Is anyone here a fan of the X-Files series? I was too young to enjoy it during the 90s but I have been collecting box sets and I really have an affinity for it. I
understand how the whole government conspiracy concept seems more relevant in the 90s, but it provides engaging intellectual television anyway. Besides, I like the stand alone episodes more.


PS: Please don't mention or talk about X-Files: I Want to Believe right now. I just want the focus of this thread to be on the TV series.

The X-Files was known for having many episodes that were not part of the Alien mythology/main story line and were just filler episodes that were for fun. Some weren't particularly engaging, but that isn't an indictment of the show as a whole because many of the one-shot episodes were fantastic ("Jose Chung's From Outer Space" and "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" come to mind). While the computer game episode was little more than something that could have been a rehash of The Outer Limits, the X-Files as a whole WAS engaging and intellectual. The first four or five seasons, in particular, really ARE gripping and well-made, especially when it comes to the alien plot and the abduction of Fox Mulder's sister Samantha. In a show as big as the X-Files, one dumb video game episode is not an indicator of the show overall. OP got it right.

Anyway, I love The X-Files, if you can't tell. I got into it really young, probably too young, because my aunt and father were into it. It was a constant part of my weekends during the 90s before I was able to, you know, go out and do stuff. I love the early seasons in particular.

Maybe I should have said intellectual, engaging and/or witty.

FYI, the seasons I have on DVD are: 1st,3rd,4th and 5th. I don't why I skipped season two, I'll probably buy it when I procure the extra money.

X-Files was the show me and my oldest sister would watch together 8D

Heehee, the music creeps my nephew out ^ ^; I remember one time he heard the remix of the theme song and started crying. I think he was.. 1 or 2 ^ ^;

I miss the original episodes ;___; I stopped watching The X-Files after they got replacements. It was just not the same without Mulder and Skully u_u
