I think my favorite is where Serena tells everyone not to run with sharp objects. I mean, really? Really? XD

What I think of Sailormoon...

1. The dub was horrid
2. The original wasn't the best thing ever and was repetitve (not nearly as much as most children's shows at the time, like DBZ for instance)
3. The manga author was a universalist (believing that all religions are right), if I remember correctly... Yeah, that makes spiritual things confusing in the show (no more than Star Wars, I suppose)
4. Look at my avatar, for crying out loud, it obviously holds a place in my heart...

Sailor Moon was the anime that got me re into Anime... My first anime that I knew was anime was one of the ones on Sci-fi channel that was about robots killing people because people were polluters... Something stupid like that... In any case, I occasionally caught anime on TV until my friends got the Columbia house anime collection (one a month) and got Project A-ko and Akira... I loved Project A-ko, but I decided to watch Akira, and it nearly scared me off from anime alltogether...

I watched some stuff with them after that, but I was really into emulators at the time, and I just downloaded whatever games, and found one called "Sailormoon: Another Story" It wasn't translated yet, but I had my friend come over, who was obsessed with SM (which I called "Power Rangers for girls) and refused to touch before that) and explained all the characters to me and I got interested... We watched a bunch he taped (end of season 1 and beginning of R, the DiC versions, of course) and I was hooked...

It was Sailormoon that caused my interest in Anime to really take off. We bought the doom tree arc (the DiC version) and found something called "The Sailormoon Channel" online, which had SM episodes available for download in realplayer format, 56k... I only paid attention to the Dubs, of course (Japanese sounded so funny to me, I couldn't get through an episode of something in Japanese without breaking out in fits of laughter) I found out through S.O.S (save our Sailors, see I got into the show just as it was taken off Network TV and made only Cable) that the show had been drastically altered from the original, and The Sailormoon channel had subtitled episodes that weren't readable, but i knew they were out there somewhere...

I searched stores and the internet, never able to find anything about it... There was no subtitled version of the show online in readable form, but I eventually learned about something called fansubs... I found a fansub distroer (named Glen Pearce) and bought tapes off him... Got season 1 and 2 up to the death of rubeus in RAW japanese (and printed out summaries of all the episodes to read along with the eps) and got the end of R and all of S in subtitles...

I loved it... Every single minute of it.

And my parents never really knew what it was about, because you can be sure the stuff like the star and crystals and stuff wouldn't have flied with them... Not to mention the barbie doll nudity and two certain outer senshi...

BTW, I grew to hate DiC, but it could have been worse http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1JmUcC9rss

I've moved on since then, but it still holds a place in my heart... I'll still watch ep 45 and 46 from time to time... I haven't seen anything past that for a LONG time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs Watch this movie なう。 It's legal, free... And it's more than its premise. It's not saying Fast Food is good food. Just watch it.

Saban Sailor Moon trailer made me love the DiC dub for a bit.

I mean, I'd Rick Roll people with that, only I guess it'd be more like Saban roll. Also, I like watching the DiC dub sometimes because the lines are so hilariously bad. I mean, in one episode Rei was like, "Grandpa! Ever since you fell off the roof you've been acting like a--GRANOLA BAR!" It's just so funny, XD.

The english dubbed Sailor Moon did have some funny lines. on dubbed episode 59 (episode 65 in the original) after that red female figure said "Meet your doom" Sailor Moon said "Not today squish face" or when she said on episode 54 of the dubbed (episode 60 on the original) "Make over for you pancake face". those were some funny lines.

Oh, I didn't know that, XD. In any case, the DiC dub got me into anime in the first place so I'm glad it's the one that ended up coming on my T.V. every afternoon.

If the Salior Moon series was to be remade I would wonder which Japanese studios animation style would be good for a updated today style would be great for the series?
What if Pixar got a chance to do a movie based on Salior Moon.
It could be a studio that uses computer for animation.

OH. Okay. XD;; It's just the title said "SABAN" in capital letters and I assumed it was directed at my earlier rant about how it was made by Toon Makers, Inc., and not Saban. XD;;

THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR POSTING AT 3:42 AM.

Actually, if you watch the video when they first put it on it says the company is "toonmakers."

I can't tell if that comment is sarcastic or not... but I didn't say they were invaluable. I said they were good... but that doesn't mean all of them... but 'beauty is more than skin deep' is a good thing to know and be taught.

Also, the thing said about the creator of the series by Bob the duck... yeah the creator (don't know her name) is pretty messed up, and the message (as I said earlier) has some things to be questioned and things not to support in it. anyway...

I LOVE Sailor Moon : O

I just don't know why people jump all over it like it's r-rated or something XD

Yes.....I can see it now.....
"SUPER SAILOR VIOLENCE MOON:THE END OF ALL THE SENSHI! RATED NR-17!"

But really......
I watched the entrie dubbed series up untill SuperS even though I hated the dub XD

I loved how they fit lessons into ANYTHING.My favorite was the one about "don't go anywhere with telling your parents, even though we do it all the time!" LOL XD

I think there are things to consider about Sailor Moon. The manga version contains references to evolution and reincarnation, and Rei *is* a priestess. The anime version contains, of course, the priestess bit (complete with divination) and tarot cards. And of course, both contain homosexuality and women that look like they're on their way to an S&M fest. If that doesn't bother you, fine. Honestly, it was the sexual stuff in Sailor Moon that turned me off more than the pagan. As someone else said, the nation is pagan. IMO, if you feel convicted, you shouldn't watch it. If you don't, go ahead, so long as you're not under the authority of someone who tells you not to.

You know, Sailor Moon was one of my first mainstream anime, too. (Not including Flying House and Superbook :p ). It still holds sentimental value for me.

I weep for that pathetic concept. It reeked of early 90s (which perhaps it was). A Caucasian Sailor Moon is fascinating, though. Anyone else notice that she gained around 7 years in the transformation. :D
"You've gotta speak about those things you don't currently see as though they already exist. Back in the beginning, God didn't look into space and say, 'Gee, it's dark.' He called light into existence."

Gotta Getta Gundam. ;)
