I got mine from the verse in the sig, started using it when I first got online, and continue to use it bloody everywhere.

Bigsleepj come from the 1939 Raymond Chandler crime novel "The Big Sleep" which is a metaphor for death...but I did not choose it for 'gothic' reasons but because, despite being a reference to a good book and a 1946 film by the same name starring Humphrey Bogart, it sounded funny. I mean, if I were to log in as Raymond Chandler's "The Long Goodbye" or "Farewell, my lovely" I'd get really odd stares...but Bigsleep sounds funny. The "J" stands for Johnnie, which is my real name.

At one time I went as "Ask Dr Zook" which is a reference to a Hagar the Horrible comic strip in which the main character asnwers a question with that line.

So "You spoony bard!" is funny, but does it have any Engrish meaning other than strange adjective usage? I've always wondered if it had a real meaning, or if that was honestly what they "meant."

My name is because at the time I first came to CAA, I was watching Noir. So, Chloe had just been introduced in the series and I thought she was really awesome, and the episode I had watched was, "The True Noir," or something like that. So, I wrote down, true_noir_chloe. And now, everyone calls me chloe, even on chat. So, it's even become one of my pen names. ^_^

Wow, I just started three sentences with "so."

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Uh...Well mine...I have no idea really. I guess since I saw this was a Christian forum I thought of Jesus as "Savior" and I was looking at a bio of "Sora" for KH2 and I just put the two together.

And for my title under my DP?...uh I was levelling up an Alchemist on FFX-2 lol...i'm so original

Postby Nightshade X » Mon Apr 19, 2004 12:17 am

The first part of my screen name comes from these reasons:

a) I thought it sounded cool

b) I felt like everything I've ever been involved with seemed to fall apart, which alludes to the poison "deadly nightshade" spoken of in some of Shakespeare's plays. However, it also comes from the flower, which alludes to the potential beauty of my somewhat "out-dated" character (I consider myself a modern-day knight, which isn't very popular these days... not that I care about what's popular...).

c) Nightshade was the concept name of the main character of the story I'm writing.

Now X... in algebra, it's a variable. It has the potential to be the least of all or the greatest of all. In a way, it's something I'd like to portray myself as. One who has the potential of both light and darkness... but that's a whole other story.

Mine's got a double meaning. "Aka" uses the kanji for the color red, which is my favorite color and has a lot of meaning to me for various reasons. "Chan" is just an endearing suffix/title thingy for a child or female friend, and I like to try to be at least on good terms with everyone. Put together, though, "Aka-chan" can also refer to a baby or very young child, which is usually how I feel (and I always get treated as the kid when with a group of friends--not in a bad way, though), being generally innocent, trusting, and occasionally naive.

Please raise your hand if you didn't see this coming. That's what I thought. Then again, I had expected "So?"

Now on topic... I'm surprised by the number of usernames that are taken directly from things that were happening at the time. I really have no commentary on it, I just found it interesting.

Meanwhile, a few people have mentioned their user titles, which I suppose is just a legitimate question and more or less applies in this thread. Mine is there to express the atitude I'm hopefully living in, and the goal that I am striving to reach.

I made mine up. It's pronounced "Merlin" like the wizard. I liked that name a lot but it is overused and I wanted a girl version of it. So I got "Myrrh" from the bible (one of the wise men's gifts to baby Jesus) and the female name "Lynn" to make it sound like a girl name.

Unfortunately there is a few other MyrrhLynns out there, I have no idea how they came up with the name though.

Skynes is a high school nick name. An anagram of my full name - Scott Atkins came up with Skins, later some guy started deliberately twisting the pronounciation and Skynes was the result. I use it absolutely everywhere! Every game, every forum, every e-mail.

I always thought it sounded like a female version of Myre Link (sp?) from Vampire Hunter D.

I was thinking this would be a cool name. So i decided to go with it.
"People who sin say this: That they had to, to survive. People who sin say this: That it's too late to stop. The shadow called Sin dogs them steadily without a word. Remorse and Agony are repeated, to finally end up at Despair. My screen name? I have two. The first, the one I use here, is from Greek Mythology, while the other is variations of the amalgam.

The next question is why the amalgam? Long story.

I really didn't have a definative reason as to why I chose my screen name...I guess partially because I wanted something that sounded a bit mythological, err maybe just with a Z. Really there is no other reason---in the past boards I use to attend I only used band names which really sunk my ship due to being completely unoriginal.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right. Actually, it's Meier Link, but we all know who you're talking about. Meanwhile, I'm glad you told me the pronunciation is "Merlin" as I have it mentally correct now.

I've always like dragons, and I do kendo (The Way of the Sword) which is simaliar (am I spelling that right?) if not derived from bushido (The Way of the Warrior) which is the code samurai followed.
I mainly use sunsamuri90 (yes I know its spelled wrong, I didnt see it at the time) from Golden Sun, but one of the people I do Kendo with had their e-mail address samuraidragon13, and I stole it cause I liked it better than mine, I hope she dosnt find out. :mutter:

That's cool that you do Kendo. I'm a student of Shinkendo, I don't know if you've heard of it or not. We practice more for the art and skill of wielding a real blade than for sport, but I'd love to get a chance to test my skills someday on something other than bamboo or rolled tatami mats.

I've never heard of it but it sounds cool, it sounds kind of like when we do the kata, where we don't hit each other but practice form. We do that for the firdt hour for the other hour and a half we put on our bogu (armor) and practice strikes and such, then we keiko (free practice) where we fight.

My name came from when I needed a screen name for the How to Draw Manga Gallery so I could post comments. The only manga I owned at that time was CCS:MOTC and I wanted a Japanese name. I was very uncreative. I picked angel because.....I felt like it, I guess. Some of my screen names have 1292 on the end, that's my b-day. 1/2/92

I've explained my user name, but my user title is supposed to say "FKA elvis' evil 3rd cousin"

I was just seeing all these people change their names. All these user titles would say "Formerly known as bla bla bla" so I decided to parody that... Though, now I just HAVE to have that as a screen name somewhere...
