A lot of fun and an interesting story except for the

I got the impression that

I don't know, maybe I misread that...

I'm playing through LEGO: Harry Potter; I'm maybe halfway through Year 2. So funny!

I also picked up Xenogears again. Man, these bosses towards the end of the game are really hard.... :eh: Keep on running out of fuel....

So lately I've been plugging through Odin Sphere (almost done with Mercedes) and Arc the Lad II. Wish I had the money to buy Arc III so I can play that again, then get back to Twilight of the Spirits since I never actually beat that one.

I'm starting up KOTOR again - my friend constantly nags at me to finish it (I don't think I've ever left Taris), so off I go on a Light Side run.

Also, I got the Metal Slug Anthology for Wii a couple weeks ago. They're all good games, at worst, and absolutely great at best. Except for Metal Slug 4: it feels like the developers (who were different from the ones that made the rest of the series) missed what was fun to play about the others, and ended up with a slog rather than something entertaining.

But having to shake the Wiimote to use grenades is teh suck, especially when you have a perfectly good unused B button right there, no matter which game you're playing.

Okay, so I managed to get the special edition of LBP2 and a strategy guide. (Several trade-ins and a $20 gift card helped cut te price down considerably). SE includes the game, a Sackboy plushie, a pair of bookends and a voucher for a bunch of downloadable costumes & avatars.

Story Mode is great so far. Levels (and hence, possibilities) have been beefed up in many ways, including gadgets like the Grappling Hook and Sackbots.

I haven't tried Create Mode yet, I wanna beat Story Mode first.

A bit of League of Legends, which is more fun when playing with friends. Some Call of Duty Black Ops, which is fun because I am playing with friends (level 24 on Zombies! "Five" map). A bit of Assassin's Creed II, which makes it way too much fun to kill random people. Also, Batman Arkham Asylum, which makes me periodically growl "I am the Batman" while I play it.

So I got LittleBigPlanet 2 yesterday and it's excellent. The new features add more depth to the gameplay and I'm loving the new story levels. At it's core, it isn't radically different from the first game, but it's still just as enjoyable.

Maybe I'll actually get around to making a complete level this time...

It's worth every minute you spend playing it.

Found a copy of Zoo Tycoon for the PC. I love this game.

Currently playing the game that made Mr. Smartypants pick up a brand new Xbox 360 to replace the old Xbox 360 he sold like a month prior because he was giving up video games forever, Bioshock.

Nearing the final stages of the game, I'm not quite sure how this makes me feel retroactively about the above paragraph.

Megaman Battle Network 6: Falzar. I beat Gregar a few years ago, and I just beat the main storyline in Falzar a few days ago. Currently working on the request board.

Final Fantasy IV - Playing the Super Famicom version, before the DS version, this one was considered the hardest. Now compared to the DS version, this seems like a cakewalk. I'm almost at the end of the Tower of Zot, so I've still got a lot of ground to cover.

New Super Mario Bros Wii - Got this for christmas.

Donkey Kong Country Returns - Ditto.

Sonic Riders (PS2) - Probably near the end.

I keep thinking I've posted this and I haven't... I'm playing Mario RPG. I think it may be only my second time through, but no more than my 3rd, even though I really loved it. Not sure why I didn't play it more.

Anyhow. I'm not far yet. Only to the Kero Sewers.

Penumbra: Overture, Penumbra: Black Plague, Penumbra: Requiem, and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. All very good and very scary games. Not for children. There's definitely inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft. They're survival horror/puzzle/adventure games and you have some tools to fight creatures in the earlier game and no tools or weapons of any kind to defend yourself in the latter games. Check them out if you dare.

:o  You are awesome, dude.

I've only played Overture, though I have all the Penumbra games and just bought Amnesia over Christmas (all I had to hear was that it was made by the same people who did Penumbra, and that you have no weapons, and I was sold). I want to stagger the games and have longish intervals between them, partly because the first half of Overture started giving me recurring zombie nightmares for some reason (though not the second half, go figure), and partly because I want to preserve that horror rather than just rush through the games and not be scared.

I'm so glad to hear that someone else around here has played these games! I have so many cool memories even from just Overture; because of the realistic physics, and the need to think like you're actually there, in moments of sudden fright or surprise I reacted more realistically than in any other game.

One question I have, though, is that I've heard mentions that Requiem is more like just an expansion pack of Black Plague. Is that true, or is it a game all on its own? It doesn't really matter to me; I'd play them all regardless, but I'm just curious.

Anyway, I'm almost done with Year 3 of LEGO Harry Potter :jump:

Requiem is neither good nor scary nor much of a game.

Beat Overture.
Beat Black Plague.

I have never participated in this thread and I'm not sure why. I've gotten a lot from the book equivalent and it's not like I don't play games.

Currently playing:
Desktop Dungeons (a surprisingly fun indie game, basically a 10 minute rogue-like)
Mario 64 (beaten, but with only 75 stars I haven't even seen a bunch of levels)
Plants vs Zombies (basically done, I think, but I haven't tried Survival Infinite yet)
Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled (better than reported but the encounter rate... it's best to just set the game aside sometimes)

Partially played but set aside until I finish other games/projects:
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
La Mulana
Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Lufia II

I also technically have unfinished replays of Cave Story, Mario RPG, and Chrono Trigger, but I only play those on rare occasions for the sake of a change of pace or relaxation.

Bobtheduck wrote:I keep thinking I've posted this and I haven't... I'm playing Mario RPG. I think it may be only my second time through, but no more than my 3rd, even though I really loved it. Not sure why I didn't play it more.

Sorry if this is old news for you, but the #1 thing I wish I had known earlier: Mario's basic "Jump" attack increases its base attacking power by a fraction of a point every time it is used. There is no limit to this except the max value for attacking power, so it's potentially the most powerful attack in the game. Using this excessively is kind of fun, since bosses weak to the jump element can go down in one hit.
