ITT I make another thread for the upcoming season in which I attempt to induce some discussion about our impressions of the shows that will start airing and which ones we will be interested in and will hopefully continue to serve us throughout the season as we come back and talk about how the shows compare to our impressions when the new season actually begins.
So, here is a lovely chart of all the stuff that we will be seeing in winter:
http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/1328/winterseason0809chartv2ux6.jpgIt looks like there are tons of sequels: Marimite, Druaga, Minami-ke, Natsume Yuujinchou, Slayers, Shikabane Hime, Birdy the Mighty, Afro Samurai. There are also some remakes you might be interested in: Mazinger, Hajime no Ippo.
For myself, I have the following TV series:
Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou, the second season of Natsume Yuujinchou. I watched the first season during the summer and it was decent. It's pretty episodic and some episodes can be fairly emotional.
Minami-ke Okaeri, the third season of Minami-ke. I loved the first season of Minami-ke. It's one of my favourites, comparable to Lucky Star or Azumanga Daioh. Unfortunately, the second season is really disappointing. It was done by a different studio, which is also doing the third season. I'm holding out, hoping that they learned their lesson and this will become excellent again.
Kurokami. It's based on a manga, which I hear is fairly violent. But, the main character is not in high school and is a game programmer. Here's to hoping that he
saves everyone with regular expressions.
Hetalia Axis Powers. Based on a webcomic, I think. Basically, all the countries that took part in WW1 and WW2 are represented as boys and their personalities are based on national stereotypes. This will either be immensely hilarious or absolutely terrible.
The Tower of Druaga ~the Sword of Uruk~, which is the second season of The Tower of Druaga ~the Aegis of Uruk~. The first season was underwhelming. The only reason that I'm even considering this is because the first season was left unfinished.
Genji Monogatari Senneki. I don't really know much about this, but it's taking the noitaminA slot, which has featured some anime that you may have heard of, like Honey and Clover, Moyashimon, Toshokan Sensou, and Nodame Cantabile.
And for OVAs, there's:
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei. I recently finished Higurashi and Higurashi Kai and think that they are awesome and have some of the best storytelling in an anime that I've ever seen. I eagerly await more Higurashi, as well as the new TV series based on their new game, Umineko no Naku Koro ni.
Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Despair and references to other anime continues with trippy animation sequences. RUMBA RUMBA RUMBA RUMBA RUMBA.
Essentially, nothing stunning this season. I'll be kept well entertained with whatever's carrying over from this fall. I guess whatever I pick up from winter will just serve as a replacement for whatever's finishing by January.
