Another expository episode. I was waiting the entire time for something to go horribly wrong. There is plenty of creepy Kyubey though. Also, more mechanics of Puella Magi, with a particularly interesting fact coming from Kyubey and more from refreshingly blunt Homura.

So yeah, it was basically me yelling KYUBEYYYYYY the entire episode.

Of course, I don't think anyone on this thread has mentioned the fact that the first part of Kyuubey's name is Kyuu, the Japanese word for 'nine', and one of the sounds/words they try to avoid because it's related to death.

So, Kyubey says "she did and she didn't" make a contract. I'm assuming a completely legit contract is for a wish for the self, and Sayaka wished for another person.

Kyubey also apparently gains complete knowledge of the person's capabilities and experiences when a true contract is made. Why does he need it? Good question.

Okay, yeah, you're right. They're talking about Sayaka but then Kyubey says there's another Puella Magi in town (Homura) and says he doesn't know much about her, because "she did and she didn't" make a contract with him.

Never mind! I was a bit distracted when I watched the episode and missed that.

Either Kyubey doesn't reveal to other puella magi which other girls he's made a contract with, or there's another creature out there who can grant wishes and who can maybe subvert Kyubey's power. So, Kyubey either pretends not to know anything about Homura when he's talking to Kyoko or he actually doesn't know anything about her.

Also, that fight scene was awesome and I really think Madoka's wish is supposed to be something else, but Kyubey is pushing her to make a completely different one waaay before she needs to.

Yeah, watching the transformation sequence, Mami takes her Soul Gem and puts it in her hair. So yeah...because I was thinking the same thing, but considering what happened, her Soul Gem is pretty much done.

So anyway...Kyubey absorbs Grief Seeds. THAT'S NOT SUSPICIOUS AT ALL. Oh yeah, and good job killing your friend, Madoka! But she got better so it's okay.

RE: Madoka throwing things away; it's kind of neat how insightful her mother is. Yeah, she ended up nearly killing her, but now, everyone is pretty aware of the true nature of the contracts. In related news, her mom is awesome, but I feel like she isn't going to make it to the end of the show :<

Interesting episode, though. Makes me kind of interested how Kyoko will react to all this now. She may accept it and just not care.
Also, yeah, friends don't let friends throw their souls on top of trucks driving by.

Homura is my hero for now, though.

Things are falling into place and things are confirmed about Kyouko and Sayaka. That said, things kinda suck for Sayaka and Kyubey becomes ever more terrible. And we're back to SHINBO witch fighting sequences; this week's was super stylish, even if it wasn't too flashy.

Thoughts about the beginning of this episode: Man, Kyubey's kind of a jerk.

Also geez, Sayaka's gone nuts. It's her own fault for being too whiny to confess to Kamijo though. Hitomi even gave her a chance, but HERP DERP NOPE TOO BUSY GOIN' INSANE.

I mean seriously. She's gone off the deep end. Lettuce on a hot dog? Pure madness.

Could they really not think of a better way for Sayaka's wish to backfire then "Oh hey by the way even though I was totally talking about marrying Madoka in episode one and haven't mentioned this at all, I'm in love with the guy you like despite never visiting him in the hospital or anything." That was just...meh.

So apparently the ED is gradually changing.

The colors are gradually getting darker and darker and the final shot of the skull is being zoomed out more and more.

Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only who's noticed that. I thought it might just be the fact that I'm watching a new episode every week instead of marathoning them, but no, each one is definitely a little more different.

Other thoughts:
-DDR FTW
-omnomnom Grief Seeds what. If QB eats them, he could theoretically plant them somewhere so they grow into witches.
-creepy puppets for Kyoko's back story, but now we know why she eats all the time
-Sayaka's gonna go crazy and probably become the Final Boss
-Hitomi could be doing it for the lulz
-waiting for Sayaka's head tilt shot
-Mami keeps being a major figure despite the fact that she's dead

Also, my friend looked up that German W word Homura briefly talked about in the DDR scene. Apparently, it was a ceremony where witches would gather and worship things/do other stuff, so maybe there's going to be a large gathering of witches in the near future for everyone to fight/lose their heads to.
