An article I read today from ChristianityToday.com. It's an interview with the director and creator of Wall-E, who is actually a Christian. I was so excited about this movie before, and now I'm even more excited, just because it's so obvious that this guy absolutely loves what he does. XD Hope you guys enjoy!

Man, I had a customer last week. Her teenage girls were saying, "Oh! I wanna see that Wall-E movie." then she suddenly says quite loudly and angrily "Why would you want to see that? It looks so stupid!!" except much more demeaning.

That's awesome that there are Christians working in well-known companies like that. He has such a great attitude, too, not caring about the money or demographics, yet Pixar's films are STILL really popular.

And Etoh, I don't know what's wrong with that woman, XD. Wall-E is the cutest robot ever and Pixar's films are really good, XDD.

Also, the whole not dumbing down your story just because you're a Christian thing is totally how I approach writing, XD.

What's funny to me is Passion of the Christ was a violent movie and Christians loved it.

While it's nice to see Christians in the industry not being overbearing with their message, I have mixed feelings about what he said in the interview. Also about this film, as a matter of fact, though those two are probably unrelated.

She was embarrassed by her kids' enthusiasm, because she's forgotten how to enjoy life. I often feel blessed that I've managed to hang on to some of it, when I see people like that.

I have no problem with movies like I, Robot or Wall-E, that blur the lines between human and machine, because ultimately, they're entertainment. Even theologically, though, I believe that if any human creation ever thinks and feels like a human, it will be because God was never absent from the process.

I agree. *nodnod* But honestly I was speaking more on a technical level. Like, love is so complex that how could a thing ever be programmed well enough to fully comprehend it? XD I mean they can't even make an IM bot capable of carrying on an intelligent conversation, so love seems to be a bit out of reach...

My only problem with I, Robot was that it was the kind of movie Isaac Asimov hated and he would probably have harsh words for the makers of that movie if he were alive. XD

Uhhhh, it actually has an interesting premise that creates some serious thought.. A robot that has been doing the same thing for 700 years without shutting down, and has developed a personality from quirks? Sounds Like some serious discussion could be derived from that. Americananimation isn't just for kids... although a lot of people seem to think that. Most of it is, I will agree. But Pixar branches out from that. From what I've read about the plot, although yes, it's G rated and kids won't be warped from watching it, I think a lot of will be geared to an older audience and will go right over the kids heads...
