Comic Party

Postby Kireihana » Wed Apr 21, 2004 6:41 pm

I picked up this months issue of Newtype Magazine a)because it had an Azumanga Daioh picture on the cover and b)it came with a free dvd containing one episode of Azumanga, and one ep of Comic Party, which I thought was pretty good. Has anyone else seen this anime? What do you think of it?

Being an aspiring manga artist myself, I find the story intriguing. I just wanted to know what others think and if I should buy it or not.

I bought that same issue too -- I haven't gotten around to the Comic Party ep myself, although I've heard good things about it (you know, the stuff that "they" say ^^).

It's supposed to be a pretty funny series. But since I haven't seen very many of the popular anime titles, I probably won't be able to catch all the spoofs. But the characters were pretty amusing, I thought.

Yeah, I also thought that first episode was interesting. I almost bought the first dvd the other day, but for some reason talked myself out of it.

I bought the first volume of this when it came out. It's actually very good. Reminds me somewhat of Otaku No Video. Characters for the most part are quite funny and comes off really well if you have attended any type of convention in the past. I've preordered the second volume, looking forward to it.

Chibi_chan bought this one, because I hadn't heard of it and didn't want to waste the money - BUT, then I watched it. :) I'm with Rev.doc, I can hardly wait for the next one. I did catch all the jokes and I love the guy that gets everyone involved in the love of doujinshi art. He's a crack up. I can't think of his name right now, but this one is clean and worth a watch - very funny.

Also, if anyone is interested in drawing manga, it is ultimately a serious bit of inspiration, once all the jokes are set aside.;)

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Thanks for replying! I think that guy's name is Taishi. He reminds me a lot of Largo from Megatokyo, lol. I noticed some minor swearing in the first ep, but other than that is the show clean?

One last question! Does anyone know how many volumes of this series are going to be released, and if it'd be worth waiting for a boxed set?

Ok, here's the rest of the truth: I invested in a Red Octane DDR beat pad instead.

There are 12 episodes with 3 on the first volume so 4 volumes can be expected.

Ah. I think they already have the 3rd one out (or is very close to being out) so in that case I'll probably wait for a boxed set. ^_^

Lemme put in my two cents.

Comic Party kicks ***.

Of course I only saw the first three episodes but what i've seen was quite entertaining. Its one of those animes that you can watch multiple times before it gets boring. That makes it a good buy. The first epidsode is not as good as the rest.

Wow - old thread!

Well, although neoassassin is no longer present, he was right about the repeat value of Comic Party. I really liked the series very much, and I enjoy listening to them when I'm drawing. Expect a review from me soon!
