Back to Dead Rising 1 after a long hiatus (got tired of starting from the beginning every time). My character is currently at level 27 of 50 in terms of upgradeability and I managed to get to the big guy in the gun shop (who took me out in a couple of seconds). I then started from the beginning YET AGAIN, but this time I'm going to save the game as much as I can and restart from that point if I die instead of from the beginning again cause I can't remember the last time I actually FINISHED a flipping game! (PS The trailer for the new "Dead Rising 2: Off the Record" looks rather interesting, although Frank seems to have let himself go some LOL).

I also am playing L.A. Noire, and find it to be an excellent game in every respect, even though I completely suck at it.

L.A. Noire might just have to be the first full-priced game I've bought since the Playstation days. The only thing I'm not loving so far is the driving, and that's only because I am absolutely horrible at it. Everything else is gold (In my incredibly biased, Rockstar-fangirl opinion.)

Moondivers from xbl arcade.
It's a lot of fun, leveling your character and what not.
And using the different types of attacks.
Colors in the game are great too.

Just started Dead Rising 2. I still would rather have the first game, but it annoys me that this LOOKS like the first game. By that, i mean it looks like a first generation 360 title.

It is fun, though. Just not as fun without the camera.

Playing Resident Evil 5. I know...old, but fun. Thinking about playing with someone, but its been forever since I've played the PS3 so I need to get used to the controls before I let down my soon to be partner.

Bob thanks for the heads up. I've been wondering if I should get it, but it doesn't sound as good as DR1 to me. Hopefully DR2: Off The Record should be more promising.

Currently playing DR1. Got Frank's stats up to level 33 of 50 (aiming for that elusive maximum level 50 that I'll hopefully reach one day). I think I might be getting the hang of the game. You don't HAVE to save people, but it'll help you level up quicker if you do eg. I saved 3 people in one go and my stat points did a MAJOR jump. Annoying as heck though when you miss a crucial point in the game and have to start over again...

I started Fire Emblem. The GBA one without a subtitle. This time I'm not caring about rank or funds and just going for raw experience. Though it has been a pain to keep everyone alive while doing this, recently I've been able to turn some "stay alive for X turns" missions into "kill everything" missions.

I finished Sands of Destruction. Does anyone care about it? I'm guessing not. Interesting due to lost potential, not notable otherwise.

Meanwhile onward with SMT: Strange Journey:
- Thanks to the Asura statue, entirely prepared with a party reflecting/nulling fire.
- Ouroboros was the first boss that made me stop and fuse a different party. 160 regeneration every turn?
- Enjoying Sector Fornax thanks to added elements like Jack's Squad and the old bosses getting revenge. Good times.

I tried out my imported-from-Japan copy of Jump Super Stars, which is a fighting game featuring all the most famous Shonen Jump heroes. Loooool XD But I think I'm going to have to look for walkthroughs or something, because obviously it's all in Japanese and I haven't been able to figure it out quite yet. (Admittedly, I didn't get a whole lot of time to experiment, because my battery ran out.)

Got Gears of War 1 this weekend at a discount sale to see what all the hub bub's been about (since it spawned two sequels) and gave it a go tonight. I must admit I've never been THAT good with first person shooters. I'm having a bit of difficulty with the duck and cover then shoot routine. Only played it for about an hour though. Hopefully I'll get better with it as time goes by, or I'll just sell it. Maybe I need to find someone to play it with.

Also recently purchased Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix for my PS2 and played it as well tonight. Again a genre I don't normally play (racing) but I must admit I found it rather cool racing at high speeds through Tokyo. Again though, I probably need to find someone to play with. All this solo gaming is getting rather depressing :-/

I'm starting to follow the development of Fortress Craft! It's at like version 1.03b on xbox with many notes for planned development.

If you end up getting it, whatever you do when you start building your fortress/town/house/city/roads whatever! Make sure you do not allow guests to edit your place, i learned the hard way....

I don't know if you've played any Fire Emblem games before Blazing Blade but if you haven't, the ideal number of dudes to have as your core army that you focus your experience on is twelve, which is the usual number of units you can bring to a map and means you only have to cut two people on Endgame. Fire Emblem is something that becomes easier the more you play it, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Speaking of my favorite game franchise, I've been working my way through FE8, or Sacred Stones, again. I'm going to see if I can actually finish a hard mode.

I played Sacred Stones and decided I wanted to play more of the series. Most of the time I have no problem, but I occasionally have people die on maps where you need to rush multiple places at once if you want to get something/someone or stop NPCs from sucking up all your experience. In trying to level as much as possible, I end up trying risky things.

The party I've ended up using: Eliwood, Hector and Lyn for obvious reasons. Rebecca and Wil so I can have dual Snipers with an A-level Support. Both Serra and Priscilla to offset all the damage I'm taking being reckless. Matthew, Oswin, Guy, and Florina for the utility of their respective classes. Eck promoted early due to getting lucky in an arena, and we'll see if my secondary mages end up with decent stats.

In Sacred Stones I used a bunch of cavaliers, but for some reason I haven't found them as useful in this game. I have Kent and Dorcas as backup characters when the others aren't available.

