The community for this show is pretty interesting.

I watched an episode some time ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't go any further though, I simply have too many other shows I'm focusing on right now.

When I saw the caption below, I loled.

On another note: The amount of MLP sprays people have made for games like L4D2 is astounding. I can't say I'm a victim of the My Little Pony spam, though... As I find myself using the odd image now and again.

The appeal is that the show's executive producer was Lauren Faust. She's most known for her work on Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Powerpuff Girls.

The appeal is that she created a show that doesn't talk down to children and avoids a lot of the tropes and problems that plague entertainment for young girls. Most notably, the ponies each have distinct and different personalities, as opposed to all just being interchangeable in every situation and going "Tee-hee shopping and boys!" every five seconds.

I dunno, but I find it really creepy.

Because clearly liking things that kids like make you a pedophile. Guess if you like reading Narnia, you are totally a massive pervert who loves little boys.

As C.S. Lewis once said, despising things from your childhood or refusing to consider anything that is meant for children is not maturity but stupidity.

It's good because it's made in a similiar style to the cartoons we're used to. And the show has good characters. They're not all just girly girls doing girly things like the original ponies were. The characters are loveable and the stories are funny and witty.

Also, the animation style is fantastic.

You mentioned that it was creepy for older guys to like FIM. I responded that with that reasoning, you could easily say it's creepy for someone to read Narnia or any other childhood literature when you're older. Calling us creepy isn't being respectful.
But anyway I'll drop it.

I think the point is that a lot of people have the following mindset:

This show/book/movie/whatever is for children. Therefore, it sucks.
This show/book/movie/whatever is for little girls. Therefore, it sucks.

MLP disproves those stereotypes and Lauren Faust has said that she aims to break that mindset. It's unfair and downright idiotic to assume that something made for children and/or girls is terrible simply because the intended target audience is children and/or little girls.

I mean, Avatar: The Last Airbender wasn't meant for anyone above age 12, but a good chunk of the fanbase is older than that. The same kind of phenomenon is occurring with MLP.

At least you decided to give the show a chance before making a judgment call on it. That's more than what a lot of people who don't get it do.

No you're not. I'm hoping for the same thing as well. With season 1, we got to see a lot of what daily pony life is like, but now that the normal world is established, it can be shaken.

Plus, Discord is gearing up to be the perfect villain. It should take more than two episodes to get him out of the picture.

From what I understand Discord is going to be a consistent villain throughout the season. From what I've read, he was supposed to be introduced in the last episode of season one (which would explain some things like why the animals were scared of Fluttershy maybe?), but they moved it to the beginning of this season.

But I don't think the show is suddenly going to turn into "Superhero fight time!" every episode or something. Discord could be a very subtle villain, working behind the scenes to cause strife in the everyday lives on the ponies, like the Fluttershy thing, or to use an example from another episode, maybe Discord does things like hypnotize Photo Finish into obsessing over Fluttershy to upset Rarity. Things like that.

But it's all speculation at this point...still, roughly two weeks until new ponies!

You know, maybe Discord could cause some racial strife amongst the ponies if he uses his abilities to sow as much discord as possible.

I mean, unicorns are the only race of ponies that can use magic, pegasi are the only ones that can fly and create the weather. Earth ponies are kind of the normals of the pony universe. Maybe Discord could work behind the scenes to convince the unicorns and pegasi that they are somehow better than the earth ponies, thus leading to stife.
