I think I mentioned this before but I would like to build up on what I think...

Not all fan service is bad. Just the sexual fan service. Granted, at times it can be funny while sometimes it can be somewhat funny while most of the times its totally unnesscary.

I've found some (not that many) scenes with sexual fan service funny such as in Outlaw Star with the hotsprings episode. I found it funny but most of the stuff is unnesacary but I found some of the parts in that episode very funny (i always skip the last part though thats wayyyyyyyyyy over the top)

But then again thiers other types of fan service: explosions, having a annoying character die, and for some bunch of blood ( iwll pass on that alot). What I'm trying to get at is that fan service while it does apply to sexual stuff in an anime is not limited to it but also includes what I just say (tahts how I view it).

For example remember in Titanic??? Where the ships is going down and that guy falls down and hits the propeller?? That's non-sexual fan service. I foudn that funny and still today when I see it I chuckle.

But for the most part fan service is aossciated with sexual stuff.

Oh hey Uchiha chan, I dont like to argue over online issues cause it's pointless but please do show some respect to the members and moderators. Thats one of my biggest pet peeves when people are disrespectful to other people.

Well, I'm sure all of us have our opinions, however, I would ask that we drop this chain of conversation, as it might be misconstrued as against U, who's only fault may be a lack of understanding. If this does continue, I respectfully ask that the admins (or mods) close it, so it does not seem offensive to anyone here. I hope this post of mine will be the very last one, and this will be allowed to sink into the bottom. But what do I know, I'm just a sandwich.....(Shrugs)

Well, I'm a female. You can tell because I'm Uchiha CHAN, not Uchiha KUN. Honorifics make allllllllll the difference.

Yes, yes, I'm aware of that (honorifics do help, though gender icons are better). I was speaking solely to Mave, not stating a rule. It will make sense only in the proper context (ie responding to her post regarding the subject).

Stop promoting Sexy no Jutsu. You've made your opinion quite clear by this point. Anything further is basically spam, which is frowned upon basically anywhere. Furthermore, considering that it could be considered as intended agitation, extensive amounts would be classified as trolling.

Well... you probably should. Therefore, I answer regardless to the answer to your question.

Technical definition: content in anime/manga/literature solely for the sake of the fans, that serves no real purpose to the plot. This includes nudity, excessive fighting, sex, etc.

Practical definition: when most people say fanservice, they mean random nudity. Such as our heroine out of nowhere becoming unshirted. I'm sure you get the picture.

i know everyone is gonna disagree with me, but i actually like fanservice i don't see anything wrong with it, i think it's just a part of some anime, and i think it's just "cool" i can't really describe it i just don't have any problem with it what so ever, Hentai is another story though.
so basically:
Hentai: BAD
Fanservice: GOOD!!
please don't hate me......
Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?
Like somehow you just don't belong
And no one understands you

Do you ever wanna run away?
Do you lock yourself in your room?
With the radio on turned up so loud
That no one hears you screaming

No you don't know what it's like
When nothing feels alright
You don't know what it's like to be like me

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like

Welcome to my life :sniffle:

I'm not sure we really want to resurrect this thread, but for the sake of fairness, AnimePriest, justify yourself.

You seem to allege you have no personal convictions with it, which is not quite the same as making a statement over whether it's morally acceptable or not, and if you wish to make that sort of statement, I think it's also reasonable to expect you to back it up.

Its certainly unnecessary... I don't particularly care for it...though i've kind of been numbed to it from watching a lot of anime, it gets to the point where i just ignore it now.

Off course, when you throw in a quick refernence to another anime or a piece of literature (this is what some people refer to as an "in joke") then I'm okay with it. Like in "Castle in the Sky" there are squirrel-foxes from Miyazaki's "Nausicaa" movie and manga. But does "in-jokes" count as FanService?

Off course, nudity and sex and silly fight scenes (especially GORY fightscenes) only take one's attention away from the anime/manga's story and slows or interupts the narrative. Hmmm. Does that sex-scene in "Matrix Revolution" fanservice?

I would call those literary allusions, but perhaps I am biased.
