Hearts and Hooves Day, like I said before, was just an episode you'd laugh about. I mean, I couldn't not put this as one of my favorites simply because its the one that made me LOL the most. And the ending was clever on the writers part. Kudos to them.

Putting Your Hoof Down really marks a spot in Fluttershy's character. It was very emotional, kept the funny and good natured tone in the series, and really does show a turning point in Fluttershy's character (as stated previously.) I just think this episode was really well written, and man did they give Iron Will some muscle power!

I don't really need to re-explain why I liked the season premire and season finale. I have already done that after all. But those we really my stand out episodes from this season.

I liked Lesson Zero because of the overall insanity and of the fact that it allowed all other ponies to write letters.

I forgot the name of the episode but its the one where Spike tries to find himself. That entire episode was awesome.

Luna Eclipsed involved a lesson I wish people had learned had learned when I was a kid. Don't judge a book by its cover...Plus Luna is best pony.

I can't tell you that the finale was not my favorite. It was. It ended the season perfectly. If (God forbid) the series ended right now that episode would do the series justice. Im not even sure they are gonna be able to top it. Im seriously hoping the series hasn't peaked. But im worried. They are running out of friendship lessons guys...

My favorite quote: "Dear Princess Celestia...I didn't learn anything!" XD

The episode your referring to is Dragon Quest. And that was a great episode, I just, didn't have too much of a liking to it for some reason.

And, I'm pretty sure they came up with more friendship lessons. The last we heard of season 3 was that they were recording voices in September 2011. Which means that they are either A. finished making the season and are waiting til Fall to release them, or B. They are still doing clean up and such for the animation. That's really my take on that.

And yes, that quote at the end of the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 was an LOL moment. And, its an Applejack quote!

Oh, and here is another one to add to the list of my favorite quotes:

Applejack: Twilight, get my rope.

Nah, there's still loads of lessons to learn, especially if they reach out with wider lessons like they did in 'Lesson Zero', that usually isn't covered by other shows like this.

'Luna Eclipsed' Oh how could I forget the Fluttershy scene, that was just too excellent.

Just about half of Twilight's dialogue in "Lesson Zero".

"She even has her own PEN and NOTEBOOK for when you want to PRETEND she's doing her HOMEWORK!"

I giggle every time at Rarity's "Of all the worst possible things that could happen, this is the! Worst! Possible! Thing!"

I second Applejack's "Dear Princess Celestia... I didn't learn anything!"

My very favorite episodes would have to be "Lesson Zero" (surprise!), "Sisterhooves Social", and "Baby Cakes". Then the two-parters "Canterlot Wedding" and "Return of Harmony".
raider~joseph (post: 1552003) wrote:They are running out of friendship lessons guys...

Only always. :P But I don't think you have to worry about this until we get five or six Rainbow Dash episodes in one season.

And the extended version of 'Love is in Bloom' has been released on HUBs website, I'm all squee about it.

Getting back to quotes though:
I have to add Sweetie Belle's “Oh come on!” in 'Hearts and hooves day.'

And Rainbow Dash in 'May the best pet win':
RD: Coolness. Awesomeness. Radicalness.

Twi: Isn't that all the same thing?

RD: You would think that Twilight, and that's why you'll never qualify to be my pet.

And since everyone is sharing. My favorite episodes are 'Baby Cakes' and 'Sisterhooves Social', after that it gets hard to say which are my favorites, but those that stand out for me are 'A Canterlot Wedding', 'Putting your hoof down', 'It's about time' and 'Ponyville confidential'.

I think most of my favorite quotes of this season came from Pinkie Pie, especially in Hearthswarming Eve:

"It's only cause you mean old pegasus-sus-sus-suses keep making it SNOW LIKE CRAZY!"
"I am a chancellor. I was elected because I know how to think outside the box. Which means... I can also think inside the chimney!"
"I am just about to be brilliant!"

And then some other favorite quotes from the Pink Wonder:

"I have eyepatches stashed all across Equestria... in case of eye patch emergency."
"What?! She had beans?! Ugh, I told her I was snacky!"
"How dare you take the cake!"

The list could go on forever...

And then my favorite episodes had to be Hearthswarming Eve, Hearts and Hooves Day, Lesson Zero, and A Canterlot Wedding.

Phew, what a season guys! All in all, how do you think it compares with Season 1? And what kind of expectations do you have of season 3?

I think season 2 topped season 1 in every way possible and, as I hoped for, we ended up with a really great and wide variety of episodes, even if the order they were aired in felt a bit off. I will say I missed the little story arc that they did in season 1 with the Gala, but I think the final episodes of season 2 makes up for that as well as the continuation that was shown in 'Friend in deed'.

I think I'm going to set my hopes high for season 3, there really is no other way. The creators is still there and doing a great job, most of the writers are still there, VAs are getting hyped about the fandom and trying to their best to please us, John de Lancie is making a return. If anything the creators has only gotten stronger and HUB and Hasbro seems pleased to let them do their thing and puts in their own efforts to feed the fandom.

@Felix And I'm loving your Never Change PMV, there was some really smart editing done with it, really fantastic.

I loved season 2. A little bit more than season 1, but I really liked both. My expectations are extremley high for season 3.

However, I am very concerned about the fact that there has not been any mention or news of season 3 since September when Tara Strong, Michele Creber, and Jason Thyseen confirmed there was going to be. Its starting to concern me.

Actually there was a report just a while back (about less or more than a month) that Top Draw is working on 13 MLP:FIM episodes.
So really no need to worry. :P

@Bio: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! :D

And yeah, I don't think we have to worry a bit about Season 3. It will arrive, and I have no doubt that it will have 26 episodes, even though only 13 have been officially confirmed. I read somewhere that two different studios work on the episodes, so they divide them amongst the two, so thirteen episodes at Top Draw means we should be getting 26 overall again. And with how quickly the popularity of this show is growing, it would be the height of stupidity for the Hub to cancel it right now, so I'd say we're quite safe! I honestly have pretty high confidence in a fourth season too, but that's too far off to get hyped about just yet!

Thanks MOI :)

They're uncovering my source for pony questions.

I like Queen Chrysalis' design, they always seem to give us something special when they're creating the main antagonists. I wonder what they're going to give us next season.
It's crazy how much Chrysalis has been drawn since the end of the season. The artists are spoiling us and I do like the ones where Chrysalis looks a bit like Raziel from Soul Reaver. The Soul Reaver meets The Love Reaver, it has a ring to it.

Chrysalis is actually really scary if you think about it, the more you love someone the more of a target you become. We need some epic bad guy music for her. Something like 'Can you feed the love tonight'. Yeah, I know, I know, I should go join Pinkie Pie off stage.
