Marvel delays release of Thor, Captain America and Avengers movies

Postby Roy Mustang » Thu Mar 12, 2009 7:54 pm

Sci Fi Channel wrote:Marvel Studios pushed back the release date of Thor, Captain America and The Avengers in a schedule shuffle it said was designed to maximize the visibility of its single-character superhero films, leading to the highly anticipated release of the multi-character Avengers.

Iron Man 2 remains on track for release on May 7, 2010. Spider-Man 4 remains slated for release on May 6, 2011.

Thor moves to June 17, 2011, from its original July 16, 2010, release date.

The First Avenger: Captain America is pushed back to July 22, 2011, from May 6, 2011.

The Avengers gets a new release date of May 4, 2012, moved from July 15, 2011.

"This new schedule strongly sequences Marvel's movie debut dates, big-screen character introductions and momentum," David Maisel, chairman of Marvel Studios, said in a statement.

A Marvel character-based film will now launch the summer box-office season for three years in a row, from 2010 through 2011

They're putting out Avengers before Cap? What sense does that make?

They were going to. I don't get it at all. Also the old releases date were two days from each other of the same year.

The Avengers? Sounds like that'll be a mess. I mean, they're not like the X-men where all the characters weren't famous before the team was founded.

What do you guys mean Avengers is coming out before Captain America? Doesn't it say that Avengers is coming out in 2012 and Captain America is coming out in 2011?

Also, Spiderman 4? Ugh.

Your right, this is what happens, when you read this news at late at night. The old release dates were both in 2011, but now the Avengers has been moved to 2012.

lol, The First Avenger comes out on my birthday.

But, still, great to see these movies are still on the plate! I want to see Thor really bad. They should hire Triple H to play him!

Yeah but that's been the Avengers hook "The Worlds Greatest (Most Popular) Heroes".

I kinda want o agree with you But Hes too old now. And he's always had a really rough face. Then again, I don't think I'll ever be happy with anyone who would play Thor.
