Need a new series to get into...

Postby Yusuke » Fri Apr 23, 2004 1:51 pm

I need a new anime series to get into... Lately I've only been into 1 (Naruto). I want something with a deep story, good characters, etc.

I've already seen..

Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Inuyasha
Naruto
Yuu Yuu Hakusho
Tenchi Muyo
FLCL
.Hack//Sign
Rurouni Kenshin
Shaman King
Love Hina
Hikaru No Go

Thanks.

For deep story/characters, I definately suggest Gundam Wing. It had one of the most intriguing storylines I'd ever seen, and cemented my anime fandom. Definate thumbs up here, but it is rather long (42 eps).

Be warned: while there is nothing in the series proper, fans are especially yaoi-crazy about this series...so just don't go looking for anything online and you'll be fine.

Also, Last Exile looked very, very promising...I'm only halfway in it though so I can't give you a full opinion.

Deep characters...hmm you can never go wrong with Escaflowne, I personally love how Van, Hitomi, Merle and everyone else interacted with each other. Outlaw Star isn't deep but it sure is funny; may I suggest that one too. Oh and more recent anime...the story is a little hard to follow but it gets pretty established about 1/3 in the show: I am talking about Rah Xephon.

Saiyuki, though its for more mature audiences (16+)
DN Angel is pretty good~! Though it is not out in English yet…Only in Japanese…^_^’’
I also agree that Full Metal Archemist is a good series.
I would say Angelic Layer, though I don’t think it has too deep of a story plot…

That’s all I can remember now…^.^

Well if you want a deep story with good characters, I recommend Scrapped Princess (which is now being licensed) and Full Metal Alchemist (which is only available fansub right now). And if you liked Rurouni Kenshin you might like Peacemaker Kurogane, which is about the Shinsingumi (Saitou's group before the revolution) although that one is much darker then Kenshin and gets waaay more bloody.

Okay thanks! I think I'm gonna go for Scrapped Princess and Full Metal Alchemist. Also, do manga scans of them exist?

You know that everytime you download an Anime, it hurts the Anime industry and runs the risk of new ones from that company not being released?

You've mentioned a lot of which I watch...so you leave me one that is okay, but I have seen almost all episodes so watch it I do not any more. Dragon Ball z and gt. ;)
