It is from when he and Quatre were captives of OZ and made into test pilots for the Mercurius and Vayeate.

It definitely has a different feel to it than the last few Gundams. I'll need a few more episodes before I try to get what's up with it.

My favorite part of the show after watching the first episode is the mystery behind what the EU are. Can't wait to find out.

I am 90% sure that twist is that the UE monsters are just mobile suits with humans inside.

AGE episode 2.
It's a newtype girl. Is there any way that it turns out there aren't newtypes piloting the dragons? Meanwhile, lol the Federation. The AGE builder seems kind of silly as a SUPER SPECIAL thing.
I found the first episode to be a little generic, but it's the first episode so whatevs. I'll be watching the whole thing no matter what.

The art style is growing on me.

Crazy AGE spoilers got leaked to 2ch by an alleged Level-5 employee. If these turn out to be true, it'd be veeeeeeery interesting.
NO SERIOUSLY THESE ARE HUGE SPOILERS

Q: What is the true identity of the enemy?

A: They're futuristic robots developed by the protagonist's company. However, they weren't developed in the present. They're coming from 100 years in the future.

Q: Even though they're enemies, what's their motivation in all this?

A: Actually, the robot army aren't the true enemies. There are others. 100 years in the future, they [the true enemy, presumably] have destroyed the Earth.

Since they can't defeat them with the technology developed in the future, they go back in time in order to force technological innovation by pressing the protagonists/ Earth Federation in the past. So they recognize that the deaths of Earthlings is a necessary evil: it's all for the sake of Earth in the future.
Resisting urge to look...

AGE is beginning to feel very Gundam-y. The combat is fun, the newtype girl is interesting, noble sacrifices.

DODS Rifle to AGE was a straight up call back to Dividing Driver to Gaogaigar. And I loved it.

Grodek is from Megaman X4.

The director seems to be in a perfectly healthy mental state, so probably no.

Okay, so, I ordered something from Amazon.co.jp and now they won't stop sending me emails about anime BDs and stuff. But, they also have preorder rankings for the week. This is the top 5 right now:

1. Fate/Zero BD Box I (not surprising)
2. Gundam SEED HD BD BOX 1
3. Gundam UC 4 BD
4. Gundam SEED HD BD BOX 2
5. Gundam SEED HD BD BOX 3

why щ(゚Д゚щ)

Feh :I At least Unicorn is on there.

Personally I think SEED would look like absolute crap in HD.

I have no doubt that Destiny will sell a bajillion when it gets its BD box release. After all, the original DVD releases sold better than SEED.

That's craziness. The TV ratings did less than half of what the original SEED did. I thought this was the Japanese voting with their remotes. Wrong again, I suppose.

Apparently nobody watches anime on TV in Japan?

Was SEED, er, "shot" on film or is it all digital? The reason a lot of old shows clean up so nicely is because they're on film (look at the Zeta Gundam Blu-rays). Plus SEED never looked that good in the first place if you ask me. I would think HD would just emphasize how bad the animation is.

If I had to guess, I'd say the more casual audience that were watching SEED because it's Gundam and stuff probably dropped off when they saw what Destiny was, but the crazy people like the otaku that bought Endless Eight stuck around and had to buy Destiny.

Anyways, when I have more time I think I'll have to join you AGE people since I am too busy with LoGH to be watching Zeta.

But, according to our own Master Dias, ratings aren't great overall for AGE. The last two have been better, but the second and third episodes did not fare well.

Frankly, I just throw my hands up.

The same thing that's happening in the US is probably happening in Japan-- people aren't watching stuff live as it airs, or even watching it on TV at all. Therefore ratings numbers can be pretty inaccurate at times.

Seed was the first Gundam TV series to be partially drawn digitally on computer. All the Gundams before it where all hand drawn.
