Best Robin

Postby rocklobster » Wed Jul 30, 2008 7:00 pm

OK, we all know that Batman's sidekick Robin is the best sidekick anyone could ask for. The question is, which Robin fits those boots and tights best? I like Dick Grayson best myself, mostly because he's Nightwing now, And he rocks!
Note: I am not counting the female Robin in Dark Knight Returns because she isn't "canon".

Tim Drake is my personal favorite. Dick Grayson was the original, but I like Drake because canonically in the comics he used his own intelligence to deduce Batman and Robin's identities. Truly the best and the most awesome. That and his portrayal in Batman the Animated Series really brought the 'Boy Wonder" alias back into effect, and in a good way.

I'm a drake guy myself. He was the Robin when I finally came back in to comics, and I found that I actually enjoyed his story lines more than I enjoyed the "G'D'd Batman."

Fixed =).

Stephanie Brown. She made the costume look BETTER THAN IT EVER DID D<

But honestly, Tim Drake, especially during Young Justice. Robin as a cute snarky nerd type? MR. SARCASTIC?! I think his personality has kind of gone downhill since then, partially influenced by the fact that rocks fall and everyone dies for him.

But there's a Robin IV now, right? XD

I was kidding, pretty much because I'm in love with Spoiler, but daaaaaang, she makes that costume look cute ^_^ Spoiler's outfit is not terribly appealing, on the other hand.

She did rock the robin gig pretty hard, I'll give you that. Way better than the chick in Dark Knight Returns.

Oh yes! Lets all gang up on Robin! After all, all the cool kids are doing it!

First off: Alfred has already failed Bruce.

If Alfred was the only thing Bruce needed to keep himself stable, Why is did he become Batman in the first place.

Bruce never got over his parents death, in fact you can say he died as they did on that night. This we all know, and is the basis of his choice to dawn the cape and cowl, and is in an odd sense the biggest symbol of Alfred's shortcomings as a parent.

We all know How Batman feels about a social life... He doesn't really have one and the only reason he has does anything outside his cave is in thanks due to Alfred ... AND Robin!

Unlike Alfred, Dick Grayson has been through EXACTLY what Batman has experienced. But unlike he Dick learned to live past it and have a life outside of fighting crime.

Read the comics, You'll see how much Batman ignores Alfred's advise yet will listen to Dick or even Tim.

Robin (Dick or Tim) can't save Bruce from himself, he'll live and die as Batman but they at least keep him from going off the edge.

ON TOPIC NOW!

Tim Drake all the way! I wish Chuck Dixon was still on the book, we got half a year of AWESOME Robin issues then he splits ...Super weak!

Eric, you're defending of Robin is noble...but the fact is, people are STILL sour over the last film verson of Robin. It was ALMOST as bad as Batnipples on the suit. While I am sure they have done great Robin story lines, I am leery of a film appearance as well.

I agree Steve!

But we're just talking about Robin as a character... Not about him appearing in a movie.

Robin COULD appear in a movie...but maybe not as Robin, If I could just see Dick Grayson show up at Wayne Mansion as the new orphan, I'd be super happy.

So... After reading this month's robin and in light of recent DC events, I guess Robin won't be Robin anymore? I've not been keeping up with the whole Batman RIP thing so I have only a vague idea of what's even happening.