Yeah, it does kind of suck when you have to rush to a village or that chapter with Pent where he can do the map by himself. Typically, I use your starting paladin until whatever flier you have planned for your team can survive on its own.

That's interesting that you decided to use both Wil and Rebecca, they're both usable, though I think Wil is too slow personally, but I'm surprised you went with two snipers, since bows are a support class that you don't really need an extra of. The same goes with Priscilla and Serra, actually, I guess, since by the time you need a second healer you should have promoted your offensive magic user by then, which can be a useful secondary healer. Typically it's hard enough to level one healer so I'm surprised you went with two. How have both those combinations worked for you?

As for cavaliers, you probably haven't noticed this yet, but in Fire Emblem games the two cavaliers you get at the beginning have a speedy cavalier, typically with green armor though occasionally red, and a powerful cavalier, typically with red armor though occasionally green. So for this, Kent is the Abel(fast) archetype and Sain is the Cain(power) archetype. Lowen, the third, is pretty much a Knight only on a horse, so he's got really high defense and can be plug a hole just as well as Oswin or Wallace, though he is a little weak on the strength side, if I remember.

Personally, I think Sain is the best, as he can get a pretty good start experience wise because of Lyn's tale, and even though he's mainly a heavy hitter, he's not so slow that he won't double attack most enemies, while Kent and Lowen typically don't hit hard enough to kill an enemy in one battle.

Sorry if I'm talking too much, I'm a pretty big Fire Emblem fan and there doesn't seem to be much discussion of it here.

I wouldn't post here if I didn't want to talk about games in depth sometimes, so no worries.

Interesting that you use the starting paladin. I've typically avoided almost all pre-promoted units. Of course, I get the obvious tradeoff of having my pegasus knight occasionally die when I'm being too risky going for experience.

Two snipers isn't working out. They're good units, but like you said I don't really need two. If they have the jump on melee units they can one shot them in a turn without taking damage... but so can most of my good characters.

Two healers hasn't been a problem for me either here or in Sacred Stones. I keep several staffs on hand and have them heal even the 1hp from leveling, so they usually level faster than some of my less-used combat units. Mostly I use them early for splitting up my party into two groups, since you don't get Psychic and other healing options until later. While maybe having another combat unit would be better, two healers seems to work best for me to ensure no one near the front lines has any damage.

The whims of the RNG gave Kent better strength than Sain during Lyn's tale, which is why I've been using him. But as I've said, I haven't found as much use for cavalry in this game. I basically just use him to carry people around and occasionally to kill weak units so my main fighters can advance. Interesting about the armor color coding, though.

Oh, I don't use Marcus after the first few chapters, in fact, I mostly strip him of his weapons to use as either bait or to plug a whole so I can level a ranged combatant. The Jeigan character is almost always useless, but they do have a few things they're good for, like rushing to villages when whatever flier you're using is still a low level unit.

As for prepromotes, there's a couple that are good like Pent, but they're mostly to be avoided. I guess Harken is okay but that's just because heroes are overpowered.

If it isn't working for you, I'd probably suggest cutting Wil. He's not a bad unit, but I've found that Rebecca's speed makes her more useful over Wil, though I guess I'm usually counting on a support with Sain as well when I use her. I'm not sure how far you are, but Pent is probably the best option to replace him with if you're in the later stages of the game so you can't raise a lower level unit up.

That's surprising that you haven't had much of an issue with them, I guess since Serra has that huge lead from Lyn's tale it might be easier, but I've typically found healers are a pain to level until after they promote, even when you heal every wound, though I suppose it would be nice to be able to divide your force without losing a healer.

One of the interesting things you learn about Fire Emblem the more you play is all of the various character archetypes. In addition to Cain and Abel, there's the starting paladin archetype, which is named after Jeigan. A green-haired archer that joins your party early on is another, though I don't remember a lot of FE fans commenting on that. There's the Est character, who joins late in the game ridiculously underleveled but has incredible growth rates. There's a few more, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Speaking of Fire Emblem, I picked up my run of Hard Mode on The Sacred Stones up again, so I just finished chapter eleven on that.

Castle Crashers on 360. I'm trying to get my character leveled up enough so I can be useful when playing on Live with other people (got kicked the other day cause I wasn't powerful enough and died the whole time LOL).

It's an awesome little game. You start out with one of four knights, each one with a special ability (fire, lighting, ice, some kind of poisonous gas), all at level one. As you go along, your character will gain experience points, unlocking more combo attacks, more powerful magic attacks, increased damage, speed, health, defence, etc. You'll also pick up more powerful weapons and accessories (health potions, bow and arrows, bombs, etc) that you can store. On top of all that, you get little animal helpers that'll help out in difference scenarios (little sea dragon that'll help you when you're in water, or a little bat that helps you attack, or an owl that'll help you find fruit in trees, etc). And if that's not enough, there are LOADS (I think over a 100) characters to unlock that can ALSO level up and get new moves. It's all done in the style of a Flash game you'll find on the web, but just because it looks simple doesn't mean it is. The game is HUGE and is super fun when playing it with other people. I highly recommend it :)

So I'm not a big remake person, but I guess I'm playing the GBA version of FF6. The only time I played that game was when I was pretty young and it's a new translation, so hopefully it'll be worth it. Also trying to low level game until I have the Espers I want.

