Devotional guides to help strengthen your walk in Christ

Welcome To Daily Devotionals

Postby Rev. Doc » Sat Apr 24, 2004 2:48 pm

Beginning this Monday morning (4/26/04) and running Mondays through Fridays, CAA invites you to come and take a few moments and reflect on each new Daily Devotion. Included will be a Scripture focus, inspirational thought, guidance for prayer, and a quotation to give direction, insight, and perhaps a chuckle for your day. It's our prayer that this will help you to start your day off right or allow God's Spirit to speak to you whenever you need it.

Being one of the people who accepted this idea, it comes as no surprise to me. Nevertheless, I will mark this thread for future referance and spiritual growth.

This is definitely an awesome idea! I'll be sure to check it out!

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

Excellent idea; I'll be sure to look in here every day. (A bit off topic, but may I propose that this thread be stickied? Or is it necessary?)

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

After a bit of discussion among the staff, we have more or less agreed that this would be acceptable. Of course, you cannot tread into the realms of argument.

Although the site was down for a couple of days I've tried to keep up on the devotions. Therefore today you get two for the price of one. Good to have the site back up.

I apologize for the lack of a devotion yesterday. My wife had some tests run at the hospital and this prevented me from posting. Again, my apologies.

Daily Devotionals has recently marked it's first anniversary. I just want to thank all who pop in on a dialy basis, or whenever you possibly can, to give these a read. My prayer is that God will continue to bless you through this ministry of CAA in the days ahead.

I may not always comment, but I do read them. Usually in the evening when I can't sleep. *hehe*

I am a Baptist minister living in South Carolina. I have a BA degree in Religion from Gardner-Webb University and a M.Div from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I was licensed to the gospel ministry in 1979 and ordained in 1984. I have served churches in North and South Carolina and served as a missionary in the country of Slovenia for two years establishing works between our mission board and Baptist churches in that country following their independence. I have served in my current church for 7 1/2 years. I've been involved in Partnership mission works in Northern Ireland and Brazil and I am currently the taskforce chairperson with a partnership with churches in the Piatra Neamt region of Romania. This partnership has been ongoing for the past 5 years and I have had the opportunity to lead 4 of the teams that have gone there. I serve as the local hurricane shelter manager for the American Red Cross and our association and in the volunteer chaplin's program at one of our local hospitals. I am currently in an advisory role to a new African American mission in our area, which our church is a co-sponsor. I also oversee a Hispanic tutoring ministry for children that takes place in our church during the school year. Our home has been opened to international students from Slovenia, Japan, Belarus, Poland and will be welcoming a young lady into our family beginning next week from Germany who will be living with us for the next 10 months.

Oh, and I edit and provide the devotions here. ;)

Just a note to the faithful followers of the Daily Devotionals

My father in law was admitted to the hospital this past Friday. Since that time his condition has deteriorated and in his present condition the doctors have indicated to the family that his body will give out if there is no noticeable improvement soon. I appreciate your prayers for him and the family but also want you to know that should we lose him the devotions may be interrupted for about a week while the needs of the family are attended to. I most likely will not have time at that point to announce this so I thank you for your understanding.

Just an update

My father in law has been placed in the hospital's ICU on a respirator. I will be traveling up there this afternoon so it will be the first of next week most likely before I have computer access again. Thanks again for your prayers.
