My Gosh This is Why I Love Pixar.

My family and I saw a promo for the film & it looks like a fun, cute movie.

I'd have to agree w/ UC. People seem to miss that one should be more aware of the film's underlying messages or themes than the rating, (with kids both need to be considered of course).

There's quite a lot of movies that I like that have the underlying themes I don't agree with. But, I still enjoy them. Being aware of them helps those themes not slip into my subconscious. Thanks to the CAA Anime/Manga Reviews. But, that's only one of the many reasons we love CAA!

Dude, Ok, getting this out there. When I was a kid I was in love with Short Circuit. I spent the formative years of my life convinced I was gonna grow up to build build this kind of stuff, you know? Even then if I don't have the dream to build them anymore I still wish I lived at the age and time period where I could be one of the psychologists who works to make the interface between humans and robots smoother like in iRobot, you know?

Which is to say, I'm freaking stoked about this movie!

Pixar hasn't let me down yet (yes, even Cars was a good movie), so I'm looking forward to this one. Maybe I'll be able to see it in theaters--depends on if anyone else is going (need a ride). If not, I'll be sure to rent it when it comes out.
(Come to think of it, the only Pixar movie I saw in the theater was Finding Nemo --that's kind of sad...)

Uhhhh, it actually has an interesting premise that creates some serious thought.. A robot that has been doing the same thing for 700 years without shutting down, and has developed a personality from quirks? Sounds Like some serious discussion could be derived from that. Americananimation isn't just for kids... although a lot of people seem to think that. Most of it is, I will agree. But Pixar branches out from that. From what I've read about the plot, although yes, it's G rated and kids won't be warped from watching it, I think a lot of will be geared to an older audience and will go right over the kids heads...

Item one, if anyone realizes that, it's me. XD Seriously. It's why I like Pixar so much. However, I'd think that the discussion points would come more from the themes presented in the film, possibly regarding love and responsibility, rather than the technological argument of whether or not a fictional robot from a fun movie can have a personality. It's like arguing over whether the Luxo Jr. lamps are male or female. That's what I was poking fun at.

Item two, note: "poking fun." Not being 100% serious. Maybe even laughing. Ha ha ha. It's not something that even needs addressing. XD

Of COURSE CARS was a good movie...way better than than Last year's movie. (although, Ratatoullie was good..) John Lasseter is a genius. (and I like that he does his research too Hehe... as a nascar fan, I totally got a lot of the jokes in Cars...

Wall-E is only starting on 11 July here, which is right at the end of my holiday, but hopefully the new semester starts slowly and I can still catch it on the big screen.

At first I wasn't too interested in the movie. The first trailers I saw just showed Wall-E working on Earth and looking up into space all longingly, which didn't really tell you anything about the story. Then later trailers just about show you the whole movie, but at least that got me more interested. And he has a cute voice.

Also, for a Wall-E thread, it has a considerable amount of Nate in it.

I just read the cast list on pluggedinonline.com and realized Mr. Ben Burtt himself (creator of all the amazing sound effects in the Star Wars films) voices Wall-E. Made me want to let out a loud "Whoo-hoo!"

I took my parents to see Wall-e today and was disappointed, but let me preface that disappointment. We all just wanted to go see a fun movie and forget about our many problems for a few hours. Pixar has been known to deliver in the past and the ads made it look like a fun/silly movie about a robotic romance.

Pixar never fails to impress in the visual department, and I loved Wall-e, Eve, and the pet cockroach. (hey, I wouldn't mind a pet cockroach like that one!) XD However, the not so subtle socio/political commentary really turned off my parents. They didn't enjoy it and the ride home was quiet and utterly depressing. Personally, I thought it was okay, although I too thought some things pushed the envelope a little much, even for Pixar.

I suppose the ads being a bit misleading was mostly to blame. They gave no hint of the political content, only of the gag humor. So beware going in people, if you want something light and cheerful, this may not be the best movie.

On that note, in the interview, Andrew Stanton does admit there's a social commentary, but I actually liked what he said about it--that it's more about how we need to communicate with the person next to us rather than focusing on material things that don't matter. I'm actually looking forward to it, knowing that it has something beyond the gag humor. XD I'll probably end up seeing it tomorrow due to some things that have been happening around here, but I can't wait!

I saw this movie at noon, today. I went in with the highest of expectations and came out not even the least bit disappointed.

This movie is fun, imaginative, sweet, and surprisingly captivating. Only Pixar could make me care so much about a little, yellow box.

The Incredibles is still my favorite Pixar film, but this was at least as good. I'd recommend it to anybody.

Oh, and the beginning short this time around is just AWESOME. But you knew that.

I could write a long post, detailing everything about how amazing this movie is, but that's not the point. It's a great story, although suprisingly not as light hearted as previous films, and a bold move by Pixar, It's a genius move at the same time. it's for everyone, and you should go see it now. yes, thats right, I don't want to see you online until you've seen this movie.

LOL, After reading the interview with Stanton, I thought of Hotel. XD However, the two stories are pretty much vastly different, since Hotel is only similar to the "last on earth" part of Wall-E's life. XD And hopefully Wall-E will be happier than Louis. D8 XDD

As for the political commentary vs. gag film, I've never known Pixar to do a movie that was just fun for the sake of fun? I think all of them are intended to have some sort of greater message. That's just the way Pixar tells stories.

This was the best film I have seen in a long time. Everything from the characterization to the plot to the music was absolutely perfect. This is easily the best film Pixar has ever made.

As to the social commentary:

I don't understand why people think it is such a big deal. The overall message is great, and it didn't feel like a [spoiler=Possible spoiler?]"look where humanity is going" but more of a "let's spoof the consumerist lifestyle, then show what is great about humanity."

After all, if you spent your entire life on a cruise ship, I doubt any of us would be good looking or hard working. Or even all that intelligent.[/spoiler]

I also think that anyone who is turned off by this message is over-reacting.
