Who's seen FLCL?

I'd like to get it for someone special ^///^
But I was just wondering if there was any really objectionable content, by Christian standards at least. I wouldn't want to spend a good amount of money on something really dirty, and I've only seen the first episode so far. I ask cause the first episode had some kinda dirty talk ><

But it seems like an awesome series *_*

So, who can give me a quick review?

Not sure if this will be anything close to a review, but.. It's a pretty good series ^ ^ Funny and short, but there is some content you should be aware of ^ ^; It's not horrible, but I guess that really depends on the person watching ^ ^;

It's actually a favorite amongst a few members here ^ ^ I would advise doing some research on it first

I've only seen the first episode, so I can't say much about it other than that it's pretty strange, XD.

The whole show is pretty dirty. It's not all up-front about it, but generally the whole show is kinda dirty lol.

Well like I said, most of it isn't upfront. It's only when you really read about it and study it that you find out what most of it means. It's also generally a story about people growing up and what it means to be mature, so it is a pretty good series.

It's a question of taste, frankly. While there are a lot of jokes, suggestive content, and a few eye-brow raising moments (especially some involving the main character's father), many other anime have been much worse without getting called "H". Frankly, if you weren't offended by the content in, say, South Park, you wouldn't find anything problematic in Furi-Kuri.

I would be very surprised if this isn't out there somewhere on a video-sharing site or a torrent or such, so that you could preview it and determine for yourself.

It's a personal favorite of mine, in no small part thanks to a brilliant soundtrack by the Japanese alternative rock group "The Pillows" (put 'brilliant soundtrack' and 'alternative rock' in the same sentence and I'm probably sold right there) but also because the humor is frenetic, multi-layered, and you can watch three or four times and still find stuff you missed. It is, in its own weird way, a work of art.

On another note, I've seen FLCL, and while it's definitely more risque, I wouldn't put it on the same level as South Park (which I've personally found more offensive across the board). Your best bet would probably be to read CAA's review (as linked by Lady Rushia) and go from there!

That's more what I really meant to say. I was trying to give an example of something familiar and a little worse.

Ditto. I found it a little too risque for my taste, that and its a bit weird... rather, its one of those different animes, with a strange plot/characters/etc.

What brief clips of FLCL I've seen didn't make a whole lot of sense, but were enjoyable for the sheer spectacle of it. I feel that animation has intrinsic value, and I'd love to see another show brought to life with the same raw energy and kinetic motion that FLCL was.

A friend of mine once observed that if you took a typical 26 episode school-age comedy anime, cut out all the filler episodes and 90 percent of the angst, fan service, and touching dramatic arc, you would end up with 6 episodes that looked like Furi-Kuri.

I would say 'sheer spectacle', 'Raw Energy and Kinetic Motion' are't a bad description of the entire series. The clips you saw could have been from just about anywhere.

And yes, I can't imagine being able to make any sense out of an excerpt. You almost can't miss a minute without losing something important.
