Yeah, I don't get the deal with the tunnel in the original...I like the new movie more but I like the Oompa Loompa songs from the 1st one.

QFT. Novels are not holy and infallible. In fact some of them suck. XD So sometimes the movie is better than the book. Like The Green Mile. Not a bad book, but it works far better as a film. Also, I thought the V for Vendetta movie was way better than the comic (but that's just me).

Back on topic: The only problem I have with the old movie is the beginning. It kind of sucks. But once they get to the chocolate factory, it's all uphill.

As for the new one, am I the only one that was irritated by the Oompa Loompas (or should I say "Oompa Loompa" since they were all the same freaking guy)? I didn't like the way they executed that at all. The songs were bad and having one dude digitally duplicated 87 times just seemed (to me) like an excuse to say "HAY CHEK OUT KEWL SPESHUL EFECTS".

The songs in the new movie were just awful, but somehow they're superior because "they're truer to the book."

The "songs" in the book were...not suitable for a film adaptation. They were pretty long-winded and really more like poems than songs.

I'm gonna have to say that both versions have a special place in my heart. Even so... I did like Burton's take on Dahl's book. They're both about even in their own ways, but Burton's comes out just ahead.