Do you have any advice for leveling fliers in the early game? They're good units, but at the start they always feel weak/fragile and I mostly level them with pity experience.

I didn't need someone to replace him since I had enough good units. But actually, I just finished the game. My final chapter party was Eliwood, Lyn, Hector, Nils, Athos, Florina, Oswin, Nino, Priscilla, Erk, Wil, and Dorcas.

I dropped Serra toward the end since my units weren't taking much damage and Priscilla has better movement. Though Rebecca was faster than Wil, he was still double attacking everyone and he had better strength.

The fight with Nergal was fun but I was a little disappointed by the final boss. Its defense and set attack make many units useless, whereas your lords with the sacred weapons can do all the damage you need. I was all prepared to use Nils/healing/rescuing for a long fight but with everyone mobbing the dragon I killed it in one round. The fact that Athos can use Luna helped.

Apparently Hector's mode has new missions and story, so I might play that later. I'll probably try to focus my party more, with one archer and one healer. But I'll do that later since I've had enough Fire Emblem for now.

Nino in this case. I managed to promote her, but her Magic stat just wasn't high enough to compete with my other magic-users. She ended up only being good for weakening melee units.

Infinite Space

I'm up to Chapter 6 of this. It's quite fun/addicting and the story is interesting, but I could do without the occasional difficulty spikes. Chapter 5 had several particularly nasty consecutive battles. This is tailor-made for people who like stats and customization, between the Suikoden-esque character recruiting and the spaceship simulation.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance for the GameCube, and its sequel, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn for the Wii are both worth playing if you get the chance.

I haven't played it, but there is also Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon for the DS which is a remake of the first NES Fire Emblem.

They have also remade the third Fire Emblem (the first SNES Fire Emblem) on the DS but Nintendo, for some reason, hasn't seen fit to localize it.

It mostly needs to be pity experience in the early chapters, since most of your enemies are bandits. I've found they typically work well with archers, who also are pretty useless at the beginning as well, so they can both get EXP. Otherwise, just use them to fight whatever non-bandits there are.
I didn't need someone to replace him since I had enough good units. But actually, I just finished the game. My final chapter party was Eliwood, Lyn, Hector, Nils, Athos, Florina, Oswin, Nino, Priscilla, Erk, Wil, and Dorcas.

I dropped Serra toward the end since my units weren't taking much damage and Priscilla has better movement. Though Rebecca was faster than Wil, he was still double attacking everyone and he had better strength.
That seems like a pretty solid party. I'm a bigger fan of Bartre than Dorcas, honestly, but otherwise those are pretty excellent units.

The fight with Nergal was fun but I was a little disappointed by the final boss. Its defense and set attack make many units useless, whereas your lords with the sacred weapons can do all the damage you need. I was all prepared to use Nils/healing/rescuing for a long fight but with everyone mobbing the dragon I killed it in one round. The fact that Athos can use Luna helped.
I'm surprised you found it that easy, actually. I've found in my games that Lyn typically doesn't do enough damage to make it worth having her attack the final boss, and Eliwood has consistently bad stats for me. One time, in fact, he didn't get a strength up until he hit level sixteen, so since Hector is my only lord strong enough to really fight the dragon, I've found it a typically harder fight. I guess it's also been a while since I played it on Eliwood normal mode.

Apparently Hector's mode has new missions and story, so I might play that later. I'll probably try to focus my party more, with one archer and one healer. But I'll do that later since I've had enough Fire Emblem for now.
Hector's mode is definitely the better version, but it isn't something you should just start off on immediately after beating it. It does offer some interesting new insight on Hector and shows that pairing him off with Lyn is clearly the best choice, it isn't a whole lot different than Eliwood's story.

What other games in the series are available in English? A second game has not changed my feeling that it's a series worth playing.
In addition to the games Master Dias mentioned, there is a completed fan translation of FE6, or Fire Emblem: The Sword of Seals. It features Roy, and the game you just played it the prequel to it. It's especially notable for introducing the support system, though supports aren't really perfected until 7.

I'll be playing my free PSN Plus games until my subscription runs out, as well as my 60 minute trials of Move Heroes and Infamous 2 until I've played them for 60 minutes.

In case you're wondering, PSN came on in Korea yesterday. Got my welcome back games from the US and UK stores. Either the Japanese store isn't up, or they put a region block on it now (it said something about "your country" so... I'm not sure what to make of it, I couldn't read the whole thing)

I haven't played it, but there is also Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon for the DS which is a remake of the first NES Fire Emblem.

No opportunities for Wii or Gamecube, but I'll keep the other in mind.

People said he has better stat growth, but I didn't want to look at his face all the time.

I'm not willing to put up with low Strength in my lords, since they're obligatory. I get them near 100 experience and then pull them back so I can manipulate RNG at the beginning of the next chapter. That was what gave Eliwood decent stats, whereas I guess I just got lucky with Lyn.
