Our local radio personality (who reviews movies for a living) gave it a solid meh. Apparently this person believes that the characterization and setting are good, but writing is only kinda OK.

Can I ask what about it reminds one of Samurai Jack? Is it only the martial arts, or is it the writing/ dialog as well?

It sounds like I'll have to check it out anyway, though.

That's exactly what I heard from my state newspaper, and it's the feeling I get from the previews, too. Judging by my experience with most animated features today, Pixar's films are the only ones I want to spend my money on, so I think I'll be skipping out of this one and wait for Wall-E on the 27th. XD

I'll probably see this when it comes out on DVD. It looks funny. XDD However, I still desparately NEED to see Prince Caspian so Kung Fu Panda isn't on my list of MUST-SEES... meh.

Regardless of how good this movie is, motion picture companies won't stop overusing CG until they stop making money. Thus, while I'd like to see this one, I am withholding my money until producers learn that regular animation still exists.

There is actually 2-D traditional animation used at the beginning of the film.

Also, Disney's next two motion pictures use traditional animation.

I sincerely enjoyed this movie. The lines were pretty witty in my mind and I thought they did a great job being artistic in presenting the Chinese culture without overdoing it (aka making it cheesy). Some parts are funnier if you're Chinese.

I was slightly mistaken. This one will be.

The two after that (Rapunzel, and King of the Elves) will be computer-animated, but they will have animation that resembles traditional animation so much, you can't tell the difference.

Rapunzel was going to be traditionally-animated at last check, though I guess they decided not to for some reason.

I just saw Kung Fu Panda a few days ago and I loved it!!!! I was seriously so entertained...and oddly enough, even though it was an animation, I wanted to learn martial arts so bad afterwards. haha My friend thought so too! Oh... and did anyone else simply adore the scenery? Though it was animated, it was so breathtaking!!

Saw it on IMAX. Liked it in the theater. Forgot about most of it after it was over and I left the theater. But it was a fun time while I was there, and that's all that counts.

I thought I wouldn't like this movie, but I enjoyed it much more than Wall-E, which I thought I would love. Pixar movies don't really wow me as much as everyone else, it seems.

There will be at least one sequel. If the sequel makes money, they'll make another. And so on, and so on.

Although this movie was somehow lacking in some way I can't really put my finger on, I enjoyed this movie and found the characterization refreshingly good. That said, I actually would have preferred to have the whole movie in the 2D / 3D hybrid style (vaguely reminiscent of Samurai Jack) that's used in the dream-sequence at the beginning.
