Are you speaking about recent episodes or issues? I had meant issues, as in 215 just last week.

On another topic: is the anime currently only at the fight with Itachi? That's one of the better portions of the story: Kakashi gets another fight, we get to see Itachi and both of Kakashi's former teammates do a few things.

SOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooo. . . What's Naruto about? *Ducks and covers head to protect herself from the pelting she knows she will receive*
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

To answer the question...

In a word: ninjas.

In more words: Naruto is the protagonist, a boy with a dream of becoming the elite ninja in his village. Unfortunately, he has a terrible spirit bound inside his body, which leads to his ostricization. The cast of characters quickly expands to include a great many different ninja.

Yeah...there are many different plots...so it's hard to kind of summarize the whole story without getting too much into detail and such. I do highly recommend it though.

I didn't like Shikamaru when he was being apathetic... but he has worked his way up on my list of favorite characters as he has appeared more. Particularly the scene in which he
is holding off several Sound-nin with his shadow bind, but his chakra is seeping away. His thoughts in what he believes are his last moment of life worked wonders for his character in my mind.
Shikamaru happens to be one of my favorites as well.

Anyways, concerning Naruto manga chapters 215 and 216:
I am getting a tad impatient. This battle isn't really an important one although it is cool seeing Gaara's new techniques. However, the upcoming confrontation or whatever happens with Naruto and Sasuke will be far more important in the long run and will most likely decide where the story will be heading for awhile...although I have some suspicians.
As MasterDias said (and I have said previously in this thread) that is what I am waiting for as well. It will happen eventually, but I certainly hope this battle does not go too many more issues. Also, aren't the other four shinobi done with their battles? You'd think they would show up at some point to help out.

I think the battle is supposed to end next issue.

As for the other four shinobi, the various battles were taking place at about the exact same time, although obviously this Kimimaro one is lasting longer since
Kimimaro hadn't changed into his final curse seal form when Gaara first showed up as the other two sounds had
so, unless I'm mistaken, they will probably end up finding each other once the current battle ends.

One thing I really love about Naruto...is that they give all the charactes a chance for the spotlight; a chance to shine. Even the secondary characters...so the viewer/reader really gets a good feeling for the characters and everyone is given a chance to make a difference and show that supporting characters are just as important as the main ones.

That is one of its strengths. There are a great many minor characters that have key roles to play. I wish they would get more time in the spotlight, however. With this recent saga, we have gotten to see some characters more.

On the subject of Sasuke... I feel vaguely sorry for him with his brother and the rest of that issue- but not very. For one, he's been benefitting from his advanced bloodline his entire life, and that alone makes him stronger than many others. In Naruto, he has in essence run into an even more powerful bloodline.

I find it highly ironic that Sasuke says "...then just get better than me." So Naruto does and then this ticks Sasuke off.

*sighs* I do love Naruto (the anime and manga, though I do really like the boy, too) but sadly I do not have the proper connections to get much more than what's in Shonen Jump. Needless to say, this ticks me off. I have to stick to buying the DVD sets, but they get horribly expensive.

Sasuke's necessary, after all, if he isn't there, we'd never see how strong Naruto has become?

on another note, the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke's really ironic. Obviously they do care for each other, as seen in some of the battles, but then they are jealous of each other's ability, and they can turn a completely peaceful afternoon into a fight very quickly. So.. say they're friends? but if you got into my way, you're my enemy..

At the moment, however, they are pretty clearly enemies.

Actually, it annoys me that after the battle with Haku and Zabuza they manage to be on even worse terms than before. While it was handled decently, I still find it obnoxious to swallow for the sake of further plot.

I find the Sasuke vs Naruto rivalry rather annoying too. It's like a major ego deathmatch or something.

The only good thing I see from all this is how rapid and advanced their fighting skills have become. The BIG downside is they're improving themselves for the wrong reasons.

Have they completely forgotten that their original purpose in obtaining ninja skills are to protect their village and loved ones? Instead, you have this whole bunch of incredibly talented kids running around screaming "Revenge revenge, I'll kill you all!!" and "I'll get better than you, just you wait!" :shady:

I find it highly ironic that Sasuke says "...then just get better than me." So Naruto does and then this ticks Sasuke off.

LOL and thus another reason for me to respect Naruto. He doesn't just "talk".

I don't know...I don't really mind the rivalry. I mean...yeah they do constantly try to do better than each other, but at the same time really push each other to their own limits. They help to motivate each other, yet deep down still have a deep respect for each other's talents and skills.

Also...it helps to bring out a bit of their personalities. You get to see another view of them through their rivalry that might have been more difficult to see if it weren't there.

As for their original purpose for becoming ninjas...they still retain them. Sasuke's original purpose of becoming a ninja was to get more powerful in order to kill his brother. Naruto's main purpose was to become the best ninja in the village, in order to be noticed and become the next hokage. And 85 episodes later, their goals still remain intact. They may have gained a few side goals along with their main ones, but their primary goals still exist; not forgotten.

"I find it highly ironic that Sasuke says "...then just get better than me." So Naruto does and then this ticks Sasuke off."

LOL of course it ticks Sasuke off...to not tick him off would be totally out of character for him. Sasuke gives Naruto a challenge...and Naruto takes it and does better...doesn't mean Sasuke has to be happy about it.

Anyway...later on in the series...they're still jealous of each other, but they also look out for each other. They have a special bond that comes from being teamates...and from fighting next to each other. They both develop a very deep respect for each other and I didn't really notice them arguing much at all later on in the series towards the more recent episodes.

As Mave said, we are referring to the most recent issues of the manga, not the recent episodes of the anime. The manga is much further along the storyline than the anime, and certain events of which you would have no knowledge make your comments less true.

Hey, I found this Naruto pic. I thought it was interesting and it looks original (not a fanart or doujinshi).

I'm hoping the admin will allow Sakura's exposed belly this time. I wasn't sure whether I needed to censor it or something. I think they all look very cool, although Sasuke was a little bit of a shocker. Give him some black glasses and he'll look like Shino's twin brother (just for fun, I did such an example, look at the attached files).

Mave: Yep, that's an official pic ^^

Anyway, I agree with both Mave and UC having read up to where they both are as well--things are getting ridiculous in regards to the rivalry. It's gotten to a point where they're saving each other as if to make sure they can be able to kill the other themselves. The most recent chapter however... I'm really dying to know how things will turn out--especially when there's still the forgotten Sakura who would probably be the only one able to hold them together.
