Its looks awesome. I just started researching the game a few days ago, and it looks just great. I'm gonna try to get it a few weeks after release.

This game looks great. Using fashion as a way to change the stats of your character is a unique idea, plus the character design looks good.

I got the game, and it's just what I expected. Extremely good animation, considering it's on the DS, and the gameplay is innovative. 5/5 in my book.

I just picked it up today, though I left my DS at home so I won't be able to play it til tomorrow evening. GameStop was mobbed with people getting GTA IV. The sales guy saw me and opened his mouth and I said, "Before you ask, no. I'm actually looking for The World Ends With You." People looked at me like you might look at someone who has just walked into a Healthy Grocer and asked for a can of SPAM.

Started playing this game. It's so addicting! Neku really peeves me with his annoying emo-Squeenix-hero attitude. The double screen combat is really hard at first, but button mashing makes it possible eventually.

I'm thinking of making TWEWY pins. Anyone have suggestions?

I've found it helpful to focus on whoever has the light puck.

I've finished it, and I've got to say that I am fairly satisfied with the conclusion and am fairly impressed with most everything else about the game.

So in an attempt to generate some discussion...

There are a ton of things that I enjoy about TWEWY. The setting is original for Square. The art is really hot and the soundtrack is catchy and fitting. The battle system and gameplay mechanics really stand out and are really innovative; they certainly make good use of the DS and they are really fun. While the characters seem to be the same ones we always see, they do receive a fair bit of development and I found the pacing of the plot to be excellent for such a comparatively short game. And since it's fairly short, there's loads of replayability left in it.

I would have to say, having recently finished WEWY, it is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. I mean, it's amazing in almost every category. The story and the characters in particular stand out for me. The gameplay is challenging and addictive. The ability to switch difficulty levels and also to change your own level is a great way to balance the game for all players (I have to admit, I beat two of the last bosses on Easy.)

In terms of audio, WEWY excels. The sound effects are pretty good, but what really stands out for me is the voice acting. Most of the dialogue is text (well-written and humorous text, by the way), as is probably expected from a DS game, but the dialogue that is spoken is fantastic. I especially liked the voice actors for Neku and Joshua. The ending sequence in particular has some amazing voice acting. I also liked the music, though I found the instrumental tracks to be fairly repetitive. Most of the songs were pretty good, though sometimes during cutscenes the music didn't seem to match what was going on as well as it could have. But that's a minor qualm. I think the ending theme, "Lullaby for You," is wonderful.

I would go on and on about how much I like this game, but I don't know if I should. I really liked the ending. With the way the game wraps things up, I can't really see a sequel that focuses on Neku. However, I think that a sequel in the same universe would be possible.

Anyway, I love this game. 5/5. It is my favorite DS game. Its story blows Phantom Hourglass out of the water, in my opinion. (And I do like Phantom Hourglass.) So, my opinion of this game is that if you have a DS, get this game. Seriously. It deserves your money.

And then there's my favorite line from Joshua...

"But Neku... I thought you couldn't afford to use."

AMAZING. That's what this game is.

Just beat the game. Easily the single best DS game I've ever played, and high up in my favorite games of all time list.

As everyone else has been saying, the voice acting and music is amazing. Its the only DS game I absolutely MUST wear my headphones when I play. I've even got a few songs on my MP3 player.

Definitely a must-buy. I see this as becoming rare and hard to find in the future, so pick up a copy as soon as possible.

Okay, question. I might buy this game, depending on the answer to one very crucial question.

Is the battle system turn based or real time?

That will decide if it gets my money or not.

This thread is amusing XD

At any rate, it seems I'll need to buy a DS now. Just got a PSP...

I don't know which of the two you want, Nate, but the battle system is in real time.

You control two different characters: The partner on the top screen, and then the main character on the touch screen. The top screen partner is controlled by using either the D-pad or the ABXY buttons (depending on what hand you hold the stylus with) to enter short button combos, while the bottom screen is controlled with the stylus.

It's fairly challenging at first, since you have to control the action on both screens simultaneously. However, you can make your top-screen partner computer-controlled, so as to allow you to focus your attention on the touch screen. Early in the game you also get the ability to play the battles on Easy mode, which you can use to get used to the battle system.

Overall, I really liked the gameplay and found it almost addictive, but it might not be your cup of tea. Of course, I liked almost every aspect of the game, so I'm biased in favor of it. Hopefully this answers any questions you had about the gameplay.

I just realized... I got the line wrong. *smacks forehead* He says "lose," not "use." I can't believe I messed that up... Gah. Anyway, ignore me; I don't know what I'm doing.

Battles are in real-time. The battle system is really difficult at first, just because there's really nothing that's like it. Battles get much easier when you have a wide selection of which attacks you can use with your stylus controlled characters, since you'll be able to find a setup with gestures that you find work for you.
