I, personally, really like Captain America a lot. Though I can definitely see how others wouldn't.

This movie...well, yeah, it has Gambit and Deadpool. But I feel that if Fox were going to put any effort into making them interesting, they would have put them in the movies before people lost interest. I can't shake the feeling they're just trying to make an easy buck off of the "wwaaaaah you promised me gambit in the second moviiiiie"/"waaah they did sabretooth wrong" people.

Plus, the director's kind of a music video director. Never a good sign.

Unless this movie gets over 80% on RT, which I highly, highly doubt will happen, I really don't care and hope the Marvel movie craze dies down a little.

Well you gotta admit... of all the super hero outfits, he has one of the worst >.< Plus his name is stupid. Captain America? YES I KNOW THERE ARE OTHER STUPID NAMES OUT THERE... but his is not even creative.

He fits in there with Superman as one of the most unoriginal, uncreative, boring super heros ever.

I think it's possible for a superhero that was created as "unoriginal, uncreative, boring" to become awesome-- Batman is inherently a pretty stupid concept, but he's been reinvented enough that people can actually think he (plus his costume/image improvement) is cool. On the other hand, Superman, for example, hasn't changed much except for the fact that he's no longer a COMPLETE jerk (and he doesn't sport a mullet like he did in the 80's).

And even though Superman's not my favorite, I'd hesitate to call him unoriginal, uncreative, or boring. Superman is essentially an American icon. I'd say the same for Captain America as well. Either way, if anyone can make Superman interesting, it's Frank Miller, and I just finished reading The Dark Knight Returns, so perhaps that's why I have a different take on it now. XD

Anyways, this movie looks like it could be pretty good, but I've only ever been a casual X-Men fan, so my expectations aren't all that high. XD We'll see, I guess!

By "it's" I hope you mean that like "it was" and not "it is". Nowadays, he seems to think the only way to make a hero interesting is to have him speak in bold every other word, make all the women hookers, and have kids eat rats.

Hey man, I happen to love stuff like All-Star Batman & Robin.

It's comedy gold.

I just can't tell if it's intentional or not.

Just to throw this out there, Superman was the genesis of the modern concept of the super hero. Before that we had mundane unpowered pulp heroes running around in contemporary clothing and maybe a mask. As cool as that is, calling Superman unoriginal is sort of like saying the same about Shakespeare. He is the beginning of all the stereotypes. He was the guy everyone copied because this completely whacko idea just totally took off out of no where. Originally a lot of publishers were hesitant to even run such a silly idea as a man with godlike powers running around in underwear stopping mad scientists. It'd never even been seen before!
Back to Shakespeare. Just because thousands of people have copied him 80 years on doesn't mean he's a cliche, it just means that everything copying him has become cliche. When you are the start of a trend, I think you're exempt from cliche status.

Superman can be nagged on for a LOT of things (lack of flaws, no progression of character, etc) but calling him unoriginal is NOT one of them.

Edit: As further notation of obscure characters getting their own movies I just learned that Jonah Hex has been set for 2010 with Josh Brolin of The Goonies fame to play the lead.

But in Supes defense I rather like the fact that he hasn't changed much in all these years. If you notice anything that has been around for years hasn't changed much.. Just look at the title character to this movie were are supposed to be talking about.

Minaki, If you hate being an American (as most people of Massachusetts do) that is well and fine. But please give props where props need be given.

Read Superman: Birthright or Action Comics: Legion of Superheroes for a TRUE Superman. I loved Clarks' dialogue in DKR, but hated the fact that we was a tool that too many people make him out to be.
