The Rise Of Civilization.

Postby Jingo Jaden » Tue Jul 14, 2009 4:50 pm

The Rise Of Civilization.

The year is 4000 BC, mankind is now taking its first steps towards civilization. Although many ideas have yet to be formed tribes, as well as some small scattered villages of humans now seem to have gotten to the stage that they see more potential in nature than just their huts. Warlords as well as early reformers are now trying to make their claim for the development of new nations. As mankind continues to strive for power, the development of borders is sure to appear. These borders will have to rely on the moderation of ambitions to stay as they are or expand. As civilizations arise and become more modern there will be both prosperity and wonders, but disasters are sure to be unavoidable.

Among the few destined to become great leaders are you. You will create your own nation and develop it as time progresses. How you handle internal conflicts within your nations, as well as diplomatic relations and nation development will rest largely upon your guidance. One will of course be restricted somewhat to the timeline of the original development of the world, however, a nation that focuses a lot of its resources on development will more quickly race from its competitors, but espionage as well as military conquests may bring those odds to an even sooner rather than later. The larger an empire is, the more reliant it is going to be on advanced civics to remain on its size long term, but as that occur rival factions as well as original nations will also stake their claim for power. Thus you have to outsmart and outrival your opponents, or if you feel secure enough, co-operate with them.

Managing military, economy, infrastructural and expansionistic policies will be tough, but you can lead your nation into a golden age if you undergo the right changes and the right policies, which most likely will come at the expense of your rivals. The ways to go about are plenty, but it is up to you and coincidences mainly on just how great you will be able to make your empire.

Here is the starting map, you can only start nations in the following

Continents:

Asia

Europe

Australia

Africa

Image

It is recommended that you keep some distance between yourselves, as expansion is sure to be harder the more neighbors you have around. Not to mention that the land you have can develop itself into a greater significance than what it has to this day. So, for all we know South Africa can become the new Roman Empire.

At the start, you will have to spread out with villages; sooner or later you might form your own capital even. However, you also have to keep an eye out on mining, industry, farming as well as civics in order to expand your empire, your military, starting out with as primitive forces as slings and clubs, will sooner or later managed to develop itself into a massive war-machine.

You can be a tyrant without mercy, a benevolent king or a just president.
However, each paths will present their own challenges, and it is up to you to really enforce a rule worthy of creating a civilization.
The greatest threat to your expansion will probably be your neighbors, but trade agreements and alliances can also be formed. Diplomacy is vital, but if you are ruthless, your reputation will be added to the negotiations table, if your military is used to large scale military conflicts, you may find it easier to overcome your enemies in the future.

Creating an empire takes time, and don’t expect it to be without problems, everything from disease, natural disasters, riots and revolutions can change the face of your empire. Use all your means to develop the superpower which will challenge the rule that the greatest leaders in modern history managed to create. Sustain your empire through trade, industry, civics, military, diplomacy and conflict and make sure none stand between you and ultimate success. Historical events may get in your way and not all responses may go as smoothly as hoped.

Choose your starting position, forge your nation, change the destiny of the globe and grow large. A new age has begun at the rise of Civilization!

Create your leader and the name for your starting civilization, you may change this later on through research and reform.

Currently occupied starting positions.

Constantinople *Nowaday Istanbul *Turkey*

Mongolia

Here are some basic rules.

1 – Since we are dealing with the start of civilization, you are free to create a custom race as long as they are not overly powerful compared to humans.

2 – Most of the in-game matters will be decided by a pre-elected council who will judge fair and unbiased to the best of their abilities.

3 – If you want to strengthen your nation in any way, you have to make it known, if you want a secret development, you have to have someone you can trust and pm them that Intel. A nation can only focus on so much for so long. Yes, a nation can also outrun another one in terms of technological advancements, but a nation that has prioritized industry, agriculture and civics will also be able to conduct research at a faster phase, so be careful on your prioritizing.

4 – No flame wars, personal attacks or anything of the like, humor is one thing, but be careful not to cross the border into flaming.

5 – Questionable development of supernatural elements will be discussed and taken into consideration by the council. It is not going to be as dry as a paper, but we are not going to create a square enix world any time in the medieval era either. It can be different, but it must have some connection to realism.

6 – Have fun.
Rules may be added or extracted.

My current nation.

The Aristocracy of Constantinople.

Rule – Aristocracy

Capital – Constantinople.

History – Forged by the 4 wise men. One from the mountain, one from the jungle, one from the sea and one from dessert. They forged together a village, a village called Constantinople which they said was blessed with all that nature could present it with. However, the most notable figure is the one from the mountain. He saw a lot more in nature than what did lie in its spectacular scenery. He managed to gather many humans and form an early Aristocracy. It is fairly similar to tribalism, but more sophisticated in terms that several high standing members have responsibilities over various forms of government. The man from the mountain, also known as Tyran, is a rather strong built man who is known for being rather harsh in terms of rule. However, he is often forced to let the will of the other wise men overwrite his decisions

The early village of Constantinople developed itself into something too strong for the humans outside of its borders to disturb. Always searching for new ways to develop their civilization, early ideas formed themselves and farming became one of the first real advancements. Although the rule is fairly fragile, they have managed to convince the other humans that they are the supreme authority of the land which they own, although not large at present time, the ambition is there. The people consist mostly of hunters, farmers and early guards who work for no direct pay other than food. The most primitive of defenses has been installed around the village in order to keep unwanted animals out.

Main character

Tyran Dawn.

Age – 36

Height – 6,3

Weight - 225 Pounds

Skin – White

Hair – Brown and shoulder length.

Features – One noticeable scar across his face.

