this generally seems to be the consensus on Bale's performance, though I've gotta say that I really like his Batman voice... He did seem to get a little less understandable this time around, though.

That was mildly funny, but I understood him pretty much the whole time. I thought the Batman Begins saga batman was the best "secret identity" because Bruce Wayne sounded significantly different than Batman... exact opposite of the Superman / Clark Kent thing... the Batman Begins saga took so much of the cheesiness out of comic book movies, it really set the bar high...

This installment ended with Batman frantically rushing back to where he had left Jason, just in time to see the building go up in flames as the bomb exploded. How badly was Jason hurt in the blast? We didn't know yet. Tune in next month!

That was the point where Batman readers were urged to phone in their votes to one of two 800 numbers: one for Robin to live, the other for Robin to die. They only had a 36-hour window in which to vote. DC was preparing two different versions of the next installment, Batman #428, in order to be prepared to send either plot twist out to the printing plant and then to the newsstands at the appropriate time. In a Postscript, editor Denny O'Neil gives us the tally: it was a very close election. Out of 10,614 votes cast, 5343 wanted Robin to die and 5271 who wanted him to live. (To put it another way, the Robin-killers beat the Robin-savers by amassing a hair less than 50.4% of the popular vote.)

The aftermath of the death was handled fairly well. Batman is looking for the Joker with blood in his eye. He's thinking about a final showdown and how "one of us is going to die." We are terribly afraid that he intends to make an exception to his previously inflexible rule of never appointing himself judge, jury, and executioner. Will it actually happen? Unfortunately, Joker has pulled a fast one on him. He sends a message which leads Batman to the U.N. building in New York. There is a powerful scene where Superman intercepts Batman outside the United Nations building and tells him he can't arrest the new U.N. Ambassador from Iran who is due to arrive any minute now. Diplomatic immunity, you know. We've all got to play by the rules. Take a wild guess who it turns out to be and why Superman was so afraid Batman was about to create an international incident.

So you can guess that their conversation doesn't go very well. Two very different mentalities concerning the sanctity of being a Law-Abiding Citizen are visible here. I won't ruin the Grand Finale for you, but I will mention that in the end, the Joker was last seen in circumstances which strongly suggested he was badly wounded and about to die. But his body was not found, since DC knew they would want to bring him back again someday.

Saw The Dark Knight again today. It is still as awesome as ever. TDK is the first film I have ever seen Heath Ledger in. Obviously, I was impressed. So impressed, in fact, that I went on to watch A Knight's Tale. It was shocking (and a little distressing) to see Ledger as a pretty boy blonde.

I think I need to see TDK again to wash that image of Ledger out of my mind.

I thought it was a great movie...up there with Spiderman 2 in my book. Might be a little bit better. (Yes, I'm aware most will disagree with me on this point-- most feedback from my friends indicate that this was the greatest film ever made.) I agree that the new Rachel was kind of ugly, but it didn't ruin the movie for me or anything. Kekeke...

I've never liked Ledger in anything until this, but this Joker surpassed my expectations bigtime. Great stuff.

Also, I found the part were Joker was staggering around and accidently firing his machine gun to be extremely awesome. For some reason, it just seemed like the perfect touch to his character.

If you'd like more movies with Ledger playing a role that's not made for teenagers, I'd suggest The Patriot and a movie called The Four Feathers (which I actually have yet to see). I hear he does a wonderful job acting in that movie, though.

I think the main problem was that I had never seen Ledger except in his full Joker costume. Here I was expecting a weird maybe creepy 40 year old guy playing a villain, and instead I got a blond pretty boy heart throb. It was disturbing.

Also, I had no idea he was in The Patriot. I may have to recant..... as soon as I see The Patriot (it has been on my list for quite a while).

Wow, I enjoyed TDK about a thousand times more than the first one.

Personally I thought Maggie Gyllenhaal's Rachel was miles better than Katie Holmes.

[spoiler]If Holmes was playing Rachel, I wouldn't have cared much what happened to her, but I was truly shocked and sad when Gyllenhaal's Rachel died.[/spoiler]

The Joker didn't impress me at first, but he got so much better while the movie progressed. In the end I had no doubts why people said he was so good.

[spoiler]Harvey Dent's eye-ball made both my sister and I laugh. I know it was supposed to be gross and horrifying, but yeah, we kept on speculating about it drying out. Also, for those of you who mentioned it, forget infection. My sister assured me that anyone with that kind of burn would probably die from the shock and pain. And "not accepting painkillers" would not even be an option, they'd keep the guy under anaesthetics and doped against the pain for weeks. But it's a comic book movie so it's all good.[/spoiler]

I'd like to see it again. To really absorb everything in the movie and to properly appreciate the Joker's brilliance.

I just saw it last night finally. I loved it. I went in expecting to be disappointed with all the excess hype but I was pleasantly surprised by both the movie and The Joker... At first I didn't think he was anything special but towards the end, I thought he was fantastic (when he was in the hospital and all that was hilarious).

My dad's a comic book collector, and Batman is his favorite. Naturally, I follow suit, and growing up on the animated series doesn't hurt.

AMAZING. Even when the Joker wasn't on screen, you expected him to pop out..I was tense from about a third through until the end - I could feel my heart pounding. No movie has ever done that for me. And even thought Ledger was terrifying, he would make you laugh. And then you'd feel bad for laughing because it was something so terrible.

I've saw it last week for a second time with my mom. Everyone is required at to see it at least twice in theaters.

I want David Hyde Pierce for The Riddler.

Watch some of him in Frasier and you'll see why.

This is probably an issue with your monitor, particularly contrast or color settings. However, if you want to get around this I've found it works easiest to copy-paste the spoilers into someplace else (a basic word processor or just the quick reply field) to avoid eye strain. You could also quote those posts and then read the text with the code directly.

Am I correct in assuming you're using a Mac? If so, you can change the color of your highlighter to something that makes both dark AND light colors easy to read. Go to Apple > System Preferences > Appearance > Highlight color > and then choose a pre-made color or "other" to make your own color for the easiest way to view spoilers. XD Hope that helps!

I saw it tonight. And my verdict is:

It was pretty okay.

Yes, not mind-blowing, not fantastic, not movie of the year, just pretty okay.

The major reason for this is I just thought a lot of the movie kind of dragged...badly. I was almost bored during parts of the movie. It's hard to explain why those parts were boring, they just were. It was during the middle of the movie I think. The beginning and the ending I wasn't bored at all. XD

Now what else can I say? First of all, casting Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel? Ugh ugh ugh. She is not attractive in the least. :\ I know they couldn't get Katie Holmes to play Rachel again but geez, when the Joker is sitting there saying "My you are a beauty, aren't you?" and the woman is clearly not attractive then it kind of ruins the whole thing.

Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker. Seriously. Jack Nicholson has nothing on him. It's a shame we'll never see him be able to reprise the character. D:

Aaron Eckhart was also fantastic as Harvey Dent. Also I hope this isn't a spoiler, as I didn't follow many of the trailers or hype surrounding the movie, so I don't know if it was common knowledge...but I know if it wasn't then Corrie will probably edit it into a spoiler for me. XD But I seriously didn't expect Harvey to turn into Two Face in this movie, and man, his character design was gross, which means that it was great.

And uh...I dunno what else to say. XD Oh yeah, except...

Not worth the hype, but still an enjoyable summer flick that I felt was worth the seven dollars I spent.
