OSX Leopard: Hiding the Menu Bar?

OSX Leopard: Hiding the Menu Bar?

Is it possible to auto-hide the menu bar in osx like you can auto hide the task bar in Windows (Or even like the dock in osx)? I can't seem to find a setting for it....

Is there nothing under Dock Preferences underneath the Apple? That's where I'd look first.

I've looked everywhere. Sadly, it seems that the folks at Apple have not seen fit to bestow the gift of a clear desktop upon me.

Click the top left apple, go down to dock, click "Turn Hiding On". This is coming from a fellow mac user. Macs Rock ^_^

I'm not sure why everyone is giving you bad or wrong information. Either follow sm's instructions, or just right-click (or control-click, if you can't right click) on the little dashed line and select "auto-hide." You've been able to do this since the first version of OS X in the late 90s.

Thanks for the help, but I was looking for a way to hide the menu bar at the top of the screen, not the dock. It's probably a bit of an unusual request, actually.

OH! That's not something I've seen anyone ask for. You can do it, but it might be more trouble than it's worth (coming from a programming standpoint, I look for the plist entries first):

1. Find the application you would like it hidden for.
2. Open the Info.plist file in the n.App/Contents/ folder (you'll probably have to right-click or control-click on the app and select "Show Contents."
3. Add a key for LSUIPresentationMode and set it as 4 (integer xml tag) just under the DICT entry.

If you don't wanna do that, you can download MenuShade from nullriver.com (products tab).

Sorry for the confusion!
