I joined this site mainly to add some missing reviews to the anime section, but I'm not allowed because I lack enough posts. How many do I need to be able to do a review?

I"m pretty sure it's 15 minimum, but it could be as many as 25. As long as you don't post in the goof-off section, it's pretty easy to hit those numbers.

And the reason it's there in the first place is so that trolls and spambots can't mess with it, just fyi. It's been pretty handy so far.

The reason we don't publicise the exact number is we don't want people gaming the board just to get privileges. The idea is to participate!

Even if it did, I think the overall point is to familiarize one's self with the whole board and have a collection of posts in various forums and not just stick with one.

As far as I remember they don't, I may have missed a change on that. Hopefully another mod will come in and confirm/deny.

Edit: Just checked myself, found a person in the mid hundreds on their post count that RP's a lot... they have several hundred posts that arn't counting. Unless they've put all those in goof off, RP still doesn't count.

The few times I rp'd it upped my post count. If it's not supposed to, you might want to fix that....

Thank you for all the responses! The count is annoying, but I can see why it's there, so neccesary evil, I guess*sigh*
but this is a great site anyway, and I'm so glad there are so many active members!

Thank you for understanding, theladyeri! We've had some troubles in the past with people signing up just to dilute the data in the reviews system. We know it's irritating for some of our newer users, so please bear with us. I'm sure you'll find yourself able to post in no time!

As for the RP post count issue, it looks like there has been some confusion due to a minor error in how posts are tallied. The main RP and OOC sub-forums don't actually count toward your total, but the New RPGs sub-forum was not inheriting the settings from the parent forum, so those posts were counting. We updated the back-end yesterday and recalculated the post counts to take this into account, so things should be the way everyone expects them now.
