Imperium of Humanity.

The year is 40,990 A.D. Humanity have spread across the stars (colonizing several million star systems) and many a alien races have been countered. However, this isn't a happy world. The Imperium is a dictatorship with limited capitalistic ideals and free ownership. It's a very harsh and disciplined society. But, it is necessary, for without the harshness and discipline, humanity would've killed themselves off and be taken over by the dark forces and aliens of the universe.

The technology level of the Imperium varies from world to world. But are generally more of a mixture of "dark ages" and "sci-fi" with gothic themes.

That's basically the Imperium in a nutshell.

Chapter 2: The Journey Home

The Gothic class cruiser, Dreamers Twilight and three Cobra class destroyers jumped out of warp space. The small squadron of ships began approaching the Inquisitional battleship; Eternal Requiem.

On board the bridge of the Dreamers Twilight, the Adeptus Mechanicus tech adept Marcus Vespus turned around from his seat at the head of the room. A rebreather mask covered his nose and mouth that was connected by a tube to a square machine strapped to his chest. Over top of his shirt and pants, was a red tunic with the symbol of the Adeptus Mechanicus on the back; a half human skull-half metallic human skull with a mechanical gear in the background.

“We’ve arrived at rendezvous point sigma Captain Hale…the Inquisitorial battleship Eternal Requiem is ahead,â€

"So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

2 Samuel 6: 21&22

"I am going to take this bucket of water and pour it on the flames of hell, and then I am going to use this torch to burn down the gates of paradise so that people will not love God for want of heaven or fear of hell, but because He is God."

Chapter 3: Home Sweet Home

The fleet of ships arrived at Luvia exactly five days later. The only populated world was Luvia V, orbiting a bright yellow star at the center of the system. Luvia V was a standard Imperial world that acted as a host to the ever growing populace of the Imperium. It was fairly modernized to the extent of circa 20th century Earth, with large metropolitan centers and suburban living areas. Quality of living was also high, as the literacy rate was 90%, and most everyone owned personal cars.

During the time in warp space, Leon had realized that the mere presence of being around his homeworld would cause repressed memories to flood back, and obscuring his concentration of the mission at hand. To Leon, the quicker he shall complete this mission, the better it will be to him.

Leon walked into the hanger donned in his Inquisitorial coat, but this time, he had a black carapace armor underneath, capable of stopping most light to medium weapons fire. To his right side was a holster with a laser pistol inside, and on his back waist was a hidden holster that had a melta pistol; a short ranged pistol that fire out a microwave ray capable of melting through the toughest armor. On his left side, hung a basket-hilted force saber, a weapon where a psychic could channel his psyionic powers which in turn, could render a person to pieces.

Waiting for Leon at the hanger was Septimus, in his black power armor with a bolt gun hanging by a harness across his chest. The bolt gun was a massive weapon with high recoil that only the strongest humans or a space marine could handle. It fired a 20mm shell with an explosive tip, capable of blasting through brick walls, and packed more punch than the laser rifles issued to the Imperial Guard. The bolt gun was the primary weapon of all space marines.

*****

The armored car bobbed up and down as it traveled along the highway toward the center of town. Inside, everyone sat quietly along the leather benches that lined the length of the car. Leon had his head buried in the hood of his raincoat, his eyes focusing on the floor of the armored car. Winders sat across from him, playing with a diamond encrusted ring on his ring finger. Septimus sat close to the door, his senses heightened and his mind alert. Just in case there was to be an attack, for whatever reason.

The continued bobbing of the armored car made Leon’s vision shift around, and as it did so, he glanced at the ring on Winders’ finger. A mixture of emotions; frustration, jealousy, anger, and helplessness, surged through his blood. Leon felt as if he was going to explode; his blood boiling. Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, Leon turned to Winders, both to answer his curiousity, and to rid the thoughts in his mind.

“So, how are you and Ariel doing?â€

thanks ^_^...

...yes, Ariel is a cold character, and she has every reason to be as cold I guess. I'll post a commentary once I'm finished with the story.

"Why do people not notice until they lose it?
What it is that's truly important...
Although I can't afford to forgive even myself,
Because you were there,
I was able to be myself (Natural).
I want to be honest...I want to be kind...
I want to be the adult I once (in my childhood) longed to be.
I go on fighting against the heart to run away...
I go on fighting against that invisible something!"

Chapter 4: The Folded Truth

The Adeptus Mechanicus research laboratory at the Concord plains was established nearly 40 years ago. The Mechanicus guild told the planetary governor was that they were here to conduct experimentations in an isolated area where human life was void. Needless to say, the governor tried to appeal for the removal of the Mechanicus base to the Adeptus Administratum for this random setup of a base, but the Administratum rebuked the governor’s appeal and allowed the Mechanicus to setup their research lab in the Concord plains. This however, set in motion something that would change the fate of this world forever…

The Icarus bolted above the Concord plains under a clear sunny day. The craft flew at close to treetop level, avoiding both detection and preventing it from being attack readily by any would be enemies.

Inside the Thunderhawk, Leon began viewing the schematics of the Mechanicus research base on the wrist computer attached to his carapace armor, while Septimus sat next to Leon with his boltgun hanging across his chest. Sitting across from them were eight PDF troopers in dark green flak armor; the standard armor given to the tactical fighting forces of the Imperium. The flak armor come in all different designs and materials, but one thing was common with them, and that was the flak armor being light armor and could only protect against a minority of weapons. Cradled in their arms were laser rifles that had a telescoping stock which allowed it to be shortened for compactness. The PDF soldiers looked determined and awe inspired. It was probably their first time escorting such a high profile individual, and the service that they were performing would live in their minds for the rest of their lives.

Reese, the pilot of the Thunderhawk, poked his head through the open cockpit door suddenly. He had short dark brown hair with light brown eyes. He was also donned head to toe in a black jumpsuit with the Inquisitorial badge sewn into sleeve.
