Why was her past coming back to haunt her now? She grimaced inwardly. She didn't want to relive those dark days. Not now. Not ever.
She lifted her head when Van shouted her name and realized he was only a few strides away, she covered the distance, before his shots rang out and before she knew it, she was yanked behind a stall. Isabella's twin colored eyes stared up at Van as sweat trickled down her neck.
"Are things always this exciting with you? Because I know they are with me." She glanced around the stall. And her eyes were re-directed to a glint of light. She lifted them and then her blood ran cold, and a feeling like a cold-hard dagger, plunged her heart. There was Quinton, on the rooftops. And he was looking right at her. She cursed. "We are in serious trouble." She said, grabbing Van's arm. "That guy, on the roof. He's the one we need to be worried about." she jerked her head at Quinton. "A trained and very deadly assassin."
Destroyer2000 (post: 1492615) wrote:Van glanced up, and his eyes widened. "That guy?" He cursed. "Great. One insane guy chasing us, another who might actually stand a chance of killing us." He looked towards Isabella, and sighed. "Looks like we are in this for the long haul."
Locking eyes with the assassin, Van felt his blood turn to ice. Something about the man's stare sent chills down his neck, and excitement crawling up his spine. "Normally, things are quiet for me. I'm a part-time pickpocket. I annoy people, get a fight started, and rob them blind. I slip away in the aftermath." He paused. "So, you normally get followed by insane people, chased by assassins, and generally put the lives of everyone you come into in danger?" Van chuckled. "Sounds like a party. Now, you said this one," jerking his head towards Quinton, "is a threat. Let's see about that."
Never taking his eyes from Quinton's, Van aimed both guns at the man, and, licking his lips, grinned fiercely.
Nami (post: 1492616) wrote:Isabella took her eyes away from Quinton for a moment, and saw the look that gleamed in Van's eyes. It was different from that look he had held not to long ago. And she knew it pretty well, it was a look of excitement for the game.
"It's like a bloody party!" She retorted, eyes narrowing. She watched him take aim. "Shoot the bloody man." She snarled, while kneeling next to him. If he could at least wound Quinton, they might stand a chance of escaping. She wasn't normally this worked up, but Van's glee was rubbing off and she felt a thrill shoot through her. So, was this was it was like to stare danger in the face and sneer?
-----------
Quinton's eyes narrowed even more, if possible, when he noticed that vagabond taking aim at him. "What a little kid." He muttered. His feet carried him across the next rooftops, he was close now, so close. His eyes shifted away from Van to Watari, if he lost Watari, he would kill those two kids. Though, he didn't realize at the time, what a big mistake it was to take his eyes off the real danger. The one with the guns pointed at him, he was more interested in not losing his target. It had always been a flaw in Quinton, if he thought someone wasn't a real threat, he would ignore them. It hadn't ever proved deadly, yet.
Destroyer2000 (post: 1492621) wrote:"Shoot the bloody man!" Isabella snarled at him, and Van grinned even more widely than before.
The shots exploded, sound and light expanding and enveloping the barrel of the gun, the wooden hilt sending quakes up Van's arm. He cursed. "You bloody, buggering bullet!" Van slammed the hammer down on one gun, then the other, sending a continuous stream of fire towards Quinton. The smoke that emanated outwards from the tips of his pistols, blocking their view of Quinton, and inversely, his view of them.
When the first revolver clicked, Van glanced sideways and lashed out with his foot, knocking Isabella under the cart. Van holstered the first pistol, and, slamming his back against the side of the cart, waited for the smoke to clear.
Nami (post: 1492623) wrote:Isabella covered her ears as the gunshots rang out and she felt the burning heat as the bullets flew. The smoke wafted up her nose and she coughed, it was the burning taste of the gunpowder that shocked back the memories she had been barring. Images flashed before her eyes, color, light, darkness, glitters of smoke and flashes of smell. Mostly, the smell of burning hair, metal on fire, the taste of steel. Isabella winced hard. 'Stop! Don't think about that!'
She felt her feet swiped out from under her as Van kicked her, and she was forced under the cart. She gasped as the air rushed through her lungs. She coughed, dazed for a moment. Then Isabella focused her eyes and looked out from under the cart, she saw Van's back pressed against it. He was waiting for the smoke to clear. She wanted to see it too, was Quinton still standing?
------
Quinton heard the gunshot before the bullets flew. He cursed repeatedly and dodged the first few. A shriek of pain jolted him and he winced, refusing to cry out. He dropped to the roof as the smoke blocked his view of the street shooter. He glowered. 'That rotten little brat, I'll have to teach him a lesson.'
Quinton went to stand after the gunshots stopped, blood poured from a bullet wound. 'He actualy hit me...' he sat still, somewhat stunned by this. 'He's good. But I'm better.' Quinton hopped to his feet and unholstered his guns, though he would pursue Watari, he wanted to teach them a lesson. He cocked the guns. "You wanted fun, here you go." His steely cold eyes held no remorse as he fired off rounds at the cart. Whether he hit them or not, he didn't really care. He stopped firing before his chamber emptied.
"Time to catch the swine." He muttered, and winced as the wound ached. He looked down at it, it was bad, but it could have been worse.
----
Isabella stared in shock, above her, in the cart, were bullet holes. None of the bullets had hit her. But as she cocked her head, the bullets formed her shape. She gulped, fear seizing her by its iron grip. 'He could have killed me.'
Isabella saw the burn and grabbed his wrist instead, so she wouldn't hurt him further. She crawled out from under the cart and sighed, grabbing her sack. "Well, don't worry, if you join our crew, or at least just ride you might be able to earn some money to buy newer, better ones." She smiled a bit. Still trying to recover from the situation.
"Come on, if we hurry, we can get that treated before it gets bad." Isabella shrugged her sack, adjusting it so it would be comfortable on her back. "Let's go."

