I think I'll bump this thread ... ^^

I got the Ai Yori Aoshi CD, which was pretty nice, and also the Voices of a Distant Star CD, which is wonderful!

Also, since it was cheap, I picked up Rhino's overoptimistically named "The Best of Anime" CD up at Fry's, too. The selection is a little suspect, and the cover is marginal fanservice (Cutey Honey ... 'nuff said), but it does have some great tracks (like "Utsukushii Hoshi" from Windaria, "Voices" from Macross Plus and "Adesso e Fortuna" from Lodoss; I also enjoyed the O!MG theme song, even though I already had it, and while it's silly the American English Speed Racer track is good for a spin now and then).

I still want to find the Ranma OAV CD! *whines* I can't find it anywhere!

I need to get the Voices CD. I love the background to that title.

I picked up "The Best of Anime" a couple years back. You could get it with one of two covers, Cutey Honey or Speed Racer. It was the first time I had heard the Astro Boy and Gigantor themes in a long, long time.

He wants them to learn to walk and must therefore take away His hand; and if only the will to walk is really there, He is pleased even with their stumbles.

Healing hands of God have mercy on our unclean souls
once again. Jesus Christ, Light of the World, burning
bright within our hearts forever. Freedom means love
without condition, without beginning or an end. Here's
my heart, let it be forever Yours, only You can make
every new day seem so new.

Nail pierced hands they run with blood
A splitting brow forced by the thorns
His face is writhing with the pain yet it's comforting to me

I've heard the FLCL soundtracks are awesome. Next CD I buy will either be that or a Pillows album.
Think happy thoughts.

If you have a Sam Goody in your area, I've noticed that mine has a new section with just anime sound tracks. Perdy kewl.

Which brings me to my question. How is the soundtrack to NGE? I've never watched it, but I love soundtracks ( I have something like 25). I know they made a huge deal about it in Japan, but anything Evangelion related was a big deal in Japan (I heard that there were big concerts where they played nothing but songs from the Evangelion score. :wow!: Can you image THAT happening in the US?). It costed something like $13, which seemed like a steal if it's a good orchestral score. Those are my favorites. (Just so you'll know my taste, I like the scores from Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, the Lord of the Rings, Ever After, and Mulan).

If anybody can help me at all, I'd be grateful. :hits_self
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Definite all-time favorites for me; they were all beautifully composed and performed:

Noir OST 1 + 2 + Dans Blanc
Tsuiko Hen (Rurouni Kenshin OAV 1)
Haibane Renmei: Hane no Ne OST + Puchi no Ne OST
Mononoke Hime OST + Symphonic Suite + Image Album

I have a hunch I'd love the soundtrack of Hack Sign as well, but I haven't heard all the albums yet nor have I watched the entire series. But based from the songs I've heard, it's making good points with me.

I love the OP and ED songs of G. Saiyuki too and the instrumental versions of them are just fantastic, but the BGMs (which comprise the bulk of the OST soundtracks) seem to be a bit lacking in originality and/or unity in theme. They sound like they can come out of any arcade game.

true_noir_chloe wrote:Have any of you heard of a CD titled, Fiction? It has a lot of the .hack music and some Noir music on it. That's actually pretty good.

Oh yeah, I've heard the stuff in it. Mostly remixes from Noir and Hack and some new songs by Yuki Kajiura. Not bad. Quite eclectic.

P.S. Most beautiful OP I've ever heard - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex's "Inner Universe." Exquisite and achingly beautiful.