History – A man who lived most of his life in the mountains. He has already lived a long life compared to most humans in this age, but later found his journey directed to the land of Constantinople were he was captured by the town guard. However, the leaders saw him as an equal and a strong character that would be good to have in a higher position. He quickly managed to convince the 3 other leaders that he had a good idea on how to improve things, and managed to advance things further by teaching several traits he learnt living in the mountain region. He has a love for red meat, and he has been known for having a temper that could easily boil over. His determination and energy has proved great in the development of this early civilization and he is mostly responsible for the development of the early milita of the village of Constantinople. However, he has plans to expand the village and found several more. With this capable man in their ranks, one might soon see the rise of a powerful civilization.

Canada? o.O Does Canada even HAVE armies?

Nation: Mongolia

Rule: Empire

Capital: Karakorum

History: After fleeing from a rival clan, bumping off his elder brother, and wandering the deserts of Central Asia for some years, Temujin had one major ambition in life; gross imperialism complete with human battering rams and corpse catapults. Yes, this was one guy who sure knew how to have a darn good time. After discarding his childhood name and acquiring a bit of land, the young Mongol took on the rather arrogant title of Ghengis Kahn and now begins his march to conquest. Yaaargh.

Character

Name: Ghengis Kahn (formerly "Temujin"... not to be confused with Temulin).

Age:

Skin tone: Medium brown

Feature: Short like an orc (haha. T___T) with an evil, gloating laugh. Looks like a very evil Asian dude with a big sword and some skulls on his helmet.

Special combat abilities: Various war strategem, though most skilled in pyschological warfare/terror. Corpse catapults are his trademark.

A story character with no direct relations towards the nation development itself.

Name - Crow
Age - Looks to be late in the 40's.
Height - 6,1
Weight - 150 Pounds
Skin color - Caucation.
Hair - Long and black with a pretty messed up pony-tail.
Clothes - Wears a large, purple robe. Has a few gold necklases and wears sandals.

Personality - Fairly old and he knows he is, but overall a pretty nice person. For whatever reason he seems to be wandering the world without any real purpose or direction. He seems to be a pretty relaxed guy. There is no doubting his insight or knowledge of the Earth.

The Kingdom of Aire

Rule – Aristocracy

Area: Western Russia

Capital – Aire (location Moscow)

History – The kingdom of Aire began as the union of several tribes who traveled north from the world's center. After suffering the intense weather conditions of the northern region's winter, five tribes who had traveled from various areas of the south made an agreement to join their people, and settle at the river banks of the Moskva River (place that was originally settled by the village of the Wolf tribe, most respected of the five tribes). Each village chose their representative, and they took it upon themselves to settle the affairs of the people at large. In time, as the kingdom began to expand the tribe leaders appointed men who were able to concentrate on the details of agriculture, military, and trading.

Main character

Rafael Wolftrait

Age – 34

Height – 6,1

Weight - 190

Skin – White

Hair – Jet Black (an inch above shoulders)

Features – His left eye is a blue color while his right is a grayish tone. Scar crossing his right cheek almost reaching his eye. Strong, and well built, but incredibly agile and quick for his stature he wore black, and grey furs over clothing which style couldn't be distinguished due to all the fur coats.

Weapons:
Rafael wields a katana-like blade, and carries a medium size bow on his back.
Dagger strapped to his right leg.

History – The Wolf tribe began taming wolves ever since they arrived to the northern lands. As a child Rafael desired a pet wolf of his own,and at the age of 13 he parted with some friends to go searching for his own (despite his parents warnings). The young children's mission did not go as smoothly as they'd have liked. While some of Rafael's friends distracted part of the wolf pack Rafael reached in for a wolf pup,but was caught off guard by one of the female wolves. As a result Rafael nearly lost his right eye but was aided by a young female archer from the falcon tribe,Lenna Viento.
Having almost lost his eye but at the same time having his eyes opened to the fierce fighting spirit of the wolf pack he ceased his attempt at capturing a pup wolf. In time he was able to care for a wounded one instead.

My current nation.

Aether Empire

Map

Image

National Flag

Image

Rule – Secret Evil Underground Organization

Capital – Zarnakanland

History – *Insert Pascal's typical great wall of text*

It's the year 4,000 BC, writing hasn't even been invented yet and reason is lost to superstition. Thus after generations of playing telephone this is the national myt- I mean history:

The Aether Empire was formed long ago by the great sand wizard Kaligumikami. Under his benevolent gaze the civilization experienced a great boom that brought their rule over the entire world under the power of Zarn Ishtare. All people's from around the globe were under their power... but the day would come when Kaligumikami would tire of his position as ruler over the world and left to run his own pizza shop famous for it's Caesar salads in the region of Italy... it was apparently millenia before it's time as Caesar had not yet even been born. All the same, his leaving meant chaos and after the civilization refused to pay tribute to Kaligumikami each year by sending him money to endorse his new franchise he brought destruction to the empire by turning the entire rich fertile valleys of it's home on the north and south Red Sea into a giant kitty litter box... err desert.

However, this is just a legend, and in reality, the nation was created some time ago by an evil underground cabal seeking to take over the world... Unfortunately though, their real myth as to how their nation came into being though is lost to time.

Main character

Chairman Zarfef

Age – 32

Height – 5'8

Weight - 180 Pounds

Skin – Pale White

Hair – fire red... but only under his armpits and chest hairs.

Features – Noticable insanity and apparent lack of the ability to die by aging (I mean, let's face it the RP is going to go though human lifetimes in the blink of an eye :P)

History – O_O you probably don't want to know, he claims to have lived forever so that would be a really long story.