Watari heasitated only long enough to see Quinton return fire, then his pistol was rising. Watari fired once, then twice, then continued to unload his clip into the direction of Quinton. Watari hoped, prayed, wished, that he would hit Quinton and remove the scourge that his existence was upon his life.

"My apologizes. Of course you must be wondering who I am, sorry, that was rude of me." She brush a hand over her brown bangs and held out her hand. "I'm Rellia Torvick." Her pale skin seemed to glow in the semi-lit docking bay. And her half-quirked mouth gave her a spunky flare. Her eyes drifted to Vaughn, and back to Adele.
"I'm a metal worker, and I was wondering if your Captain might be interested in having his ship repaired. I specialize in that sort of thing." She could only hope that this woman had never heard of her, or her blacklisting experience. If she could get a job fixing this plane, she might actually be able to make some sort of money.

Vaughn blinked when he heard the girl's name, and mumbled to himself, "Rellia Torvick?" Vaughn's vocie was audible yet low as he continued, "I should know that name... Yes, i do know that name!"
Vaugn grinned at his accomplishment, oh he knew of this girl, word travels fast in a town full of old gossips and buisnessmen. She was the talk of the town as far as weary buisnessmen go. Vaughn wouldn't be surprised if she was at the end of her rope comming here looking for work.
It wasn't surprising with her history that noone would employ her. but Vaughn wasn't about to tell Adele that, besides, she was hot. Vaughn cocked an eyebrow and continued, "Yeah, Adele you should know something about her!" He paused for dramatic effect, "She's a first class mechanic and metal worker! Heard it form a reliable source!"

Isabella peered around the next bend and nodded. "This is the way." she paused by the docking bay door. "I hear voices..." she looked in and hesitated. Adele was with another strange guy, and a strange... was that a girl? "Let's wait a minute." She whispered to Van, curious to see what would happen.
-------
Rellia stiffened, this man knew her. She resisted the urge to glare darkness into the man's very soul and smiled at Adele. "Whoa! Hold there boy." She said holding up a hand, "I may have a small set of skills as a mechanic. But I am a born metal worker, through and through. I honestly couldn't fix an engine to save my life."
She chuckled, "but, your baby looks like she could use a hand. And, I'd be honored to help you out." she shrugged. "That is, if I can speak to your captain?

She smiled appreciatively. "Thanks Ms...?" She paused. Waiting for Adele to fill in the blank.

