What to do?

Postby Gypsy » Thu Apr 01, 2004 8:05 pm

I'm a huge Iria fan. I own the first DVD release of it.

However there has recently been a new, special edition DVD set put out with tin collectors case, the works. Now, I need everyone's input ... do I go fangirl and buy the special edition DVDs even though I already own the series ... or do I remain happy with my meager first edition DVD?

You tell me!

I'm such a fan collector, though, that I like collecting label variations of things.

Go for it!!! Buy the tin can and all it entails. Oh, and btw, Gypsy, your love of Iria forced me to buy the special edition DVD of Iria. I love the show. Thanks. ^_^

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Gyp, you forgot the "give Ash a lot of money and some anime titles" option. ;)

But, I'd normally say save your money. In this case though...I like ShiHi's idea.

I would say don't buy the DVDs since you've already paid for them and therefore already have them, or you can do what ShiroiHikari said and just sell your current collection and buy the special edition-- and save money that way too. If you don't mind paying the money for them then go for it. The special edition sounds really awesome.

Buy it, I mean surely if any fan would want more collectibles of whatever is they enjoy. If you must sell the old one in place of getting the new one...but uh are there a whole lot of extras. I mean when I go fanboy on something I don't care if the extras are extreme I still buy it. It's still a little something to take into consideration.

Ink sez: "Sell old! Buy new!" If it were me, that's what I would do. Tin collector's case! That's awesome; I had no idea they put any anime DVDs in tins.

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. It depends on what the special edition has that the normal DVDs wouldn't. I'd recommend saving your money, though.

You can never have enough of a good thing, right? But my opinion shouldn't count much, after all this is coming from a girl who spends her money as soon as she saves enough up, buys and thus dropping back down to her -$5

Was not spoken of the soul."

I must agree with LightBringer. You already have the series. How much is a tin Case really worth? Now if it was coupled with some orriginal art and maybe an optional viewing with commontary, or perhaps the "making of" bonus. Then I would be obligated to encourage you to get it. That is, ofcourse, as long as you dont have to check your couch cushions to pay for it.........
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Well ... as for ebay ... I want it nowand I'd rather use my Suncoast card to rack up some frequent otaku points, if you know what I mean. And this new edition does have extras .... I think ... I think I'm going to buy it!

I would base that decision on how much you can sell your old dvds for(a), and how much the new ones cost(b). Then, figure out what extras you will get with your new set and decide if you would pay the difference for them. Are they worth it? I know alot of things I would pay the difference for a collector's set for, so if you're a real fan I would probably go for it.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Suncoast is a video store that sells lots of anime.
