Favorite character alignment

According to TV Tropes, there are several character alignments within the traditional divisions of Good, Evil, and Neutral. These alignments are as follows:
Lawful Good (Law is Good, and you do good by upholding the law. This includes characters like Superman)
Neutral Good (Sweetness and light. Doing good is more important than upholding the law, but law is not a bad thing. Many superheroes, like Spider-man, fall under this category.)
Chaotic Good (Rebels and free spirits, but all around nice people. When they're doing good, they would rather do it without getting pushed around by authority. Many anti-heroes could go here, like Batman or The Doctor in Doctor Who)
Lawful Neutral (The rule-abiding sort. Law and order is more important than whether you're good or evil. Believes in keeping order, though not necessarily in Justice as a universal constant. Judge Dredd, Inspector Javert, people like these.)
True Neutral (They just don't care. Examples: Spike in Cowboy Bebop, Shinji from Evangelion, Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen)
Chaotic Neutral (The ultimate free spirits, or just lunatics? It can go either way. Chaotic Neutral characters are all about freedom, and don't care so much about morality. Usually a trickster-type character)
Lawful Evil (Lawful Evil: The most competent evil. The kind of Evil that winds up in charge. Can be a lot like Lawful Neutral, but nastier. Often, if the government in a story is corrupt, except the enforcers to be of this type. Darth Vader falls into this category.)
Neutral Evil (Evil with a purpose. These characters are only evil because it's a means to an end. The Master from Doctor Who fits this, and so does Benjamin Linus from Lost and most antagonists with an agenda)
Chaotic Evil (Just plain evil, no matter what. Think the Joker or Alex Delarge in A Clockwork Orange.)
So which alignment do you like best? For me, I like Chaotic Good because it makes for an excellent protaganist and Chaotic Neutral because these characters are often a lot of fun.

Chaotic good. I'm a huge Batman fan, and that's the sort of character I love- the vigilantes that go out and defend those who need it- without the law, if need be.

Though I prefer the term "Byronic Hero" as opposed to anti-hero, since the latter term gets confused with people that are evil/ not doing good.

Chaotic Good sounds cool at first, but paladins are only Lawful Good, so that's what I have to be.

Also, any kind of evil can be competent. A Lawful Evil character may be caught up in red tape. Also, a Chaotic Evil villain won't have any sort of honor or code that a Lawful Evil might, leading them to finish the job easily.

Also, I think you're missing the kind of alignment Neutral is. A Neutral character has morals, and would sacrifice their self to save a family member or close friend. They just don't go out actively hoping to do good things.

Also, Spike is totally Chaotic Good.

I'm mostly fond of Chaotic Good. I like playing Lawful Evil though. It allows you to be evil and yet still be honorable and noble. I've always thought that was really sweet.

Chaotic good, because I'm too cynical to be lawful good. Plus, it's hip to be a vigilante.

Really, though, good fun times can be had by playing any alignment IMO.

Seriously.

Back in the days when I played D&D, I think my characters tended to be chaotic good or neutral good--but that was rather a long time ago.

My more recent RPG characters (relatively speaking) are from other games, not D&D, so their alignment is a little hard to pin down. I'd like to say my Mutants & Masterminds character was lawful good except for the fact that costume vigilantism is illegal in that game, which meant our characters were constantly breaking the law. So, maybe neutral good.

Then there's my Shadowrun character. By the nature of the game, nobody is any sort of good; going on a run means breaking the law and killing people every session. However, my character liked things to be done properly in an orderly fashion (to a certain extent) and had a sense of honor, somewhat. Not malicious, just very mercenary (like most Shadowrun characters), so I guess maybe some sort of neutral.

Overall, I probably would now gravitate most towards playing lawful and neutral good characters. I can't really play evil characters; I find it disturbing.

I dunno that Megatron could be considered Lawful Evil. He led a rebellion on Cybertron; I'd say that puts him as Neutral Evil (he's definitely not Chaotic Evil though).