Isabella's eyebrows frowned in and she scowled fiercly. 'Another mechanic?' the idea that her position might be challenged was almost too much for her to bear, but when the girl objected to it, her temper simmered down. 'Alright, as long as she isn't horning in on my job!' she thought. "Blast our Captain." She muttered. Why did he always have to disappear without warning?
"Van, come with me." She addressed him, and lead him into the docking bay, her sack was getting a bit heavy on her back and she didn't want to wait around for their Captain.
"Oy now, Adele." She shouted as she came toward the small group. "I bought some of the parts that were needed..." she glanced at Rellia, "and this, here, well, he needs to talk to the Captain." She shrugged, "Van, I forget the rest of his name, but Van here is an excellent gunman, seeing as how we have had trouble at our back since our stupid Captain fouled up. I thought it might be a good idea." she glanced again at Rellia. Who smiled.
"Who're you?" She grunted.
"Rellia." She replied.
Isabella snorted, "I've never seen a woman who looked more like a man." Her brusque attitude startled Rellia, and she blinked rapidly. Rellia had been in many situations that involved people. She was used to all sorts of reactions to her being. However, this was just plain rude. She grinned. This woman was definitely different.
"Well, I know I don't dress super girly, or even at all. But as a metal worker, one must learn to be careful."
Isabella nodded, "interesting." She shifted the bag and narrowed her twin-colored eyes at Adele's friend. "And who the heck is that?"

"Thanks Ms...?" Rellia said expectantly with a smile.
"Adele Larkin." she said with a smile as she extended her hand to Rellia to shake it. Before there hands could make contact, Izzy and a handsome looking man came tromping up.
"Oy now, Adele." shouted Izzy abruptly as she approached the group. "I bought some of the parts that were needed..." Her sentence was interrupted tempararily by the sight of Rellia. "and this, here, well, he needs to talk to the Captain." Adele assumed she was speaking of the tanned young man behind her. "Van, I forget the rest of his name, but Van here is an excellent gunman, seeing as how we have had trouble at our back since our stupid Captain fouled up. I thought it might be a good idea." Izzy again set her eyes on Rellia who smiled back her politely. "Who're you?" she asked gruffly.
"Rellia."
Izzy scoffed at the girl. "I've never seen a woman who looked more like a man."
Poor Rellia looked like she had been struck. Adele couldn't believe what Izzy had just said and felt bad for the girl.
"Well, I know I don't dress super girly, or even at all. But as a metal worker, one must learn to be careful." replied Rellia.
"Interesting." said Izzy as she adjusted her bag and then layed her eyes on Vaghn. "And who the heck is that?" asked Izzy rather rudely.
Adele's mouth fell open for a moment and she closed it. "U-um.." She attempted to reply, but Vaghn interrupted her. Adele frowned. She beginning to tire of getting interrupted. She could remember how she could never get a word in edgewise when Vaghn and her were kids.
"My name is Vaughn, I'm Adele's cousin and life long friend. and who might you be miss mouth too big for her head?" retorted Vaghn looking rather smug.
Adele flinched inwardly expecting an explosion from Izzy and she didn't expect it would be pretty. She wanted very much to hit Vaghn because of his stupidity. Adele's attention was again divided as the handsome man began to speak.
"You guys? THIS is your ship? The ones who can't fly it?" He cursed. "I saw you come in, trailing smoke and flame..." he trailed off..."I, ah. Bloody me."
Adele starred at him as he spoke. Anger welled up inside her. "Excuse me! D-" She was interrupted yet again.
"I apologize, milady." He said with a short bow after regaining his composure. He glanced around him noticing the other women and grinned widely. "Miladies."
Adele turned red with anger as he suddenly became a gentleman in the blink of an eye.
"Excuse me?!" she cried, her face now thoroughly red. "Watch your mouth! Or the only thing you will be seeing is our dust as we take off leaving you behind!" She let out a huff. "Learn some respect and maybe me and the captain will discuss hiring you." She said angrily.

Vaughn then turned his attention to Van and spoke evenly and friendly, "Sir you are a vagabond, and a bad one at that. Already i could have taken that precious pistol several times." Vaughn drew a pouch out of his pocket and tossed it to Van. "This is yours," He grined amusedly, "you'd better become a gentleman before you talk like one."
